Anchev Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Waiting a true continuation of baldur's gate series...
gregathit Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Well, I played for about 4 hours today and only have made it through the prologue and am shagging ass all over the hinterlands area. Been getting my ass handed to me on hard with my two handed warrior. May have to re-spec to a sword and board. This is MUCH harder than DA2 ever was.....at least that I remember anyway. I have noticed that they were serious about mobs and enemies not scaling to the PC. Wandered into one that killed my whole party before I could switch to tactical and gobble down potions. Course that pissed me off so I kept at it until I won.....Pyrrhic victory and all that....Varric was the only one standing and he was one hit away from being a meat Popsicle. Are you playing on pc? Any issues? Yep, playing on PC. No crashes or glitches. I'm not running the latest in computer hardware either. Controls are fluid and no stuttering in the graphics.
gregathit Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 snip If you don't mind, could you tell me your system specs? The game runs fine, but there's minor stuttering every 5 seconds for me. I checked the minimum requirements, and I meet them, but not even enabling v-sync helps. Running an Alienware Aurora R4 (2011 version) with an i7 930 (2.80GHz) CPU, 12 GB of RAM, Three 2 TB internal drives (including C drive, game is on D drive - which is where I have all my games - Origin, Steam, you name it), EVGA GTX 650Ti (2GB memory on card and 2 GB memory shared), Creative SB X-Fi sound card all running the 64bit version of Windows 8.1. Cheers, Greg Edit: I have to say, this game has a SHIT LOAD of hours of game play built into it. Now you can do a speed run, but normal gaming will most likely have 40+ hours based on what I am seeing. Maybe double that. Completionist gaming will likely see a hundred hours or more. I am definately having a ton of fun so far and I only have bee in Haven (kinda where you start) and one other area (the hinterlands). Off to play.
woodenstick Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Bring back Leliana and Morrigan and neither are companions... WHY BIOWARE!?!?!?! Were they intentionally teasing me?And no alistair at all When can I pick up other companions? Cause with the exception of varric all the starting companions are bland/boring as fuck. I miss the hilarious banter of the first 2 games, did the devs forget how to make lovable characters? Knowing EA they probably did this on purpose so they could include the best companions in $$$ grabbing dlcs later on.... T.T Overall gameplay is a huge improvement over DA2 though so no complaints about that.
Chaos63 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Don't say that, Solas and Cullen are absolute bros.
Car Fax Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Looks like updating my drivers fixed the stuttering! I've been trekking through the Hinterlands, and I gotta say, there is quite alot to do and see. It doesn't help that I feel the need to pick up every quest, and finish it before I leave the area. I'm gonna be here for a long time...
Phelps1247 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 So what do they give games with actually nudity? AO rating? I'll bet we see a guy's butt, and that required a nudity label. Fucking despise when that happens. Could be worse though. (L.A. Noir) They showed Cassandra's tits in the game. They show your character's too. I'm not linking to the video because it's sponsored. Well I enjoyed my XBO trial but don't want to buy it on PC until there's (hopefully) some mods for better looking characters. I thought I made some better ones but in typical Bioware style they looked way better on the menu than in game.
winny257 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 And you've already played every single-player RPG in the world? Wow! Then save your money for The Witcher 3 (or perhaps for Pillars of Eternity). not all, but very very many, even those that you probably do not even once know. already once heard of "Lands of Lore" or "might and magic"? there are still many old RPGs that were playfully better than the crap that is delivered today. edit: The Witcher 3 may also be a flop like The Witcher 2! in Germany there is a proverb, I hope you can understand it! a blind speaks always, "that I would like to have seen" edit 2 : and what I play until appearing from The Witcher 3? Skyrim I've only times the nose full.
XJ347 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 edit: The Witcher 3 may also be a flop like The Witcher 2! Witcher 2 was a flop? That is news to me... You talking personal opinion or sales numbers? Pretty sure they sold better than expected, and personally I loved the game. Combat was awkward, but the story/mature atmosphere made up for it. Anyways back to Dragon age, I'm still waiting on reviews. Not that I would buy an EA game at full price anyways. Will grab it on sale, when mods start to roll in. After DA2, and ME3, I refuse to pay for their game at full price. Nice to hear it has some good game hours to it, DA2 was pretty damn short... I'm hoping they fix romance so it was more like DA1 and not DA2, the fade to black was insulting, after DA1 had tasteful nudity. I also appreciated that you could corrupt your companions in DA1 if you wanted... Will keep reading to learn more!
arrow72 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 While I'm not a BioWare fan after ME3, I am definitely looking forward to getting DA:I now. And I hope the Witcher 3 flops. Sorry CDPR, but your fanboys don't do you any favors.

Sorry CDPR, but your fanboys don't do you any favors. Well, first sentence: Signed Second sentence? Not so much. Yes, I also beginn to hate all the praise CDR gets before having truly delivered the product. And the constant bitching on how much better Witcher 3 will be, triumphing anything else etc ... But I also want to continue Geralt's story. However, when I look at my gametimes with the Witcher-Series and Bioware-Games ... Geralt sadly never comes close. I played through Witcher 2 twice, mostly because of Act II of course. But since then sometimes had the desire to play again, played a little, then got bored because its still very, very linear and content is not as abundant as some make it out to be. Oh, and because some people always find the reviews by traditional game-sites so suspicious ... I often have a look for the guys at Forbes Magazin. Since Erik Kain there spend much time on Mass Effect 3 and usually tries to be quite objective their opinion has much more impact on me than normal game-sites...or hateful fanboys/anti-fanboys for that matter http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2014/11/11/dragon-age-inquisition-review-into-the-great-wide-open/ http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2014/11/17/dragon-age-inquisition-review-part-two-the-hit-bioware-needed/

jxm Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 There is 2 CDPR games an 6 recent bioware games? Haven't played any of them more than 2 times. They are all linear. True, but at the end of the day I simply spend more time in Thedas than in Geralt's world. Maybe because after all my imagination has more freedom with a created hero (even Hawke to some degree) than Geralt, who I know by now very well and doesn't offer much char-development in your imagination. Don't know, maybe its also because combat is quite tedious in Witcher 1 and 2? I consider both be more like books actually, not that much games. And I do not read books again that frequently... Nah, even that deosn't feel right, because Bioware-Games are as well quite like books in some way...maybe its just a different kind of taste...? Anyway, DAI wil be the perfect distraction while I wonder how I'll solve the damn love-triangle with Triss and Yennefer...oh, and save teh world I guess, or such things...

Imagine yourself a witcher game with character creation and open world. Skyrim would look like like lego game. Cant wait for cyberpunk because next game after it will be just like that.
AwfulArchdemon Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Dammit! I'm trying to speed through the rest of DA2 to see DAI, but I haven't even beaten the Arishok yet! DA2 is NOT a short game if you have both DLCs. I was trying to beat the whole thing on Hard, but when I got DAI, I switched to Normal to try to hurry. I beat DAO and DA2 on Xbox like 5 times, but only got DA games on PC around a year ago, when I discovered they had mods. I'm fiending for the new one, dammit! I'll be able to get a real good comparison of Cass from DA2 and DAI, since I'm looking at her right now. I expect disappointment. Hurry DA2! Hurry hurry hurry hurry hurry.....switching to Casual Hahaha! No shame in my game!
Car Fax Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 If Bioware released a sequel to Jade Empire, I would be ecstatic. Even if it was a reboot, and not a direct sequel, I'd still be interested. Seriously though, Jade Empire? That game gave me my first real "What a twist!" moment ever as a kid.
jxm Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Imagine yourself a witcher game with character creation and open world. Skyrim would look like like lego game. Cant wait for cyberpunk because next game after it will be just like that. I imagine this, and I would love to run around with a Triss-style mage instead of unshaved Geralt but ..house of Witcher is, as far as I am concerned, not so much gameplay and stuff, but the story, which is tightly knit to Geralt and the mystery of his fate, and the chars around him. With an open-world a la Skyrim, and free char-creation and stuff...you already run risk to have the same problems as Skyrim has: A weak main story and plot, weak character-interaction etc... As I see it, the story in Witcher is only so intriguing, because Geralt is just "there", he has a defined character (true, we can later him a bit here and there, more ruthless, a little philantrophic), but mostly he is not a blank page like my Aeryn in Skyrim So I am always careful to say: This game has to be like this game and it'll be even more awesome! I am also actually glad CDred never made Witcher 3 a "real" Skyrim with a real open world, best decision they could have made ... because open world often equals generic-ism, as far as I am concerned. And I am curious if DAI is suffering this as well...already hear such things here and there...

However, I dunno why, the world has never interested me as much as Thedas and Mundus. I can't explain it, because it does have an interesting backstory and everything, but I just don't care for many of the characters and struggles, outside of Geralt and Triss. On the other hand, I absolutely love Thedas and care a lot for everything going on with it. Same thing with Mundus.
winny257 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I wanted unleash no debate about The Witcher!here is actually about DAI, but where we're at it, The Witcher 3 has as DAI also no open world! the corridor are released as in DAI from time to time, after termination of various Quests one comes to the next territory.

DA2 is NOT a short game if you have both DLCs. Don't kill the Arishok, he's a bro. Nah, kill him, preferrably in a duel! Show these horned idiots that guests are not supposed to behead their hosts due to some stupid book. You either go home or kill yourself in shame, if you like, but you don't kill innocent people in a foreign city! The Arishok MUST die! And then ... eventually ... all the rest of them as well Well, maybe I am just annoyed though because I am watching a download for my Geforce, which Dragon Age forces me to update....well, should have done that anyway already...dum di dum .... GET ON WITH IT; LOADING BAR!!!!!!

jxm Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Soooo....Drivers updated, game played, first crash during char-creation...another during some early combat (though not sure what that actually caused...) However of that I have to say: So far I am in love. Of course it's that kind of "excited" love you feel at first sight, or after a first kiss...if it will be for a longer time, I cannot tell after roughly 2 hours. I will surely dedicate this weekend to the Inquisition sitting on my "comfy chair" ... Hearing Varric and Leliana again gave me a cozy feeling, much of the artwork screams DAO all over it, combat looks like DA2 at first, but feels much less "arcadey", though some might deny this. But I like it, though I also liked it in DA2. The tactical cam I don't see myself using that much in the future, at least I got that feeling already. First boss was (on normal) already taking a while to take down... But the world of Thedas already weaved its spell on me again, sucked me in. Something that critically acclaimed RPGs like the fan-favorite Divine Divinity never achieved for me ... yet I will see how long the feeling lasts with DAI.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Y'all niggas talking about dragon age bullshit, and im still here waiting for fallout 4
