Min Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 I've been having a problem with installation. I get everyhting in working order, except that nothing actually shows up on my character or any npcs that ived equipped items to. The only thing that seems to be a problem on my end is the DD esp will somtimes indicate that it needs reactavation when it's already active and nothing has been changed, and that i'll randomly get error messages that my SKSE needs to be updated to a least version seven and that skyrim needs to be loaded from it, even though im using 1.9.32, and only load using the SKSE loader. Iv'e been stuck on this for a lot longer than i should have, any idea what im doing wrong here? If you want help troubleshooting, please upload a complete copy of your Papyrus.0.log (as an zip/rar/7z/etc'ed attachment) in which you reproduce the problem you're experiencing, as well as a complete copy of your load order.
Min Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 I have a request. I always keep keys of the Devious Devices I carry. Basically as a panic button in case something goes wrong (glitches/bugs or just terminal boredom). However, other mods begin more and more to add custom keyed versions of devious items. And those keys aren't always obtainable (even through console commands I can not find the ID for all of them). I propose a panic button in the MCM menu. Unequip all Devious Devices. You're using them for a much different purpose than I am, heh. I could second this; I've had at least one device get unsynced (usually gags for some reason) that I cannot remove but nor can I equip any others to the slot several times during play here and there. You could even call it "Safeword", hehe. You can always reequip unsynced items via the console (Though, I've personally never had a desync happen, unless I was trying to make it happen (With multiple instances of an item in my inventory)). I'm rather hesitant to add an easy out like that: I think if I were to add one, I'd probably add an incentive to not use it too, so that it would only be used in emergencies.
hitit1000 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Hi, thanks for all the work on the mod! It must take alot of time and effort on your part, and I appreciate it. To the point, I know you've widely acknowledged that npc support is always a bit flaky. If you could, would you mind sharing what seems to be te problem? Specifically, with regards to the various Devious Drip spells not functioning properly. Thanks!

Specifically, with regards to the various Devious Drip spells not functioning properly. Thanks! From my todo list: [-] Fix armbinder effects / gag effects / vibration effects, which are sometimes not applying to NPC's. Eh. I'll come back to this later. * This is a mess. * I don't understand why the armbinder magic effect is unapplied upon equipping another item, despite the device that the enchantment is attached to still being equipped. * NPC's sometimes unequip rendered devices upon changing cell. * NPC's do not reliably keep Inventory devices equipped (And never have). I suspect that this is due to the items being slotless. The inventory devices being equipped is not necessary for functionality on NPC's, as a work-around. Not a problem. * HasMagicEffectWithKeyword will not recognize magic effects on NPC's after cell-changes, due to the magic effect being unapplied (Sometimes with the rendered device that the enchantment is on being unequipped, sometimes not). So, the problem is that the enchantment unapplies upon equipping another item (Any item), despite the fact that the NPC is still wearing the item with the enchantment. OnEffectStop() is called for the enchantment, and magic keyword lookups return false. I've no idea what causes that to happen. It's the root cause of all NPC flakiness, though.

Min Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Hello, to start, I would like to thank you for your amazing work. I was wondering if anyone could point me to the ZAP bound animations as the MCM menu reports they're not available and i can't find them anywhere(3 hours spent searching) Thanks for any replies They can be found/registered through ZAP's mcm menu.
Guest smellbo Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I have an idea: How about when you are at 100 arousal, you are fumbling around so much to get the chastity belt/harness off, the key breaks in the lock, meaning you have to go and source another one, prolonging the time you are aroused.

I propose better as it will be devious-friendly : the ultimate key which can open everything like this skeleton key from Nocturne, but for devious devices. Can be bought or found somewhere, your choice, but it would be much better to get something like this instead of having to use console to get each key to open each device if something goes wrong. Or why not a spell ? Could be use on oneself to unlock all equipped devices ! Because there is always the solution to uninstall the mod but it's absolutely not devious-friendly.
Min Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Because there is always the solution to uninstall the mod but it's absolutely not devious-friendly. Uninstalling the mod mid-playthrough is a great way to brick your save.

Uninstalling the mod mid-playthrough is a great way to brick your save. Right, so the player will surely give up on devious mods. But do you have another solution if nothing can be done in game and no console command works ? I mean, where can they be found ? And is it a good solution to use them ? I know modders are working for themselves at first, but sharing the work leads to other ideas/problems/'improvements' and I don't use the Captured Dreams shop mod so I don't know if everything can be found there for unlocking devious devices but if so I don't understand why making a shop having all the keys when it's so 'hard' to get rid of devices normally.

Following the instructions in the FAQ to fix desynced devices (Or following the instructions in the "Known Issues" section to avoid them desyncing, to begin with). There currently exists no generic way of removing all devices (Which is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned). Removing custom mod-added devices might interfere with their quests, or break them outright. I might add an MCM "Panic" button at some point, though it will probably have significant drawbacks to deter it's use, outside of emergency scenarios (I'm not aware of any of those that exist at the moment, either).

windu190 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I personally would only use the panic button in case of emergencies, when there's no legit way to get out of the devious device. But I can't speak for everyone. ^^
Adam Jensen Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Um ever since I upgraded I been having weird random crashes and whenever I check my papyrus log, it is massive and most of the writing seems to be about this mod. I dunno if I did something wrong and thus I am having a massive spam or not, the thing is that this keeps happening even with clean new saves. I would appreciate it if someone can help me in identifying whether this mod is the reason I am crashing or not. Curiously enough, it says a lot about Devious Devices and I haven't even touch one of the devices in that playthrough.

I honestly see no problem with the fact that someone might use it to get out of the restraints, it is their choice, any other person that wants to stick with a legit roleplaying experience does not need to press the button.

It looks like you might have hit a script suspension, and then tried cleansaving? If at some point you loaded your save without dd, saved, and then reloaded dd, that is most likely what caused this problem. You might be able to salvage the save with a tool like http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53045/?

I see nothing in either log to indicate that DD is causing your crash. On the contrary, there's a fair bit of error spam from Sexlab at the end of both logs, just before it quits. It looks like you're running an old version of skse, probably? Sexlab requires the beta version of SKSE.

Looking at the log more closely, you hit a bug that's been fixed for quite some time: The RepopulateNPCs() bug that plagued 2.6.4 - 2.6.6. I haven't had a single reported instance of that bug since then, hmm. Did you restart skyrim between closing your other save, and creating a new one? It doesn't look like you ever opened up the MCM menu, and it's not possible for that bug to occur without changing the "Number of NPC's to be slotted" setting (Though, it shouldn't occur even with that setting changed, since 2.6.6)

And yeah come to think of it I have never messed with the MCM menu for Devious Devices on this save file, in fact I haven't had any contact with Devious Devices as I haven't even visited Captured Dreams Shop.
