I actually can't see all of my posts when browsing my own profile. I posted a bunch on Skyrim SE technical subforums as recently as today but all I see are posts made in general forums. I was trying to find a post I made very, very long time ago about conflict resolutions, which I wanted to refer to someone, however I can't even see this post in my own history. And I know it is there. I noticed that issue in some other discussions much earlier, but paid no attention to it at the time. It seems that some subforums are simply not listed at all anywhere.

You guys should add auto follow threads for the thread owner, I just discovered that when you add a download, even thought you put "follow" on the download page, you actually have to put follow on the support page or else you will never see the users questions... Just discovered ppl questions from months ago on the first mods that I uploaded here. This should be set to auto.

I love this site, so it feels picky to be suggesting things..

 

The adverts keep the lights on I get that, so maybe you could have toggle in profile so adverts are targeted? For example I could say gay adverts please I don't expect that to be everyone's jam but you surely would get more clicks if it were targeted to the user? Defaults to straight but can ask for the man on man stuff lol or trans or lesbian whatever 

 

Wish list item.. but how about optional dating tag so people can say I'm single looking for (list options) and I like (list of options) in profile- then people could search for users on different page. 100% opt in but that would be popular no doubt.

I think that there is also human interaction with a number of bot systems nowadays.  Sort of like how VoiP systems (Voice Over Internet Protocol for the unaware) dials phone numbers and (after a stupid pause on a phone), a human dweeb responds to spam your ear...

 

So basically, the more-recent bot systems likely have live people on the other end just to get past captchas once a site is found.

 

Besides Captcha, I use StopForumSpam and added required additional rotating security questions that actually demands that the reader answer questions by typing solutions correctly. Even then, I get the occasional moron that tries to get in.  Even after one registers, I reverify their IP address with another IP checker, and some real malcontents still get through.

Please throttle Blog posters to maybe 3 blogs a day. When one author posts a half dozen or more blogs per day, it makes the recent activity section worthless.

Their entries flush everyone else off the first page.

If you do not abuse, for example just telling you are part of the community is OK, telling you are sponsored by LLab it is not, then just grab the official logo and use it.

I will - but i sort of hate picking on a specific poster. Are there guidelines for what is acceptable?

No. A few posts, also 3 or 4, are OK. But 20 are for sure not.

Since the thread's inception, there have been roughly a dozen suggestions. Renaming or reordering files in the download list, previewing them, or my own numeric-prefix issue with downloads, mouse-scrolling through screenshots, not seeing one's own posts when browsing one;s own profile, auto-follow when making a thread/download, gifs becoming pngs, and so on.

 

I am curious about any updates currently for any of the suggestions or quirks mentioned.

Many of the things mentioned aren't something we really have much control over.  At least, not without some complicated modifications to the forum software, which is not ideal as such modifications tend to cause problems further down the line.

 

Though I will say stuff like not seeing your recent posts on your profile activity and such will hopefully be fixed relatively soon. It's a problem directly related to how bad the search function is, as profile activity is based off the search index. Some months ago elasticsearch stopped working on the site due to some critical errors, the search index has since been wiped clean and the search engine reverted to using mysql for search... which is garbage. I hope to clear up this issue in the near future and go back to using elasticsearch when I'm able, at which point the profile activity and other search index related issues should improve drastically.

The plugin that added that function was really outdated with the current version of the forum software and causing errors in the backend. So it was disabled as a result. If it's updated or another solution is found it'll be re-added.

Feedback on the feedback, and certainly for something that many a forums utilize.  Thank ye.  Though I do wonder which would be back-burner priorities.  This one at least was addressed.

Why a +18 forum has a +18 session?! Isn't the whole forum +18 since you agreed to enter only if you are +18?

Adult stuff... For me an "adultier" stuff would be showing the bills I pay every month lol.... My IR declaration! The fucking shitty TAXES...... And I don't want to think about those....
