TheWilloughbian Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 You're gonna hate me for it XD but I'd have to say NMM. So long as it isn't used to manage load order it might be possible to move files in and out for testing and still use Vortex at the same time maybe. I guess it depends on how reliant running a Vortex install is on running Skyrim through it. I have some ideas of how it might work, but don't see it being worth all the trouble.
TheWilloughbian Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 I guess the thing for me to ask at this point is how Vortex functions with the Creation Kit. That's thing about NMM is it gets things in a place where the CK can use them.
Grey Cloud Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 You are still talking tripe. Not exactly sure what "move files in and out for testing" means but moving files in and out of the Data folder is not dependent on the mod manager. You cannot move 'files' in such a manner with NMM. No one in their right mind uses more than one mod manager at the same time. There is simply no need to do so and more than one reason not to. 9 hours ago, TheWilloughbian said: I guess it depends on how reliant running a Vortex install is on running Skyrim through it. With Vortex you do have more control over individual files than you do with NMM. Again, I'm not sure what you mean by "a Vortex install". You seem to have an entire suitcase full of terms that only you use. If by "running Skyrim through it" you mean you have to start Skyrim from within Vortex then no, you do not. I run Skyrim from an SKSE shortcut on my desktop as I did when I used NMM. This raises the question of why, if you are trying to use your mod manager to 'move files in and out', you would need to run Skyrim from outside your mod manager. What exactly are you trying to achieve with your game that it requires all this complicated nonsense that is particular and peculiar to you?

You are miles off. Practically all the great mods are the result of a single labor of love with some contribution but the vision comes from a single source. I can't even think of a single example to support your argument unless you mean generic mods like hair packs that add hair models/textures from different artists. There is that and the fact that many (if not most) people already have the mods which they want which do exactly what they want them to do. There simply is no desire or demand to endlessly expand a single game indefinitely for its own sake.

I have zero interest in MO2, which is very complicated to use, or Vortex, which is said to install some other stuff in your machine. Keep a backup of your installation, with only the basic mods. And use a SSD, they run much better than mechanical drives. Another thing I do is to divide mods among different characters. This can be done easily with Wrye Bash, making one bashed patch for each character. Then install one mod at a time. If it is a quest mod, go do it right after install, to check if it will not break your game. There is a lot of bad scripting out there, usually in mods "praised by the community". Some I believe do it on purpose, just to corrupt your save and then say it was your fault. 1 hour ago, FauxFurry said: There is that and the fact that many (if not most) people already have the mods which they want which do exactly what they want them to do. And there are the other provinces of Tamriel, which were common in Oblivion. Just so you know, there were two different Valenwood mods for Oblivion, plus Arenthia which was in the Elder Council mod. Whereas in Skyrim you have Super Mario islands or Star Wars conversions. I still don't understand why parlor modders hates the Elder Scrolls so much. 37 minutes ago, Pamatronic said: Still waiting for Apotheosis or the other parts from "Beyond Skyrim" to be released. I'm not. Already made my own. But it is disapointing when I search for something similar and find nothing. I blame it on parlor modding, because of the privileges these "big projects" have in the "community". Couple the current scenario with NFTs and the final doom of modding (for all games) will be only a matter of time.

Considering your 13.5k post and 0 uploads to this site, I don't understand how such a prolific modder wouldn't understand the way NMM works and how it might be useful to someone trying to manage 150+ gigs of custom assets (i.e., textures and meshes, that I might not be asked to argue semantics again). 3 hours ago, FauxFurry said: There is that and the fact that many (if not most) people already have the mods which they want which do exactly what they want them to do. My main reason for using NMM is with all the texture/mesh editing I do, it's just easier having the files I'm working on in the games data folder. Not that having the amount of loose files I do isn't a pain, but it beats the hell out of repacking a BSA every ten mins XD. I'm not really trying to fly the flag of one mod manager over the other, just trying to use the tool which best suits my needs. I just went with NMM 0.65.8, as it was the earliest version that supported Skyrim. I'm sure I'll run into issues with anything I try to install that uses a newer Fomod, but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. I'll have to give the version you mention a try. -------- Little more eye candy for those that may enjoy it. : )

Zor2k13 Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 What we need is a new game with a big single player experience with better graphics and features than previous games but what we will get instead is the next elder scrolls game starring skyrim grandma ( a youtuber look her up) she was scanned into the game. Don't think for a second todd doesn't know about this little den of dirtyness since all roads eventually lead here for the skyrim is for porn crowd. Unfortunately bethesda was the last big single player dev out there and now macroshit owns them. I wouldn't be surprised if the next ES game had not only hand holding tutorial at the beginning but a bunch of diversity and inclusion training too. The good ol days are over, the quick cash is still consoles which means always online lag player. I don't think the consoles will upgrade for some time since the whole chip industry is going through some serious moving and shaking for where to manufacture next to avoid china and taiwan problems. Eventually more games will be made but of course for consoles and the game devs are consolidating to just a few big names. We are gonna get starfield and the gender pronoun garbage that goes with it, then the next ES game and what we will see from those games will be the general direction of the future for those kinds of game ie just how bad will it get. Modding is hard... just ask GTA modders how they feel about rockstar. There is so much organization and resources surrounding bethesda games and just a few other major companies games. You mean we have a mod organizer? wha? how many games actually have mod organizer software? just a few. There are very few actual porn games that are major games and I have watched the development of a game from I think it was zaz and some others some years ago but I don't know if it ever went anywhere. Really wish we had a well made, fleshed out functional open world porn game but we don't we just have mods for bethesda games. I don't use a mod manager I just edit the plugins.txt file and loader menu order when applicable.
