PRO TIP: Always make sure you run any installer/ application with admin rights (specifically set it up for MO2 as other such as TES5Edit, LOOT, and so on would be dependent on it)

Spoiler

In short, if you are going to use any (.exe) executable, always right click it, then properties, under compatibility enable Run this program as an administrator.

01. SKYRIM REQUIREMENTS, PRE INSTALLATION & INSTALLATION : (BEFORE INSTALLING THE GAME REFER POINT of Point 2.1 given below and follow steps accordingly)

Spoiler

1. Get the latest version of the following:

DirectX, Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes and your graphic card drivers.

2. Disable your antivirus temporarily when installing game, mods and/or while running the game (OPTIONAL STEP)

Here is a comprehensive video tutorial for the game installation

02. SETTING UP DIRECTORIES :

I personally have a specific setup for making my directories, the video in Point 3 below will also guide you for the same.

Basically you should have and be aware of the following directories:

2.1. Where all BASE GAMES are installed [NEVER INSTALL YOUR GAME INTO THE PROGRAM FILE/(X86) DIRECTORY. Preferably, make a Folder that will contain all your games (say, D:\GAMES\TESVLE). Make sure the folder names are not too long and that you are not making too many folders within folders. If you followed exactly what is mentioned, you will have your game installed in the TESVLE folder (it will have a data folder and the skyrim launcher)]

2.2. Where MO2 and loot gets installed (Say D:\Executables\MO2; there should be LOOT, TES5Edit and so on folders for each tool; for now just create MO2 folder and install MO2 in it)

2.3. MO2 working mods and profile folder for each game into a single working folder (So under say D:\WMF\TESVLE; there should be F04, TESSE and so on folders for each game, for now just make the directories as mentioned in bold)

03. SETTING UP MOD ORGANIZER (MO2) :

Note 1 - There are many options to mod the game, manually or via different mod managers, this guide will only cover mostly installation of mods via mod organizer.

Note 2 - You should run the game once via skyrim launcher before installing MO2, no need to start a game, just run it and close it, it helps to initialize all the requirements.

3.1. Instance Configuration

You will obviously be installing mods for more than one game, managing instances will help you achieve that (even if you have only one game to mod this is a useful and compulsory step)

You must create and configure a GLOBAL INSTANCE for each of your game (Create say D:\WMF\TESVLE; there should be F04, TESSE and so on folders for each game, for now just make the directories as mentioned in bold)

Spoiler

1801256279_CORRECTInstanceConfig.PNG.32c14622848c2f526e850161e36b9931.PNG

3.2. Profile Configuration

This is an advantage of using MO2, you can configure multiple profiles and have different mod setup and saves for each profile.
(Pro Tip: Never alter your Default Profile, simply click copy and enter the name for a new profile. Enable Automatic Archive Invalidation, do not enable the other 2 options unless you know what you are doing)

Spoiler

1110840301_CORRECTProfileConfig.PNG.a9b0e6686321e0fddc4f881cd31f0a5e.PNG

I suggest creating at least 2 profiles other than the default profile. One profile would be your permanent/ most stable profile. The other you can use for testing and trying out mods and after that you may add it to your permanent/ stable profile. You can obviously create more as per your needs.

3.3. Nexus Integration

Make an account on Nexus if you don't already have one. When asked in MO2 to integrate/connect automatically to Nexus Account, do so. Incase you have missed/skipped it,  do so from - settings>nexus>connect to nexus

3.4. MO2 Features and Usage

ALWAYS GO THROUGH THE MO2 TUTORIAL FULLY ATLEAST ONCE. If you have skipped the tutorial you can always re-launch it and it will ask again or find the tutorials under the help tab.

Understand that modding is so very comprehensive and you only learn through time, just to give you a glimpse of the depth, here is a guide only covering MO. (Link only for reference a simple video linked below)

If after scrolling right to the bottom of the guide you feel fatigued, hope you get the point I am trying to make. I'll try and simplify things as much as possible.

3.5. MO2 Interface, Basics, Conflicts, Overwrites and Load order explained.

3.5.1 MO2 Interface & Basics

Spoiler

MO2.png.4568998c0f7d9069b820f9d275cd7da4.png

1. Instance Manager - A Global Instance helps you use the same MO2 installation for multiple games. Here you can add new games for MO2 to manage and switch between them.

2. Install a new mod from an archive - You'll be using this to install mods that you did not directly download using MO2 from nexus. (Basically this helps you install mods; from locations other than MO2's default download folder; as per this guide D:\WMF\TESVLE\downloads; alternatively you may also choose to dump/move all your mod archives to the downloads folder and they will automatically show up in the downloads tab in the right pane.

3 & 7. Configure Profiles - Refer point 3.2. In short, different profiles allow you to have sets of mods enabled. So lets say you have profile 1 where you only want to install mods that are stable/ not beta. And then you can have a profile 2 where you can test beta mods without worrying to corrupt your profile 1 save.

4 & 8. Modify Executables - Here you can register all your .exe executables such as SKSE, Bodyslide, xEDIT, LOOT and so on.

5. Tools - Mostly you'll be using this to tweak your .ini settings.

6. Settings - Different MO2 configuration settings.

9. (Right pane) Tabs - The tab headers are self explanator yet, Plugins -  A plugin is a collection of records organized in groups, each of them defining a form ?; Archives - They are bundle of game assets (textures, scripts, etc), they get loaded into the game in the plugin (priority) order as seen in the right pane; Data - This is the folder where all your mod files get installed ; the last 2 tabs are literally self explanatory.

3.5.2 Conflicts, Overwrites and Load order

Spoiler

3.5.2.1 Conflicts - A conflict is when 2 mods have/ alter the same file. The simplest example would be a Hair Retexture Mod, what it does is it alters the properties of the base Hair. You can see a column named conflicts in the left pane, each one having symbol has mods that are overwrite or are overwritten by another mod. The ones with red minus sign mean they are losing conflict, i.e. their files are being overwritten by another mod. And the ones with green plus sign is vice versa, meaning their files overwrite another mod. To specifically know which files does a mod overwrite or being overwritten, simply double click the any mod with the flag and go to its conflict tab.

3.5.2.2 Overwrites and Load Order - Here's, where the load order comes into play, there are two panes left and right and 2 types of load orders (although both are same if you do not move any manually or via LOOT), so the load order priority on the left pane is for assets as explained in point 3.5.2.1, so make sure you read mod descriptions carefully are some mods have to be overwritten while others are to be avoided being overwritten, example Hair retexture have to overwrite the hair mod. While care has to be taken nothing overwrites XPMSE.

3.5.2.3 Overwrite Folder - All the output files get generated here whenever you run any executable. This folder overwrites all others. Hence, it is advised to know which files exist in the folder.

Linking a video below that will help digest things easier, do not skip watching this video, watch it right till the end.

Here is a comprehensive video tutorial on using Mod Organizer (IF YOU PLAN ON USING MO, WATCH THIS VIDEO ATLEAST ONCE)

I know even this video is quite extended and much of it you might never need, will come up with something simpler soon.

For now try learning the basics at least namely all the icons, downloading and installing a mod correctly, left pane, right pane and its respective tabs; load order and plugin order, conflict(s), overwrite ,explorer location of mods and ini files and adding/running executables.

04. SKSE & .INI SETTINGS :

From SKSE Readme - The Skyrim Script Extender, or SKSE for short, is a modder's resource that expands the scripting capabilities of Skyrim. It does so without modifying the executable files on disk, so there are no permanent side effects.

4.1 GET THE LATEST VERSION (ARCHIVE OR INSTALLER IS YOUR CHOICE). EXTRACT OR INSTALL IT IN YOUR BASE GAME FOLDER (D:\GAMES\TESVLE) THAT SHOULD HAVE THE SKYRIM LAUNCHER AND DATA FOLDER.

4.2 GO TO D:\GAMES\TESVLE/DATA/SKSE AND OPEN SKSE.INI AND ADD THE LINES GIVEN BELOW AND SAVE IT. IF THERE'S NO /SKSE FOLDER AND/OR .INI FILE IN IT, CREATE THEM. SIMPLY MAKE A TEXT DOCUMENT COPY THE LINES GIVEN BELOW AND RENAME IT AS SKSE.INI

4.3 REGISTER THE EXECUTABLE INTO MO2.

4.3.1 Refer steps to do so in the video linked below point 5.2. Preferably launch the game after point 5 and do the steps mentioned therein to confirm a successful installation of SKSE.

IMPORTANT NOTE: FROM NOW ON EVERYTIME YOU WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME YOU HAVE TO RUN IT VIA SKSE EXECUTABLE THAT WE REGISTERED IN MO2.

05. xEDIT AND CLEANING THE ESMs :

5.1 Download xEdit and install it to D:\Executables\TES5Edit

5.2 Register the xEdit and QuickAutoClean (QAC) executables into MO2. Steps to do so are in the video below.

5.5 AT THIS POINT I ADVICE RUNNING YOUR GAME ONCE VIA SKSE. SIMPLY SELECT SKSE IN EXECUTABLES RIBBON AND CLICK RUN. YOU ARE ADVICED NOT TO START A NEW GAME, JUST RUN THE EXECUTABLE, HIT '~' KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD AND TYPE GETSKSEVERSION>HIT ENTER. THE SKSE VERSION YOU INSTALLED (IN POINT 4) SHOULD BE DISPLAYED. THAT'S IT QUITE THE GAME. FROM NOW ON, EVERYTIME YOU HAVE TO RUN A MODDED GAME YOU USE THE SKSE EXECUTABLE.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTES: (DON'T YOU DARE SKIP READING THESE)

A. ALWAYS READ THE DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS SECTION OF ANY AND EVERY MOD THAT YOU INSTALL OR PLAN TO INSTALL, ONLY AFTER THAT SHOULD YOU INSTALL THE MOD.

B. MODDING IS PERSONAL, THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS/WAYS TO DO CERTAIN THINGS. INFINITE MODS THAT DO THE SAME THING, EACH DIFFERENTLY.

C. EVERYTHING IS AFFECTED BY THE EFFLUX OF TIME, I (OR SOMEONE ELSE HOPEFULLY) WILL TRY AND KEEP THIS GUIDE UPDATED BUT THERE'S ALWAYS A POSSIBILITY OF UPDATES OR THAT SOMETHING NEW HAS TAKEN OVER.

DO NOT WORRY, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE! JUST REACH OUT AND YOU'LL GET THE REQUIRED HELP SOONER OR LATER. TILL THEN TRY LEARNING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ON YOUR OWN.

(Although, this is a quick start guide/ cheatbook and you can simply follow it to have a working modded game, I recommend that you use it a reference guide because without knowing or understanding what you are doing, one can only do more harm than good more sooner than later.)

06. MASTERS & OTHER ESSENTIALS :

6.1. SkyUI

For any MOD that you download make sure that you are downloading it for your specific game. So ensure that you're on the Nexus Skyrim page, under Files, Main Files, download the latest version using Mod Manager Download button. It will show up under downloads tab in mod manager, simply double click to install it. And then click the checkbox to enable it. Steps to do so are in the video below.

Download SKYUI from the link given here. (The video is for SKYRIM SE and not LE, so do not use the links given in that video)

Spoiler

6.2. iHUD:

Get the latest version using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order). Usually, you should always get the latest version, however, I have tested only its older version (2.4), so this time I suggest you that that one.

6.3. UIExtensions:

Get the latest version (1.2.0) using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order).

6.4. Papyrus:

6.4.1 Papyrus Logging:

A useful and important requirement when you ask for help on this forum or anywhere else for that matter is to include your papyrus log. By default the logging is disabled and it should be kept that way when playing. However, incase you encounter any issues and are actively looking for possible causes for issues/troubleshooting that is when you should enable the papyrus logging. You should disable the logging again once the issues are resolved and you resume your regular gameplay. If you keep it on all the time, it's impacts your system resources and will unnecessarily cause extra stress.

To enable papyrus logging, in the mod manager, under tool plugins, there is an INI editor. In it, edit/add the following lines to your skyrim.ini file:

Spoiler
[Papyrus]
bEnableLogging=1
bEnableTrace=1
bLoadDebugInformation=1

Modify all of the above back to '0' once you are done with troubleshooting/ do not want to generate log files anymore.

Your papyrus log files by default are created in the Documents>My Games>SkyrimLogsScript

6.4.2 PapyrusUtil:

An SKSE plugin adding several new scripts with native functions that provide various conveniences related to data storage and other misc functions to the scripter/ modder.

Get the latest version (3.3) using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order).

IMPORTANT NOTE

MAKE SURE THIS MOD IS OVERWRITING ALL OTHERS. NOTHING WITH CONFLICTING FILES SHOULD EVER BE LOADED AFTER THIS MOD.

*As many mods including the popular ones such as campfire, frostfall, and simply knock include an outdated version that will cause issues. It is advised to overwrite them with the most current version of the plugin.

(REFER POINT 3.5.2  AND WATCH THE VIDEO LINKED BELOW IT FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF MOD OVERWRITE (LOAD ORDER) AND CONFLICTS)

6.5. JContainers:

Get the latest version (3.3.0.RC.3 ) using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order).

07. PATCHES & FIXES :

7.1. Crash Fixes/ Skyrim Memory Patch:

VERY IMPORTANT STEP: (DON'T YOU DARE SKIP ANY INSTRUCTION CONTAINED HERE)

THIS IS THE VERY FIRST CRITICAL DECISION THAT YOU WILL BE TAKING. WATCH THE VIDEO LINKED BELOW TO UNDERSTAND WHY IS IT CRITICAL. BASICALLY, IF YOU DO NOT GET THIS RIGHT, YOU WILL CONSTANTLY FACE ISSUES WITH YOUR GAME AND PROBABLY CTDs. NOTE THAT THE VIDEO COVERS INSTALLATION OF 2ND METHOD MENTIONED HERE, WATCH THE VIDEO AND UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF MEMORY BLOCKS. HOWEVER, IF YOU PLAN TO FOLLOW THE 1ST METHOD, DO NOT FOLLOW THE STEPS OF THE VIDEO, INSTEAD FOLLOW THE SETPS GIVEN IN THIS GUIDE BELOW.

THERE ARE 2 WAYS AVAILABLE TO MANAGE YOUR SKYRIM MEMORY ALLOCATION, TO DO SO FOLLOW ANY AND ONLY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING METHODS: (JUST SO THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BOTHER ASKING ME, MY SUGGESTION IS THAT YOU USE CRASH FIXES METHOD.)

7.1.1. CRASH FIXES - BY EDITING CRASHFIXES.INI. DETAILED STEPS TO DO SO:

7.1.1.1 Installing Crash Fixes

Spoiler

 i. If you are using this method, do not combine it or use any other method along with it, you have been warned i.e. when this is enabled then Safety Load and SSME/SKSE memory patch are not needed.

ii. Firstly, you will need a custom plugin loader so that this fix get loaded before the game initializes. To do so, you will need SKSE Plugin Preloader. The link is given below. Note: This mod is not to be installed in MO2, you have to extract the downloaded file 'd3dx9_42.dll' to the base game directory D:\GAMES\TESVLE (one that contains the data folder and skyrim launcher)

iii. Download and install Crash Fixes. Get the latest version (12 ) using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order).

iv. After enabling, right click on the Crash Fixes Mod in the load order>Open in Explorer>SKSE>Plugins. Edit the following lines in the CrashFixPlugin.ini :

v. That is it you're done.

7.1.1.2 Tweaking Crash Fix Plugin. (Refer Important Game, Save and Load Notes before doing anything mentioned herein)

Spoiler

1. Keep a track of your maximum load block. Simply click '~' to open your console and check out its value. If it is nearing 80% then; Preferably, go to the following locations and check it. Go to each location one after the another using console commands given below. Run, jump, roll your camera like crazy, try getting all the water, sky to toggle on your screen. Attack as many NPCs as you can. In short, wreck havoc and try and trigger as many elements as possible. The max value should be around 80%, if it is higher than that, you need to make a modification in value in your CrashFixPlugin.ini. Make sure that you get killed at the end of testing and re-spawn at the docks, wait for a few minutes and quit your game. Next time you launch it, delete any AutoSaves at that location and load your stable saveDo this process once again after you have finished installing most of your mods and every time you add any heavy mod to your load order or you feel your max value would cross 80%.

2. Tweaking your Crash Fix Plugin.

Spoiler

1. Open CrashFixPlugin.ini. (Right click on the Crash Fixes Mod in the load order>Open in Explorer>SKSE>Plugins). Find and edit the following lines in it.

2. CustomMemoryBlockTotalSizeMb=xxx. Increase it by 10 or 20 and recheck the max value in-game.

3. 80-85% is optimal if you have all the heavy mods you'll need installed. If you are still in the process of figuring out and adding mods, 70% would be the optimal range.

Important Note: There are some notable issues when used with ENB. Tweaks to resolve the same given below. Refer the mod description thoroughly once before using this mod and do the necessary modifications.

7.1.2. SHESHONS MEMORY BLOCK ALLOCATION - BY EDITING SKSE.INI. DETAILED STEPS TO DO SO:

Spoiler

i. GO TO D:\GAMES\TESVLE/DATA/SKSE AND OPEN SKSE.INI AND ADD THE LINES GIVEN BELOW AND SAVE IT.

Spoiler

FOR THE FOLLOWING FIXES,  simply get the latest versions using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order).

7.2. Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch (USLEP)

7.3. Cobb Bug Fixes

7.4. Bug Fixes (v2 Beta 2)

7.5. Modern Brawl Bug Fix or Enhanced Blood Textures (EBT) - EBT includes MBBF. In short, install any one not both.

08. BODYSLIDE :

8.1 Get the latest version and install it like any other mod in MO2.

8.2 What is more important is that you register it as an executable in MO2 and run it from there itself in future.

To do so, in MO2, click/go to the data tab in the right pane in it, CALIENTES TOOLS>BODYSLIDE.  Right click the the Bodyslide x64.exe>Add as Executable.

That's all it takes to install bodyslide and add it as an executable.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS MOD AND DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH IT, READ ABOUT IT, WATCH TUTORIALS IF YOU FEEL LIKE EXPLORING MORE. BUT BEFORE THAT STICK TO BASICS. FOR STARTERS, DO NOT HIT SAVE! I REPEAT DO NOT HIT THE SAVE BUTTON WHEN INSIDE BODY SLIDE. YOUR CHANGES GET CAST INTO STONE IF YOU DO THAT.

8.3 How to use bodyslide? (i.e modify Presets, build Assets and Custom Presets)

Spoiler

i. Launch bodyslide from the executable we added in MO2. Select the bodyslide executable and click RUN.

ii. At the very first launch, it will automatically detect games installed, if you have run them atleast once and ask which game are you using it for. Select TESVLE.

iii. Basics first, it might look very complex, but it is a very friendly tool. The Outfit/Body dropdown will list all your bodies and outfits. The Preset dropdown will list all you body presets/types, it is here you can change or choose how do you want your character body to be in-game, say slim or curvy or you may move the sliders to customize the body to your preference. The Group Filter basically groups stuff, it is very helpful as you can have literally thousands of outfits, now imagine if you had to only alter a few, you would have to stifle through those thousand to find and modify ones you wanted, this is where it help as it groups stuff so you can choose specific groups and only modify those selected groups, moreover you can even make custom groups of your own. Outfit filter needs no explanation, it simply helps you search/filer specific outfit. Preview button shows the real-time preview of changes/ selection that you make.  The Sliders help you modify stuff as described by them. Lastly, there is Build and Batch Build, clicking these finalizes the changes you made.

iv. Every time you add a new outfit/armor/accessory, if you want it to match the body you selected say curvy or customized, you will also have to edit the outfits to match you body. To do so, hit preview, choose the PRESET of you choice, go to group filter, choose groups, select all including unassigned (excluding half hdt), click OK, Tick/Enable Build Morphs, hit Batch Build and then finally hit Build. Give it some time to do its task and then exit bodyslide. Basically, you're done.

v. The files with your selection go to the overwrite folder. You will have a meshes folder, if you have finalized your load order, add that meshes folder as a mod to your load order. To do so, simply right click the overwrite folder>create mod>(give it a name) Bodyslide Output. Enable it in the load order (left pane).

09. RACEMENU :

Get the latest version using mod manager download option. Install it via downloads tab (Right pane), then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order).

10. BODY REPLACER, SKINS AND OTHER BEAUTIFICATIONS

10.1. Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Edition (CBBE)

This is another mother of all mods. It is a Body Replacer meaning that it replaces all the adult vanilla female bodies (player and NPC) with one that is fully customizable through the BodySlide tool and BodySlide's RaceMenu Morphs plugin. In short, any changes to female body are only possible due to this mod.

Get the latest version (3.4r) using mod manager download option. It is packed as an Installer, so when you double click to install it via downloads tab (Right pane), it will pop up a window with various options. The options have been explained as well as recommended below, enable the ones preferred and install the mod. Then enable it in MO2 (left pane/load order) and you're set. Do not worry, you can change your preference later on easily. Not just that you can customize the body as per your liking, steps to do so are given below.

Spoiler

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2666

Installer Options:

Slim is the default CBBE body, and is a version of CBBE based on a natural and healthy pear-shaped female.

Curvy is based on the original CBBE, and is more voluptuous than Slim, but still realistic in its proportions.

Vanilla is based on the Vanilla body, and made to work with CBBE textures. The breasts are lowered/reshaped to make them look more realistic, while the waist is thicker than the other CBBE types, and the pelvic region more defined.

(Choose from the above 3 choices as per your preference.)

CBBE Face Pack is for those who don't feel like searching for a decent face mod to go with the base CBBE textures. This pack does not contain any new or edited face presets; it contains textures only. Also includes 'Eyebrows Match Hair' in two shades and three styles (six sets in total), and a 'dirt to beauty marks' option. (Enable this option)

NeverNude are the Curvy, Slim and Vanilla bodies that have vanilla-style underwear. These are found in the "02 NeverNude" sub directory of the "04 Underwear Slim", "05 Underwear Curvy" and "06 Underwear Vanilla" folders. Caliente Undies/CalUndies are the Slim, Curvy and Vanilla bodies with modern style underwear. The panties come in 'full brief' (CalUndies1) and 'high-leg' (CalUndies2) shapes. (If you enable any of these option, you will always have your underwear on. Selecting 'None', will enable stripping all your clothes including your underwear.)

Enable/ get the Caliente Underwear Textures.

Texture quality depends upon your CPU and Graphics Specs, if you have a monster rig only then go for Ultra. This option is purely personal choice. I recommend Medium. However, go for the lowest setting on low spec PCs.

Again, get brows as per your choice, get the dirt marks too.

TexBlendLite is a one-click application for fixing neckseams between the default CBBE body textures and any non-CBBE FacePack face texture replacer. (You do not require this)

There a few others as well namely UNP, UNPB and 7B, whichever you choose is personal choice. For simplicity and uniformity within this guide I am only covering CBBE throughout.

From hereon, there are many options available for this section for skins, hair and other beautifications, whatever you choose is purely personal choice.

10.2. Skins

In the section above I have only covered CBBE, there are other body replacers too. So in this section make sure you download files specific to the body replacer you download and installed. 12. FNIS

This is the mother of all mods, do not mess up with its installation. Without it no custom animation is possible in Skyrim. Follow everything to the word.

12.1 Get the latest version and install the following 3 files like any other mod in MO2:

FNIS Behaviour

FNIS Creature Pack

FNIS Spells

12.2 What is more important is that you register FNIS BEHAVIOUR it as an executable in MO2 and run it from there itself in future.

i. Right click the installed mod FNIS BEHAVIOUR>OPEN IN EXPLORER>TOOLS>GenerateFNIS_for_Users. Copy the folder path. (It should have GenerateFNISforUsers.exe)

ii. Under Modify Executables>Add from File>Paste the copied folder path>Select the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe.

That's all it takes to install FNIS behavior and add it as an executable.

Now since it helps with custom animations, you have to run it every time you add or modify any animation mod.

You will have to run a generator tool GenerateFNISforUsers.exe (part of FNIS Behavior) every time you have installed or uninstalled FNIS, or an FNIS based mod. That is just not it, additionally for creatures, when you uninstall a mod that uses FNIS Creatures, you first have press the "De-Install Creatures" button, and then run the "Update FNIS Behaviors"

There is little point in running it as it concerns with animation mods and has to be run every time on adding or removing any mod concerned with animations. As per this guide, the best time to run it would be post point 20 i.e. after you have finally installed all/most of your animation mods.

So, no need to run it yet, we will be running it in point 20. (Because it will make files in overwrite folder, you need to be familiar with it. Also, if run, fixes such as 'Skeleton Arm Fix'  has to be enabled, besides the other fixes it covers and then the Update FNIS Behavior button has to be clicked. However, do not worry if you already messed up and run FNIS without following correct steps, simply following the correct steps again will ensure its smooth working.)

12.3 Steps to update/run FNIS behaviour

Spoiler

1. Check your overwrite folder (located at the very bottom of your load order)

1.1 Double click it and check its contents. (If you are following this guide to the word, there should be 3 folders namely skse, TES5EDIT Backups and TES5EDIT Cache, take a screenshot if necessary with all directories expanded and close it. Now, you can either add it as a mod or do nothing, I suggest just to take note of the folders (detailed screenshot) and leave them be. Or you could add them as a mod to your load order, to do so simply right click on the overwrite folder>create mod> (give it any name) First Overwrite Dump. Click to enable the mod.

2. Run GenerateFNISforUsers executable that we added through MO.

2.1 Tick/Enable the 'Skeleton Arm Fix'. And then the Update FNIS Behavior button has to be clicked. (It also cover a plethora of other fixes, they have been described and you will know to enable them if you have read all the description and requirements of mods you have installed. As per my guide currently you do not need to tick anything other than the Skeleton Arm Fix. Yet, feel free to ask queries for the same.)

3. Now you have to make a choice as FNIS has generated its files in the overwrite directory.

3.1 If you are most probably going to add more/ remove mods that might alter any animation, do not do anything, you're done. Enjoy your game. And remember that you will have to run a generator tool GenerateFNISforUsers.exe (part of FNIS Behavior) every time you have installed or uninstalled FNIS, or an FNIS based mod. i.e. any mod that has any possible kind of animation. That is just not it, additionally for creatures, when you uninstall a mod that uses FNIS Creatures, you first have press the "De-Install Creatures" button, and then run the "Update FNIS Behaviors"

3.2 However, if you have somewhat finalised your load order/ choice of mods and will no longer make frequent changes to it then, it is advisable to add the files from your overwrite folder to your load order, to do so, right click on Overwrite>Create Mod> (name it) FNIS Output. You now have a new mod in the load order/left pane. Enable your “FNIS Output” and keep it near the bottom of your load order i.e the said FINIS Output should be placed after(overwrite) any and all mods that could possibly have animation.

3.3 If after adding FNIS Output to your load order, if you add/remove mods or have any issues, simply right click the FNIS Output and Remove the Mod. And then repeat the procedure as per step 2 and 3.1 or 3.2. (i.e. re-run GenerateFNISforUsers, make sure the fixes needed are ticked and click the Update FNIS Behavior button.

12.4 Important points to be aware of:

1. FNIS has animation limits. The regular one is capped at 10,000 animations. And the XXL one at 32,000.

2. While counting FNIS animations even a twitch will be counted as a separate animation. So, lets say you have a mod that has a killmove animation, such single kill move animation can have many (FNIS) animations?

3. For those going over 10k limit or nearing/ exceeding 100% CTD probability, it is advisable to understanding a few things. Also there is a fix for the same. However, nothing is magic so be careful of your system load and tweak it accordingly. Further, also pay attention to the temperature of your PC components and overall temperature, when playing it should be anywhere between 60° C to 80° C. Read the FNIS article and the description of Anim LCF, do not proceed without reading/ understanding or you will be faced with consequences. You have been warned!

Important Game, Save and Load Notes: (Don't Skip)

1. Steps to make saves the right way. If you're following my guide to the word, it is time to launch the game and make an Initial save.

Spoiler

1. Be cautious and preferably skip the opening sequence directly to the character creation screen, use Quick Start - Skip The Opening Sequence. You have to make sure this mod is enabled every time you plan to start a new game.

2. Once you have finalized your character and walk out of the cave, make sure you crouch left CTRL and hide behind the rock, do not run around or you will be engaged into a hostile scene which will leave all your efforts futile. Once your companion says it's safe, walk a few steps.

3. Now, run up and down the hill, jump every few minutes and spend at least 10 real world minutes.

4. Now Manually Save your game and do not ever overwrite this save.

5. It takes time for the game to load everything, patience is key, so every time you add mods to you game, repeat points 3 & 4 given here.

6. My advise with save files - Always rely on manual saves, make sure you make one beforehand every time you are going to enter a hostile scenario/ trigger many scripts,  do not save your game when in combat or being attacked, try avoiding to save your game between quests and in interiors (i.e. houses, palaces, sewers, etc.), it is always best to save at a location where there are not many people around and under the clear sky.

2. Crash Fixes Tweaks - If you are using the OSAllocators method (refer point 7.1.1.1), you may (now) refer and follow the steps mentioned in 7.1.1.2.

18. SSL AF AND DEPENDENCIES/ COMPLEMENTARIES

All the necessary information is provided below.

Spoiler

SSL AF

Steps to get it working:

1. Download the latest full framework archive (v162)

2. Put it in the MO2 working mods and profile folder (So under say D:\WMF\TESVLE\downloads) (i.e. MO2 download folder). Then go to the right pane of MO2, downloads tab, double click the file and install it.

3. (optional, but recommended for safest upgrade) Disable ALL SexLab related mods except for SexLab.esm and any that are absolutely required or disabling will mean losing progress on in some way. (i.e. Install this mod before installing any other mod from this website)

4. Next step is to run FNIS. (Note: If you have slightest doubt about FNIS, refer point 12 of this guide atleast once before proceeding)

4.1 Check your overwrite folder (located at the very bottom of your load order)

4.1.1 Double click it and check its contents.

4.2.2. Run GenerateFNISforUsers executable that we added through MO.

4.2.3 Tick/Enable the 'Skeleton Arm Fix'. And then the 'Update FNIS Behavior' button has to be clicked. (It also cover a plethora of other fixes, they have been described and you will know to enable them if you have read all the description and requirements of mods you have installed. As per my guide currently you do not need to tick anything other than the Skeleton Arm Fix. Yet, feel free to ask queries for the same.)

5. You should see a line that says "Reading SexLab ..." if not you've done something wrong. (Refer this guide for help and any required mods you missed or steps you failed to follow)

6. If all goes well you will have 2 lines in the end saying xxxxx animations for xxx mods successfully included.

6. Load your save game and you should see a notification that SexLab is updating and/or installing, it will then go through the update process. Note: f you were using a version of SexLab such as 1.59c or older, you will not get this notification and will instead need to go into the SexLab MCM and click the Install button.

[*]Wait 1-2 minutes, until you see a notification that says SexLab has finished updating and/or installing [*]Wait another 30 seconds or so and then perform a quick test animation either via the SexLab MatchMaker mod or by starting one via the animation editor. [*]Assuming the test animation was successful, save your game with the update now fully applied, you should see the appropriate version number listed on the last page of the SexLab MCM. [*](optional, but recommended for safest upgrade) if you followed step 3, you should now reinstall all the SexLab mods you disabled, ensuring you are using the latest version of each. For best results reinstall them one at a time and make sure they are functional with the new version of SexLab before reinstalling the next one.

Important points to be aware of:

Spoiler

1. Refer point 12.4 if not read already (Do not skip this)

2. FNIS animation limit and SL animation limits are different. SL has an animation limit of 500 each for humans and creatures. The SL animation limit considers animations that would be covered in points 19 & 20.

3. So you will have to consider both limits FNIS and SL otherwise you'll being constantly be facing its consequences. Everything related to FNIS limits have been covered in depth in point 12.4.

4. You can increase the SL limit by using this mod. (Note: I have not tested this mod, so use at your caution)

19.2 Devious Framework and mods

All the necessary information is provided below.

Simply installing the mod will not cut it this time, you need to follow some extra steps for DD to work. Steps to do so given below.

Spoiler

i. If you are following this guide, you will have all its requirements installed already, if not get them first.

ii. You need to build it assets using body slide. (Refer point 8 of this guide if you not familiar with body slide.)

Note: If you have the slightest doubt about the use of bodyslide then you must refer point 8 entirely at least once.

iii. Make sure that your overwrite folder has no meshes folder in it. If you are following this guide, you should not have any. Incase you dohave such folder, figure out what does it pertain to, if you have no clue about it, then copy it to a safe location for the time being and after completing all the steps mentioned here, simple paste it back into the overwrite folder.

iii. After installing and enabling DD in your load order, go to bodyslide executable and run it.

iv. If there are any existing group filters, clear them (click X). Then go to the magnifying icon in group filer and click choose groups.

v. Primarily, select anything beginning with 'DD', Once the groups are chosen, click OK. (Note: If your following steps in guide right from the start then instead of this point, do as suggested in point x below.)

vi. Go to the preset and select the preset of your choice that you want to play in game, using preview will help you make a choice. As per this guide and my recommendation select CBBE Curvy (Outfit).

v. Then, click build morphs and further click batch build. Go through the list of outfits to check if anything that I said not to include such as half HDT or if you are using CBBE preset then anything UNP shows up there, if it does then, you need to repeat from step  iv.

vi. Finally, click build. It will take a while to process and after that you will receive a pop up window for choices, select HDT wherever available other than that the choices should not matter.

vii. Once the processing is done you will be again on the slider window of bodyslide. Close body slide.

viii. Basically you are done, also if you are surely modify/ add more devices then you should not do anything further.

ix. However and advisably you should not keep stuff in your overwrite folder. So if you have finalised your mod list, then you may add the overwrite files as a mod. You will/ should only have a meshes folder, simply right click the overwrite folder>create mod>(give it a name) DD Output. Enable it in the load order (left pane).

x. However, if you are following this guide then, I recommend that you build all your armor and clothes too along with it, so that you have only one mesh folder at the end with all the necessary files. So, select every group including unassigned group (basically everything that has clothes and armor and DD) but make sure CB++, CBAdvanced, CBBE Bodies, CBBE Undies, CBBE Vanilla and CT77 Half HDT are not to be selected. And if you use have any group UNP then that should also be avoided and in step ix give the name Bodyslide ALL Output. Note: You will have to do this everytime you add/ remove clothing/armor mods. In case you plan to, then only select 'DD' items in group selection and follow the steps. And name the final output DD Output.

What I personally do, along with, I’m sure, some others, and have been (somewhat) successful with so far (fingers crossed) is using a kindergarten approach to load order and trying and "group" my mods. Meaning that similar mods are all going together.

#02: Bug-Fix type Mods;
#03: Game Structure and/or UI Mods:
#04: Character Appearance Mods (For NPCs and Self);

#07: Mods that Add and/or Change Locations;
#08: Mods that Add and/or Change Navmesh;
