Koko.Hekmatyar Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 @Kendo 2 That's why I often look to the past (90's-early 2000's) to see if I can find some quality anime that I missed out on. I don't mind a little harem in anime, but nowadays it's overkill. The last recent anime I've watched where I didn't roll my eyes at every arch-typical character was the where the guy knocks over the cat statue in a roadside shrine and gets cursed. I can't remember the name but it was as funny at the TuLuv series or Highschool DxD. Right now I'm holding my breath for Gangsta., waiting for the shit anime stock players and plots to show up. I HOPE I'm wrong. Nyan Koi Good show but sadly it is another anime that never got finished either because it wasn't popular enough or the LN/Manga it was adapted from didn't have enough content at the time to continue it.

Effie Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Danna ga Nani o Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken This an anime that should be recommended to all married couples and those in a relationship. This is just too funny of a slice-of-life kind of anime to not be enjoyed with your other half. Oh hell i love this anime so much, remember following it when first season came out. Wish my boyfriend would give anime a chance, there's so many animes i wanna watch with him haha >u< But this one is definitely so cute but soo hilarious at the same time.
Kendo 2 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I think some of the creators of anime/manga are intentionally obtuse when it comes to Western Religions. Either that or they're just ignorant of anything other than animistic Shinto. OR they have open contempt and aren't bothering to hide it. Whatever the case, they look like fucking fools when they cast Western religions in the role of villian. They might want to take a look at their own history and religious beliefs before they start pointing fingers.
Kpnut Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Ah but in the mind of the otaku who create most modern anime Japan's history is literally perfect and nothing went wrong in it. It's why all of it paints Oda Nobunaga as a fucking hero.

Oda Nobunaga was by no means a hero but he was a significant figure in Japanese History as he laid the ground work that allowed his sucessor Hideyoshi Toyatomi to unify Japan which ended the Waring states era.

The main character got cursed by God, for Pete's sake! I haven't seen it, but it sounds amusing. Especially the "cursed by God" part. If you're watching, make sure you're not watching it in the middle of the night. You'll probably wake up the dead with your laughing. The term of "universal butt monkey" fails to describe the main character's dilemma.
Chaos63 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Finished Haibane Renmei. A tad uneventful, but it makes up for it with the beautiful visuals and music. Makes me want to give Angel Beats another watch.
mkprovince Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Oh... Yeah.... Overlord ep 03 just blows the shit out of the two previous episodes. The scene where the Death Knight joyfully massacres the armored knights is just the icing on the whole deal. The bastard knight doesn't even get a break fainting on the ground. He gets the prize of getting his guts stabbed with a massive sword; multiple times until he dies on the spot!
Kendo 2 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 The only anime I watched that mentions Nobunaga was "Nobunaga the Fool": a mecha series that had characters with the names of historic figures. It was meh at best. Pretty sure there are better shows out there under the moniker, Nobunaga. Now this is actually more game-related, but I do remember seeing Nobunaga as the arch-nemesis while playing the Onimusha series for the PlayStation 2. I saw one anime where all of the Warring States Period figures were girls and some modern day high school boy was teleported back in time. mkprovince Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Try watching Nobunaga Concerto. The manga is still ongoing so the anime cut short at where Nobunaga torched the mountain. It's quite funny and yet refreshing enough than the rest though it still has something about a modern high school boy getting transported back in time except this time the boy got stuck as Nobunaga's double because the real Nobunaga ran away from home (also a case of mistaken identity as the two are practically identical). Then the real Nobunaga got stuck with his new identity... Akechi Mitsuhide... Yeah, it's both a fuck up so bad that the two just don't know how to fix. Still, Saburo (The guy that got thrown back in time) just takes everything without much worries.

Guest Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 when watching anime you would think in 2000 years the only historical period worth a damn is during the warring states period which oda nabunaga was part of. I remember watching one episode with the all the historical figures being women and a modern day boy being sent back in time... the episode was about the boy building a castle on the river bank, the 'castle' was pretty much just some wooden pikes and flags planted into the ground. You know when you think about it Japans history is a pale comparison compared to the Chinese, the West and the obviously the Middle-East. They were just a small island on the fringes of civilization.
Angrybird Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Dude, people drawing manga are Japanese of course they are going to worship their own culture.
Kendo 2 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Watched the first 3 of Overlord. I was hesitant at first (after SwordArt Online) but I'm glad I watched it. So far, it is much better than SAOL, imo.
Angrybird Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 The first season of Log Horizon has the same theme and is also enjoyable the 2nd not so much.
Effie Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I need to continue Ore Monogatari!! ._. I had put it off since episode 10, because i was busy with WoW, manga, LoL and skyrim >_<
Kendo 2 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Doe sanyone know the real story behind why Bikini Warriors is only 6 minutes per episode? Was is made as filler for another anime TV time slot or as part of something like Colors?

Honestly it make no sense to me either and just seems like a waste of money.

alphafr Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Would like to know are here person like me that have idea to make an anime (concept or even full story)?

There are some like Okusama go saito kaichou (My Wife is the Student council President) That I find to be very funny and would have benefited by a full episode intsead of the 8 minutes they made it as especially when about a minute of that is taken up by opening BS.
Kendo 2 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I agree. How can I look forward to a character who has less than 6 minutes of air time? They could do these shorts like Queen's Blade: Punish, and just assume we know the characters and go with it. I don't need a full blown series intro if all they are going to do is show panty shots, censored jigglies, and stilted dialogue.
mkprovince Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Gate 04.... Not sure what to say but Lei Lei sure loves to wear that full body suit as if she's stepping into high radioactive ground. However, the preview of ep 05 sure flares up my anticipation cause that's the part where the JDSF would turn the enemies into beehives with all the aerial gunships (that's if the anime would actually be able to how it in its full glory [with Wagner's The Ride of the Valkyries as BGM no less]). Also, Rory's Org.... Okay, maybe they'll not show that part... Just maybe...
