The modder for LF seems okay with crashing and burning breaking EULA for their mod because of this... ridiculous mess. Since when do modders dictate what people can and can't do in their games?

Following the recent event, I got a couple questions, pure curiosity:

- Is there a way for other modders to opt-out (entirely or partially) of rjw system ? If I don't want my rabbit white ball to be humped by an alpaca, or if I don't want my dragonian "unique" pawn to get raped.

- Why is RJW not on workshop ? Has it ever been ? I'm not aware of RJW's history ^^;

Beside that, it's a very funny mod, keep it up ! (and maybe please add more tweakability in mod options. Oh and some default button(s) to reset those settings ^^;;;;)

1. Modders? Well, yes, there's at least one idiot who turned their mod into malware that breaks the game if you have RJW installed alongside his mod.

Now, if you meant end-users all you have to do is to level up the pawn's Melee skill, give them traits that decrease vulnerability (example: Tough), augment them with bionics (i.e. Manipulation is most important) and don't get them downed.

2. Because murder, cannibalism and turning babies into hats, armchairs and animal beds is perfectly normal and moral thing to do, but rape isn't.

It seems a bit random, because the first matured egg caused the same problem, but it worked fine the next time and now the third time it's the same thing. The only thing I think was different is that in the first and last case megaspiders got rescued while "prostrating" and the second that worked fine happened at night when everybody was sleeping, but I may be projecting.

This has got to be some sort of... I don't know, not crime exactly, but something. I don't use the mod in question, but that really rubs me the wrong way and sets a bad precedent.

Actually if the Workshop ToS are anyhow sensible, the mod should be banned on the spot for something like this, even if the "conflicting" mod itself isn't permitted on the site.

There's no misunderstanding, I de-compiled LF and found the code that anesthetizes pawns trying to user RJW actions on LF critters.

If you want, I have a fix. Drop me a PM and I'll send you the link. I don't want the author to immediately counter my fix so I won't upload it publicly to LL

I excpected a more serious and sensible answer

I'm legit curious. Such a mechanism would be very nice for any modder wanting more control/granularity or not feeling confortable about RJW, not just for the recent moronic reaction of a single stupid modder.
Maybe a simple hidden hediff that would mark them to be ignored by RJW search mechanisms. I'm really not trying to play devil's advocate here...

About workshop, I assumed it was because of Steam EULA not allowing porn stuff. But with recent change in policies regarding adult games, and the context of RW being so extreme, I think RJW have it's place on workshop's shelves.

Why should a modder choose this for all their users ?

Let users decide if they want to use RJW or have people forgotten that mods are for personalization in the use end not the producer.

 

Steam allows porn on workshop but games owners or publishers control what the workshop allows for that game.

Also RJW is opt-in so if you don't want it's features just don;t use the mod and if you say well I don't want anyone to get these features with my race or mod you are just asking for back-lash.

I skimmed through LFs steam mod thread and there is some drama going on, I would advice everyone try not to blow this up and agrue heatedly in Lost Forest mod page, if you force this larger issue in mod community (ie. author pulls off his mod), it might just be that RJW's "Hunting down, imprisoning, and raping and breeding in cages 'em sweet little critter womyn, that's what life is all about!" might not win the public opinion versus LF's "Cute little animal girls doing cute things".

 

Being technically correct in the argument is only one part, you also need good standings so people can get behind your cause. If you are perceived as the other, opponent, or someone weak enough mob can easily gang up, you will lose regardless how much you cite EULA, or appeal to authority (Do you guys really want to get Tynan get in to this mess? He has already had hit pieces made for him because of Rimworlds vanilla mechanics.)

 

There might just be reason LL is in isolated corner in the internet, and this content is not thrown to faces of publishers, developers, media and random casual users. Best keep it that way.

 

Arguments also made here in these forums, are going to get "yeah, makes sense" while same thing said in steam forums is going to get "Wait, What!?".

 

I wouldn't necessarily count on full mod community support either if this is forced to spotlight, while many modders/mod users are likely going to be appaled how LF's author put booby traps inside his mod, some prudes might be sympathetics to his cause, and in case if some of those are modders making important core mods for all the other mods to function or just general mods RJW users like to use, and people are forced to pick a side, it might rather backfire if people side on LF's author methods..

 

Again, it's not just the message, but who is delivering it:

Anyway, my point, probably just better accept there will be always people who are going to shun this sort of content, don't take it personally and feel offended, make a patch if you see fit, if they are making content you enjoy, cherish it, patch it and don't hound them, you will get no positive results by going pick a fight on outside of LL, you won't convince them and your position is not that strong in the "outside world", there are several ways things could backfire when you leave your dungeon and go yell in midst of town square while wearing your gimp suit.

If I was a content creator, I would be glad to have the option to opt-out, either by default (modder's choice), or by allowing users to choose their species related kink more precisely. Cause I love to use RJW, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't want my humans to fack those disgusting white rabbit balls, while I love for them to go ham on alpacas, for example. XD

Back to workshop, Steam EULA are stricter than Ludeon's ones. I see no infringment from this mod in Ludeon's EULA... Having RJW on workshop would a nice and HUGE F you to poor peepee self centered boy over there... XD

I understand your sentiment that you'd like to opt out certain things from RJW but in my opinion it should be up to the end user.

But I don't really see an easy way to do it other than a new mod that harmony patches RJW to look for certain pawns and drop the interactions with them.

keep in mind that some moders who do not like RJW are even reporting LF now, O21 server seems to have some of this going on.

1)no, but its community mod, so if anyone have interest in writing such code they are free to try

Being technically correct in the argument is only one part, you also need good standings so people can get behind your cause. If you are perceived as the other, opponent, or someone weak enough mob can easily gang up, you will lose regardless how much you cite EULA, or appeal to authority (Do you guys really want to get Tynan get in to this mess? He has already had hit pieces made for him because of Rimworlds vanilla mechanics.)

 

There might just be reason LL is in isolated corner in the internet, and this content is not thrown to faces of publishers, developers, media and random casual users. Best keep it that way.

 

Arguments also made here in these forums, are going to get "yeah, makes sense" while same thing said in steam forums is going to get "Wait, What!?".

 

I wouldn't necessarily count on full mod community support either if this is forced to spotlight, while many modders/mod users are likely going to be appaled how LF's author put booby traps inside his mod, some prudes might be sympathetics to his cause, and in case if some of those are modders making important core mods for all the other mods to function or just general mods RJW users like to use, and people are forced to pick a side, it might rather backfire if people side on LF's author methods..

Anyway, my point, probably just better accept there will be always people who are going to shun this sort of content, don't take it personally and feel offended, make a patch if you see fit, if they are making content you enjoy, cherish it, patch it and don't hound them, you will get no positive results by going pick a fight on outside of LL, you won't convince them and your position is not that strong in the "outside world", there are several ways things could backfire when you leave your dungeon and go yell in midst of town square while wearing your gimp suit.

 

 

the issue is not in disabling rjw functionality, its in him being moron and:

- not telling that he disables his pawns with rjw

- no option to toggle that

- disabling it in a way that punishes everyone by downing pawns, since user dont have control over ai actions

- causing errors

 

he could just mark rjw incompatible, and make a harmony prepatch for rjw jobrdivers that would silently fail with LF pawn, but he choose to punish everyone

So many complaints about LF. I just simply stopped using it because A. The model sprites are nearly double the size of all other pawns making it comical to look at (not in a good way). B. The audacity to essentially put malware into a mod is a practice that should be abhorred, because it goes against the ethics and implicit trust most mod users have for modders to not completely bork their systems/games intentionally. Besides it's not like I truly am losing all that much content not having it.

It was about granularly turning on/off interactions (per pawn, for example) not just sex, rape or bestiality in the whole game.

And I got my answer, other modders CAN do exactly that if they want.
