Hey y'all,

I need your thoughts on something. How attached are you to the Drunken Huntsman? Do you ever go there? I'm asking because I'm seriously considering moving my shop in it's place.

Oh no! Please not! It messes with even more Whiterun mods😰

I really like the shop in its current place. I'm using JKs Whiterun Outkirts with patch for Laura's and it seems like the shop just belongs there, along Augustus' workshop and the inn next door. It forms one contiguous set of buildings with with all the amenities and makes otherwise barren area a hub of activity with the shop being one of the many services offered. It forms what is called "podgrodzie" (in English the equivalent is "outskirts" but that doesn't really convey the true significance of the area), which historically was an important part of any medieval city, often far larger than the main, gated area, which designers appatently forgotten had existed when designing all major cities in Skyrim.

It just wor... makes sense.

I also like the fact its outside of city gates. Since I'm using it to offload devices my PC gets trapped in during her misadventures, and a bunch of mods that add tolls, curfew hours and other things that make going inside city walls a hazard, it's current location is a blessing, and inside the shop is the only place where I'm certain nothing bad will happen. Its a safe space.

There is also a number of mods that change both exterior and interior of Drunken Huntsman in significant ways, JKs series being the most known but not the only one. There is Open Cities, there are follower mods that place them inside, certain quest mods take part in it. Jenassa is there and she has a bunch of both appearance and behaviour overhaul mods, Nazeem rents a room inside, vanilla NPCs visit it for a drink from time to time, etc.

I myself designate it as a place to relax after work for any followers I assign to Breeze Home using NFF, instead of Bannered Mare, which is far and is already crowded, and use it to sell weapons and armour to Elrindir when Adrianne at Warmaiden's runs out of money. This is where I buy bows and arrows for the mighty (stealth) huntsman, the list goes on.

You'd need a bunch of patches for everything and inevitably someone would complain that something is missing, misplaced, misaligned or doesn't work. I implore you to rethink if moving the shop is a good idea.

Just a silly idea: The Drunken Huntsman has two doors. Leave the back door for the tavern, and use the front entrance for Laura.

You'd only need to move his shop sign to the other entrance.

This would only work is one is not using any city overhaul mods. A lot of people do, because let's face it, you can't play Skyrim for 13 years straight and not get bored with a totally bland and unimaginative vanilla look for Whiterun, which makes it appear more like some sort of half-forgotten shithole in Siberia instead of centraly located city on a crossroads of major trading routes.

Good point. It's probably a really bad idea. But it would've been so cool. :(

If you're willing to risk incompatibility with city mods, there are a couple of locations which are less utilized than the Drunken Huntsman.

Uthgerd's house is never actually utilized unless you upgrade Uthgerd's AI using a mod.  Likewise, Olava's house is barely used, in fact there's a Live a Deviant life mod somewhere here on LL that completely breaks the door into Olava's house and I didn't notice it at all for the longest time.

Then there's also a spot across the way from Ysolda's house behind Belethor's store that might be able to be utilized.

Spoiler

On a side note:

While I never used this, at first I though being it there was on purpose for helping you with devices before getting into the city.

This is usefull if you have other mods instaled like... devious interests?

In which people will react to you being restrained.

But... as I said... never used this.

Most of them are old mods that I rarely use right now.

Porn Star Fashion places a chest with an apparel inside.

It also makes a decent player home with a place to sleep if you marry her and can't afford Breezehome.

Uthgerd herself is placed inside the house during Civil War's Battle for Whiterun quest.

Thieves Guild's radiant quests have her house as one of the possible locations.

Capital Whiterun puts a building in that location.

Either MME itself or one of its compatibility patches places the pumps in that location.

Alright the shops stays where it is. Curse y'all with your common sense. I would've been so cool. 😅

Not sentimentally attached, but the idea of messing with a city worldspace feels a bit shaky, compatibility-wise. Also sometimes followers mods put their followers there, because Sleeping Giant's Inn and the Bannered Mare are both grossly overpopulated by mod followers and quest-intro NPCs by this point.

Sorry - my mistake - I forgot to translate that

Zitat

No – MME does NOT place the pumps on this open space – but directly behind “Belethor’s” store

Make sure you're talking to the correct Xayah. The Xayah in the Blue Palace does not have the dialogue. The correct Xayah walks around outside, I usually see her near the market.

so wait theres 2 spawned at that point?  i just thought she was out in the market during the day and at the palace at night.  will try and see if it works

Edit:  goddamnit, was it really that?  Well it worked, feel stupid for getting confused

Finally finished the story content. Wanted to say i enjoyed it far more than most of the DD themed mods on this site. The story was... more difficult to get through. Emotionally. Which means you did a great job writing it, and i felt invested. Very well done. and here i thought i would just get a simple shop that sells  DD toys without needing to use a console all the time :D

I an stuck at the point during Taking Control where I am tasked to Free Jade in Sloane's basement. I have found the keys to all the cells except he one Katarina is lying in. Jade however does not appear to be in any of the cells or anywhere in the house. I vaguely recall from playing the quest a while ago that Jade should be in the cell opposite, which is empty.

Is this a bug where Jade isn't loading or is she hidden somewhere else?

Jade is in the cell opposite the cell with Katharina.

If the scene plays out correctly - then Laura is standing exactly between the two cells... while Sloane and "Waren" (who always makes me think of the Dark Emperor from "StarWars") are in the free area in front of the cell area.

Laura puts on the collar and "Waren" starts his flying show.

Now the player can go to Laura and sees Katharina in the cell there on the left and Jade naked and chained on the right.

The key to Jade's cell - which Laura asks me to look for - is in a small chest -> which is ON a barrel next to the cell entrance.

If Jade is not in the cell... then something has gone terribly wrong!

The options for the devices are in the script properties from the papyrus script attached to the inventory version of that device. There you can change stuff like BaseEscapeChance and LockpickEscapeChance. A warning though, only change the properties of your own custom devices or you'll accidentally mess with base DD items. If you create a custom device, don't forget to change the deviceInventory and deviceRendered properties to your custom device.

Oh - do you mean like this? The base device that you copy already has the script - then you set lockpicking, cut and escape chances to zero?

lauras catsuit dosent seem to fit her body after running bodyslide. is there a known fix or is this a common issue?

It's a common issue that alleged "issues" like this are in the malfunctioning setup of the enquirer. Don't you think that after six years, a well supported mod like this would have fixed it?

AFAIK Laura is using your default body, this mod is made for UUNP on LE. So if you're on SE, or using another body, or even some custom race, you might want to check there. What happens if you give some DD or DCL catsuit to any other NPC? Does that work?

I don't think I've seen anyone complain about this. Could be your Bodyslide settings - when you batch build, Bodyslide tries to target everything right, but if you have a lot of mods with really variant bodyslide support, it can get confused. I had that happen with some of the bimbos in Bimbos of Skyrim.

It might also be that when you batch build, you've set the wrong body type. When I install the CBBE mod, I usually target Curvy - so my Bodyslide default has to be Curvy.

since Im using 3ba on skyrim 1170, does that mean it wont be compatible, if she uses unp as base?
