I don't get it I  will point out in my personal experiences is this my sister, my GF play skyrim they showed me their characters which were men. They were wearing skimpy Conan outfits built like well the rock or Arnold with so much muscle wielding giant swords. I didn't feel they did anything wrong I was well ok cool. I play as a female character and I run around wearing bikinis or over powered boob garnish while swinging a viking hand axe and a roman scutum. In fact they were the ones who helped me make my character and even outfitted her. Many of the male characters on TERA are played by women's. it's like the topic that was on here asking if its normal for a boy to play with barbies and girls playing with GI-Joe there is no harm in it, what this article tells me is that this is overly sheltered poor person who doesn't understand that entertainment is just that, in RL running around in lingerie and swinging a giant axe (although kinky) is not acceptable. people like the things they do and everyone has some sort of fantasy. I am a guy and honestly I have to see my self in the mirror everyday, I am sorry but I dont like looking at man junk all day so i play as a female character because to me they are beautiful. I am not woman but bloody hell I am sure some feel as I do and would rather look at the opposite genders assets versus their own in a game. I am ranting but sometimes this kinds of stuff makes me wonder why they bother posting that article when the only harm being done is shaming the people who make these mods and the people who enjoy them. It seems not so different then fat shaming or any type of shaming to me. I agree that sexism is a horrid offense but there are many people in power who are doing just that and yet they spend their time attacking communities who are not committing discrimination of sex in any kind but are in their own way complimenting both genders saying they are beautiful. There are many mods that add plain janes, typical males, fat men/women, or spindly men with no muscles. this community and other promote in some ways that no matter how you look in game that they are all wonderful. (sigh) bullocks and rubbish is all that this seems to me.

It is a content that thrives on drama and uneducated nonsense. Anything can be turned and shown into a bad light, try me and I'll explain to you why the Jedi are bad people. The article and video exists because there is an audience for that kind of stuff, however that audience isn't part of this community or the modding community at large. It's a content trying to get a raise out of people, to play on their sense of morale and goodness but without delving too deep into the subject. I mean if they think sex mod are so bad, why aren't they actually doing something against forced prostitution in their home countries? Why are they trying to put a blame on a hobby rather than tackle the real societal problems that is inequality and abuse perpetrated by individuals in a position of power? Well, the answer is money. It's easier to gain money writing an article than doing any life changing work.

I see what you mean. I just hate this kinda of sodding garbage, it forces people to hate and shame those who have done nothing wrong at all. It's almost like book burning to me which is a crime against humanity to me. Targeting those that are not harming your way of life is wasteful, instead take that energy and fight the people who are committing discriminating crimes on gender. we are human whether man or woman we are pleasing to each other; men like the ladies, ladies like the men. The artists like on here or nexus show that by making these mods. yes we have slavery mods, sexual assault mods but I am sure in my opinion that many on here don't condone those things. I don't hate the modders that made these mods nor the people that use them. Games and movies are fantasy stories if this destroys their world then war games, fighting genres, in fact all games are then in the same boat and should be destroyed. by these standards we should all live in a 10x10 cubicle with no color, no identity, and no thought as creativity is also a crime, color is treason, speaking is sedition, and breathing is punishable by death.

 

Sorry I was venting stuff like this is irritating and I know that this carries no weight or value just wanted to get it off my shoulders. I hope next time this author of that article goes to McDonalds and his cheese burger falls on his/hers lap and the mayo gets all over their car and pants.

To be fair about the article: I think she might have a point, she just missed to make it. Can't remember the topic right now, but i remember a rant about Nexus here that was like "totally uncreative, they just throw out one skimpy follower after another". I don't say those don't need some effort and talent, but when i compare that to the new mods on LL... i like it better here.  But i also see that this is probably a rather personal view, i hardly ever play with any followers at all, in my whole time with Skyrim modding i've downloaded a total of 2 followers, few more if i count quest mods like sexslaves which have followers additionally. 

Which mods are made totally depends on authors and their time ofc and i can understand that a custom made follower is something people want to have in their game, but where i totally agree with her is that i can't understand why those mods get downloaded that often. I just don't think sexism is the answer. If for no other reason because i don't consider some pixels with a bad AI a women, i respect real women too much to make that comparison.

Not reading the article or watching the video, because I have more fun ways to waste my time on Christmas Eve. I'll just point out that a large number of the sexiest and most popular mods (at least for Bethesda games) are published by women. I'll also point out that, on Nexus anyway, there are multiple different ways to filter out that sort of mod if the sight of skin or extreme gore offends you. I'm going to attach a screenshot of the mod creation page at Nexus, so you can see all the ways an author can tag their files for easy filtering.

 

 

If they're seeing sexist mods, it's because they've chosen not to use the tools that easily filter them out.

 

Now, I'm going to make a confession. I'm what you'd probably call a SJW (though I'm more of a battlemage than warrior). I also use some of the most extreme slavery and rape mods you'll find here. And there is no contradiction to that. These mods are just interactive porn, catering to a fetish. Some of the most outspokenly feminist porn actresses specialize in the rape/bondage/slavery porn fetishes. Because it's a fetish. It's just sex.

 

And in the case of these mods, unlike porn, no one is actually involved except the player. It's pixels on a video screen. Nobody harmed. Nobody even involved. A video game character has her head torn off by an orc and then her corpse defiled by a whole gang of them, nobody is actually harmed or involved in that. There's not even the possibility an actor loses control of himself and forgets to obey the safe word. There's no producer screaming at the actress off-camera that she'll be hooking on the street if she doesn't get her shit straight on-camera.

 

I can get upset at people like Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer. What you do to the pixels moving across your computer screen is your own business and anybody getting upset about it is being fucking ridiculous.

The issue with the article is that it is based on a false premise, everything in a video game exists to entertain the player, everything in a video game is an object crafted with a particular purpose in mind, so you can't objectify them because you can't objectify something that's already a mere object. The issue with the video is that the guy fails to recognize the faulty premise and relies on whataboutism to make an argument, which is also quite retarded.
