KoolHndLuke Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 I have the feeling that most peoples response to this on LL will be a resounding YES. As far back as I can remember, if there was a rule to be broken then I thought about breaking it- and usually did. Have you ever said FUCK YOU to a boss? It feels pretty fuckin good doesnt it? Until you realize your out of work and have to find another job. Although most people see that one coming. Do you like to speed on the highway like its the Indie 500? I know I do. Been clocked at 120 on several occasions. Pay fine- done. Cheat in games? Check. get to the front of the line with an "emergency"? Check. Sleeping on the job or sex on the job or drinking on the job? Check, Check, and Check. I hate working for the man! My point being is that I have a real lack of respect for most rules or laws that I find to be silly or redundent. Ever got a ticket for your dog shitting on the sidewalk? Your in a hurry godammit!! Ever had your boss yell at you for something you didn't do? Your spouse? Your neighbor? Do you get revenge in some way? Doesn't any of these people realize who the fuck YOU ARE!!??? Anyway, if there is a funny story or instance where you "fought the law" and won(or lost), Share it. When I can remember something funny- I will share also. Also if you know of or find any silly rules or laws and would like to share- then by all means do so! Here are some funny traffic signs;
Molevalence Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Most of my life every time I dealt or had to deal with authority figures they ended up being corrupt or people who abused the shit out of their responsibilities. So I treat most authority with little to no respect.

darkconsole Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 i've been putting off paying a credit card by claiming the papers i need for the settlement never arrive for over a year now. #savage the first time it was true. but it keeps working...
GimmeBACON Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 In Oakland, they want the police to be governed by the community, the same community mind you, that's being terrorized by gangs, drugs, rapists, murderers, and other violent criminals. I see that and naturally see that criminal activity would increase. When somebody gets shot, people just turn a blind eye to it, and the police that we as a community task with keeping the peace, we attack at every step of the way. To many people hate authority, and are to short sited to see that the alternative is MUCH worse.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 My main issue with authority is that we're simply expected to respect them just because of "who they are." Now, I don't know about the rest of the world, but my experience has taught me that respect is something that is always earned, never given. I don't care who you are, much less who you THINK you are; I do not care about age, race, creed, social position, if you made the fucking thing, if somebody elected you to be GOD HIMSELF. People seem to take offense to the concept that you need to earn respect. Really, it's just a sign of the times where so many people don't want to have to earn anything at all; we've become a GIMME GIMME GIMME society, and the big thing is respect. Earn that respect and I'll give it to you. Demand it and I'll do everything in my power to ensure that my disdain is clearly shown to all the world.
NickNozownik Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 I just like doing whatever I want, so if I'll get the opportunity to drink or smoke at work then I'll do it. Nothing is going to burn down because I extinguished a cigarette on a fucking concrete floor. I'll do that in a public place too. If my current job sucks then I'll slack off all the time, and if my boss wants me to work for 12 hours or during weekend then he can go and fuck himself. I don't care about his stupid shitty company. I hate stupid rules, and people who made them are mostly greedy corrupted shitstains anyway. And I absolutely hate people who demand respect just because they're literally 10 years older than me. I'm not talking about people who are 50 or 60+, I'm talking about dipshits who are 37 and think they remember the Roman Empire. "I'm 37 and I'm a village elder you guys. Back in my day we were tribal". You can't even cross the street because there's red light for pedestrians. All cars are waiting, there's no risk of being ran over, but you can't walk for 5 fucking meters because there's a red light for peds. But I always ignore it anyway #thuglife
lordgdavid Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Yes. Everything basicly. The respect topic that came up is also a huge landmine of bullshit that I hate.
Chbaakal Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Some authority, maybe...those who are self-absorbed in their own sense of 'justice' or 'right'. But I have no problem with the laws made BECAUSE of stupid humans. It's due to these mental midgets that stupid laws are passed, like "Don't drive on the sidewalk!" or "Don't piss in the drinking fountain.". If there's a stupid law, chances are there's a dumbass human/group that it refers to. This was so apt; What the....?
legraf Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 There's a difference between disrespecting authority, and disrespecting your fellow human beings - and half the examples in the OP are of the latter, not the former. You're not "sticking it to the man" when you cheat, or cut in line, or leave your dog's crap behind. You're just being a jerk. As Chbaakal said, some of these rules only exist because some people have no basic decency or generosity towards others. This isn't a manners-question like choosing the right fork for your sald, this is a manners-question like letting the other person go first at least half the time.

FusRoDah Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 I Authority Giovinezza, Giovinezza, Primovera di bellezza~ That being said, I'm also pretty edgy and stubborn and enjoy challenging authority, though only if they pissed me off because I consider something unjust, I'm not gonna make a fuzz just for the heck of it. You know what's worse than getting a ticket for not cleaning up your dog's shit though?Getting dogshit on your fresh new boots because someone didn't clean it up.
Captain Cobra Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Not for the most part, except when I was in High school. Had some sort of washout head up the security for the school and he and his merry band would spend their days accosting kids over petty shit. Complaints from students and later, parents, fell on def ears (naturally.) Wasn't until a female student came forward about being groped by one of them before the school decided to kick em' out and replace them with a competent head for security and some actual police, but I had already graduated by then.
legraf Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 It is meant to be a fun topic. If you are a darling angel and do not do anything wrong then I suggest you read elsewhere! Right, sorry, I rushed with the negative and didn't get around to the agreement. I also misspelled "salad"... so... up yours, Merriam-Webster. I have a lot of problem with arbitrary authority, and oppose it when I can... and, luckily, I'm in a position to help make policy for a young organization, so I get to be the "personal freedom" gadfly for it. And for laws... I think any limitation on freedom should be explicitly justified - and time-limited. If a law or regulation is worthwhile, it'll be no problem to vote to renew it in, say, 30 years. If the will isn't there, then by default, any rules or restrictions should die. But I don't have a problem, in principle, with a group of people making rules for themselves. Some laws, and some limited authority to enforce them, is good. Hmm... so to fall back to disagreement - I oppose flouting rules arbitrarily just as much as I oppose imposing them that way. Oppose rules because they're unjust, for everyone. Ignoring them because you just don't like them... that's a convenient, self-serving position that's easy to fall into. And it's still fine, if nobody else suffers for your principles - like the shit-on-boots example of FusRoDah.
Jeanpass Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 No. I don't have problem with authority, because I live in a democracy When one lives in society, one respects the rules.Or else, we make politics to change these rules.

If you are a darling angel and do not do anything wrong then I suggest you read elsewhere! Imho there are some things are funnier than others, and at least from the title i didn't see it (only) funny. I'm definitly no angel and probably broke more rukes and laws than most, but for example, i think traffic rules are useful in most cases because 1. people can die if someone doesn't follow them and 2. often those who think they don't need to care about them aren't that good at estimating if they should follow those rules. For example, i live in germany and we don't have a general speed limit on the Autobahn (not sure if highway is the correct translation?), so when you're driving with 320 km/h (~200mp/h), you better hope that everbody on this street follows the rules. It's quite unlikely you'll survive in case somebody doesn't. On the other hand, i don't give a shit if i'm allowed to smoke cannabis or coke because it won't hurt anybody else. I doesn't like it anymore, but i think there's still a difference between following the rules and not wanting to do it. I don't care if you wear an expensive suit or a uniform in both ways, which means: i won't respect or fuck the police because it's police. I'll talk to a human and if s/he's reasonable, s/he'll get some respect. *edit: No. I don't have problem with authority, because I live in a democracy When one lives in society, one respects the rules. Or else, we make politics to change these rules. We could talk a lot about the definition of democracy and if we're living in one, no matter where, possibly with the exception of iceland. As far as i can tell, those guys really live democracy. And maybe switzerland, but as far as i know, that's it. For the next part, you see... many germans have a different opinion about living in a society means following the rules of this sociaty because of our history. Or at least if that should be considered something good. Hitler was elected as well, you know? So is Putin, Assad,... beeing elected doesn't make you democratic, or good, or smart. Hell, i was elected once in an online guild and my first announcement was that this was the last vote for anything. And even if you're sure to live in a democracy, is it really completly unimaginable to you that the majority of people would agree to do something that you consider condemnable? Or to go down a bit: a boss/professor/elder/richer who demands something that is stupid or somehow wrong? At least those count as authorities in some way in most societies. I could say: I don't have a problem with authority, but i don't think authority (in general) can be earned by a title, uniform or anything else than earning it from me personally. If somebody has a PhD in ocial science, i will give some credit to him on that topic, assuming that he has some clues about his field and science in general, although he might prove that assumption wrong. But i won't give him this credit when we talk about math or films or building cars, or when he demands my seat in a subway car.
bjornk Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 No. I don't have problem with authority, because I live in a democracy When one lives in society, one respects the rules. Or else, we make politics to change these rules. Mmm hmm... Like many other "democratic" countries, North Korea also has elections and politicians. Heck, it's even called "Democratic People's Republic of Korea"! I don't know if that's something you'd be interested in, but people are not allowed to have a ponytail there... I bet you'd try to do politics to change that, if you lived there... and then find yourself in one of those labor camps... Well, you have to respect the rules, and do what the authority tells you to do right, as you live in a society...
KoolHndLuke Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Well there is wiggle room with most rules- not to mention certain exeptions. It is usually just a matter of bending rules to better accommodate your needs(or wants). What you ask yourself is if the risk is worth the reward. And I mean this without shitting on others to do it- or at least those that do not deserve it. The fact is that if you got the money you can make your own rules pretty much! Our current leader proudly proclaimed that he has not paid taxes for the last decade - but he was still elected Prez. There is no black and white. There is only grey.
Lifty Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 https://youtu.be/c_Ot1OEfk9I?t=11sIndeed I have. It's because I hate people looking up or down to someone, I always seek to have a level playing field. I am also pretty unreliable over menial shit, but when something can't wait or is simply too important one can count on me. So I'm more like a problem-solver than someone working the same shit everyday, that's why I haven't been employed in the same place for more than half a year after school and carouseled around ever since I graduated.
pinky6225 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Surprised nobody else has done it yet https://youtu.be/XbebjUYItKw Greatly depends on whether its me questioning somone elses or someone else questioning mine
the_mess Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 I had problems with the authority in the past but I am ok with it I mean, I did bad things and I got caught, its part of the game. Its not something serious though. Once I broke the big front glass of the HQ of a (now non existent) cult following. Or when I high school I went in one of the dorm rooms and drew a huge hate symbol. I swear there was no one there but somehow someone saw me and ofc opened his mouth.. what a jerk.

I swear there was no one there but somehow someone saw me and ofc opened his mouth.. what a jerk. Not sure why I am thinking of two things , one is when I was in school and got beaten by an oar for raising the thermostat. Class clowns, you see, Trum-larvae, took great pleasure in tattling. The teacher beat me and then apologized later, he was just being politically correct. And a mod on a site somewhere, daring "SJW"s to protest. One guy helpfully started, but it came out disjointed and made little sense. No one cares about the little mod, but in someone's mind somewhere, it's really sticking it to whoever. The warden in the movie "shawshank redemption" is what most people think of. I think of talk show hostesses saying "Lewser!!" and kids calling out SJWs. You're all fascists, and stuff.
Veladarius Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 No, just idiots in positions of authority who misuse it or have no clue as to what they are doing.
