Started Loki's dialog as somewhat suggested(based on those previous lines).

About the characters at Eastmarch's Hot Spring...

 

-For Haru and Izumi, beyond journals, they probably won't get any more content. 

-Perhaps a little more detail for Jena, but otherwise the idea for her and Fenran is that their story is, in a sense, finished. 

 

Kanet is the exception to this. I've had the idea for a while that, some of her story has been somewhat, hidden, even if some details can be learned by reading Izumi's journal.

Kanet lied to Izumi. Not because she had some great secret to protect, but a great sorrow, instead. 

 

When she watched her childhood home, burn, it was knowing that the family she had started, was in that city. Searching the ashes for a week, yielded nothing but the feeling that she had lost her family. That she had been far too late to ever think of saving them. Lying to most, even if many around her then knew why, she left, running far away from the conflict. Only, it followed her. Her arrival in Skyrim long before 21, Last Seed 201 of the 4th Era, she was given a note by a Thalmor soldier when she entered into skyrim, a year after she began to wander. Waiting weeks to read it, she finds out that the one responsible for burning her home, was coming to Skyrim. It was almost an open challenge, for her to come and take her revenge. Only, it was more than that. 

 

He held someone dear to her, captive. Her daughter, who had survived the fire, and is now a prisoner. 

 

[Game details]

 

-Kanet will have introduction dialog, which does need to be gone through to get her as a follower, but nothing more than that. 

-Her quest dialog opens up when you have read Izumi's journal. 

-At one point in the dialog, she will give the player the letter she was given. The quest begins when the player speaks to her after reading it. 

 

-The Justiciar will have a Imperial style camp somewhere in the Reach, I'm thinking maybe close to Deep Folk Crossing. He would wear the Thalmor Robes, but most of his Mer would be disguised as Imperial Soldiers. 

 

-Her daughter, Iszara, will be kept in the Justiciar's tent, her hands tied, and wearing nothing but her bonds.

 

When arriving at the camp, either...

-The soldiers will attack the player and Kanet on sight. In this case, reaching the Justiciar's tent would quickly have him force the player in a conversation, which either ends with him agreeing to release Iszara(possibly with a high enough speechcraft skill), or the only way to free her is to kill him. However, if the player secures his release without bloodshed, Kanet is not going to let him out of that camp alive. Possibly in a scene similar to Serana/Vyrthur, she will hold him by the neck, deliver a line or two, drop him, and kill him. 

-If the player enters the Camp wearing the hooded Thalmor robes(Altmer or not), then they can get as far as the Justiciar's tent, before he similarly engages the player in dialog. It proceeds the same from there. Only with the changes that, now you have to fight your way out, instead of in. 

 

-When freed, Iszara will be grateful enough to travel with the player as a follower, and if not, she might either travel to the Hot Springs(Where she would likely be clothed the same as the others), or to Dark Water Crossing(Where she would wear the Alik'r clothing). 

 

-A change to a single line in Izumi's journal will soon be added to the document - to make this story still fit.

I wonder if Blaze is ever overwhelmed with all this. Well... I do see some comments regarding that from time to time. You should really consider having a non-comment pm section for this. Just a place to copy and paste , and keep an organized record with chapter labels. Better than having to scavenge for them here. But of course still post here to keep him updated on changes and to whom it may concern.

I know some things, even if they have a lot of work on on it, at least for my part, might not actually get into the mod. One thing I've been trying to do is add or improve content for existing characters, with less of adding new characters, unless relevant to existing ones. 

 

As for finding this content, that is what the blog(linked in signature), is for. Most things of relevance will be there, or linked on the various entries. Still have to take or update the screenshots for the current Followers/NPCs though. 

 

Posting about it here is for keeping the mod relevant(much as it can be), and with some things, seeing what is thought about new content. Even if it usually is just Blaze. ;)

Well, I am a bit overwhelmed, yes. Just in that last idea for Kanet alone, there's scenes, bound NPCs, NPCs starting a conversation with the player on their own using a blocking dialogue, scripted aggro or lack thereof depending on what the player is wearing... Most of that is stuff I don't really know how to do (yet).

 

But I can learn just like I did for the content that's actually in the mod so far, so it may happen at some point. Can't promise anything of all that's been suggested will actually happen, but AFAIK Kuroyami is fully aware of that and yet still wants to contribute with ideas, so everybody's happy with the arrangement, I'd say :smile:. And if anybody else wanted to share their ideas as well, I'd be happy to hear them.

 

And yes, having to "scavenge" for new content in the thread is a bit cumbersome, but that's why I brough that up some time ago and the blog was created, so I guess it's not that much of a problem anymore.

Mostly because, even in some form, I'd like to see the content finished. I'm enjoying the stories just as much as I'd hope others are. 

 

I have half a mind to grab the CK and start making some mods myself. Follower after follower of missed opportunity...

 

Also, about my Game of Thrones comment...RED BLOODY WEDDING - and I'm not even finished with the scene yet. And I just didn't like Mercer...this other one, though...

Okay, so, about the next update: it's close, but not quite there yet. There are some small details that have kept me from calling it a day and releasing what I have so far, and the fact that I've been busy playing ESO for a while hasn't helped either. But this is how things are:

  1. I still have to find a way to properly track events like reading Mizuno's journal or learning that it exists at all (right now the code assumes the PC learns about it when they interact with his knapsack) that doesn't break; so far I've been using quest stages but earlier stages overwrite later ones, so if you don't follow their stage order (open bag -> read journal -> allow Mizuno to check the PC out), things break.
  2. I have to add a dialogue option to tell Mizuno you convinced Deekus to give up the amulet without killing him or stealing it; right now it defaults to "stealing" as long as Deekus isn't dead, so you get that both if you steal it and persuade him. Given how the rest of the quest dialogs and content is more or less no-longer-WIP worthy, it stands out like a sore thumb.

Once that is sorted out, I'll pack it up and update it. Will also do some changes to the mod page, like changing the name to be more in line with my Lungaris release, i.e. "The Selachii - Shark Race (LITE). Not sure if I should keep the "SOS/UNP/CBBE" bit, though.

 

Other stuff that may be in the relase depending on for how long I postpone it and/or if I feel like working on it:

  • Placing the new separate Izma NPC in the camp she's supposed to be in, now that the old Moku is back. She doesn't have much content so far, so she would simply sandbox around the place and that's it. May make her a follower from the start as a placeholder, though obviously later versions would require her quest to be done first.
  • Adding some of the latest dialogue for Loki and the threesome option for Mizuno and Ko'Maru. Not so sure about this one, think I would rather wait and add most of the new dialog stuff in one sit whenever the CK dialog bug bits me again; but I can't rule out doing it for this update either.
  • Creating an optional patch to restore the beast feet (because they now use human feet by default). Should be easy to do, simply extract the feet meshes and body textures from the 3.17 archive and repack them. Unless I changed the data to use the vanilla feet mesh path, in which case a plugin edit would be required and I don't feel like doing that.

I'd say ETA on the update is sometime after Christmas; maybe still in December, maybe after New Years, I won't know for sure until I start working on that. But I don't want to put it off for much longer than that because it's been a while already and the mod does need the update.

Quick update: I gave up and used Global Variables for it, so #1 is solved; not as clean as I would like it to be, but gets the job done. As for #2, the new dialog option is in place and working, though obviously the text itself is WIP. As soon as I get some proper text done (either because Kuroyami writes it or I actually manage to come up with something good enough), I can call it a day with that.

 

As for the optionals: #1 may not happen because the CK crashes each and every time I try to load the area where the camp is, but I will try again later. On #2, I may add Loki's dialogues but as I said it's better left for the next update (which will happen whenever Nightro's new assets for the race are done and working ingame). And as for #3, I did point the feet to use vanilla paths, so I guess it's human feet only for now.

 

Oh, and one more thing: this is what I could come up with for the note that points you to Mizuno if you take the amulet before meeting him and getting the quest the proper way:

I saw that damned fish again, Mizuno, this time down in Pilgrim's Trench.

 

Not sure what he was doing in here, since he is supposed to be a wannabe mage or something. Don't think he was looking for treasure, but I don't want him there anyway.  Perhaps he was just hungry or was looking for another fish to bang or something. Stupid shark. But I'm pretty sure he did see me, unlike the other times I watched him from a distance. I know his camp is north of Winterhold, anyway, in case he tries to do anything.

 

He wasn't wearing anything except for an amulet, and he lost it when it  got stuck in some broken planks and the cord broke. Doesn't seem to be worth much, but I might as well try to get something out of it, since the Trench itself didn't have anything worth it.

Not so sure on the quality of the writing (could use a rewrite, perhaps), and yes, I made Deekus sound like a jerk so that you don't feel bad if you off him, lol. Also changed the inscription on the amulet to read "To Mizuno, love, Lana" so that it is even more obvious Deekus is not its rightful owner, but I'm open to other ideas on that.

I'm having an issue with this mod, the base shark race plugin works fine, no problems there, but for some reason the NPC/follower plugin causes my game to crash at the main menu. Any guess on what that could be. And i am using the most recent version of YA and have tried both versions of the NPC/follower plugin. Thank you

Do you have all the plugins(.esp and .esm) active for Yiffy Age? The Yiffy Age version of the NPC/Follower plugin requires at least BadDogSchlongCore.esm, YiffyAgeConsoslidated.esp, and YiffyAgeSchlongs.esp. It does not require any of Yiffy Age's patches for other mods. It also requires ALL of the DLC for Skyrim, i.e you need to have five base .esm files - Skyrim.esm, Update.esmDawnguard.esmHearthfires.esm, and Dragonborn.esm(In this order) in your list of plugins. 

 

As it suggests, the vanilla version of the NPC/Follower plugin(for this mod), is only for a vanilla setup, without Yiffy Age of Skyrim. I.e any vanilla race characters are going to look appropriate for the vanilla game, and not Yiffy Age.

Well, crashing before the main menu loads means at least one of the masters for your active plugins is missing, period. That's always been like that with Skyrim with no exceptions at all because that's the way the game engine works, so either you are indeed missing one of the masters or you have a crash that is actually not the "Missing master" one, in which case you would have to be more specific.

 

Use your mod manager to make sure you have all the required plugins (or try loading it into TES5 Edit and see if any warning about missing masters comes up) and come back if you do have all the required files but the crash still persists.

Here is my load order(don't judge), as far as i can tell there is no issue, but i'm rather new to this so there could be a blatant mistake. There are several merged files i personally made to keep under that 255 plugin limit and i have tested that there is no major issue with my current set up. So far there are no areas that hard crash my game or major conflicting issues. Minus when i activate Shark Race - Followers.

"Don't judge". Lol. Suuure, let me judge your deviant and heretic tastes while I play my own Skyrim and watch my anthropomorphic female snow leopard character wear a skimpy bikini set and proceed to have sex with another anthopomorphic male shark (Mizuno you lucky bastard, you alway get all of the action). I have all the right to judge here :joy:. Unless you said that not because of the content of the mods themselves but for the amount of plugins and the lack of order in them that's causing my (not actually real) OCD to crank up pretty badly, in which case... Gues I can't judge either, lol.

 

Anyway, jokes aside, you are right, the masters for the file are listed and marked as enabled with a "1". So I'm out of ideas on this one. Are you absolutely sure the Followers plugin is the cause of the CTD? Could you try disabling all other plugins except for the base requirements (SOS, Yiffy Age, RaceCompatibility and such) and seeing if it still crashes? Outside of the plugin being corrupted somehow or some weird conflict with any of your other mods, I really can't think of any reason for that specific plugin to cause such a crash.

I honestly have not tried that, it's worth a shot. I've just been dreading activating and reactivating all my plugins... again. sigh tis the life of a skyrim modder. Thank you for humoring me.

Well, most judgements made are likely to not be so much on content, but various things like using outdated mods(i.e not updated for USLEEP, DLC, etc), or there being better options that use less plugins to do basically the same thing(s). 

 

Such as, you may want to consider...

 

Improved Dragon Shouts - Thunderchild - Epic Shouts and Immersion - Improves on the vanilla shouts, adds many more shouts you can get using the vanilla words(i.e the Elven voice replacer you have will work fine with it). It also works with all the DLC.

 

UFO - Extensible Follower Framework - Similarly offers having more than just one follower, and lets you manage a follower's inventory more than just the vanilla game. The only cavat is that while it does work with DLC followers, it does NOT work with Serana. There are also a few mods that require(or is optional but can make use of) the included UIExtensions mod, and having this means you don't need a separate mod for it. 

 

Interesting NPCs - The only thing to consider here is that the Alternative Locations plugin isn't really needed if using Alternate Start - Live Another Life. There will be certain starts(i.e the Warlock's Thrall start), where you can get one of the INPCs right away(this being without the Alternative Locations plugin), but if that isn't really a problem for you...

 

Immersive Wenches(and any mods like it) - Most likely, all the NPCs added by these mods are using vanilla facegen(defining how an NPC looks), which is meant for the vanilla assets. Not sure if this would work properly with Yiffy Age. Personally found that mod annoying - having the added enemies outleveling everything else in a dungeon, having Vampires who were not setup as Vampires, etc. 

 

SexLab Werewolves - While not a bad thing to use this, it is true that with other mods being used, like SOS, and Yiffy Age, there could be some problems(just visual ones, most likely) with Werewolves. SOS addons mostly might have Werewolf support, and the ones added by Yiffy Age certainly do. 

 

More Nasty Critters  - Looks like you either want to switch to the version of the mod by MMG - More Nasty Critters - SLAL Edition, or update it if you are already using that one. The Mod Compatibility Kit(a separate download), includes patches for a few other mods, including Bad Dog's Immersive Creatures addon - this is partly due to the newest version of MNC:SLAL merging the SexlabNudeCreatures*DLC*.esp files into the main MNC plugin. Since some mods(like BDIC), will require those, the patched versions in the Kit will make them require just the MNC plugin instead. 

 

Skyrim Player Revoiced - No problems with this one, though I'm not sure if you use Mod Organizer, but if you do, you would not need to use the plugin for this mod. So long as the .bsa is checked in the Organizer's Archive tab, and MO is set to manage archives(a checked box in the same tab), MO would load the .bsa for any profile the mod is active on. Actually use the mod myself for male Elven characters. 

 

Cloaks of Skyrim/Winter is Coming - Neither of these are a problem, but I use Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade, which includes the items from those mods, and so long as the meshes/textures are loaded, the plugins do not need to be with CCOR. You can also choose if you want them to spawn on NPCs, or if you just want them to be craftable, in CCOR's MCM menu. Otherwise, the only difference will be that you won't get the placed cloaks from Cloaks of Skyrim, i.e the ones you find in various locations across the game.

Welp, after deactivating everything except the bare minimum I found out that the plugin still didn't work. However, when i uninstalled it and then reinstalled it i decided to override everything when prompted to and boom now it works fine.

I guess the file did indeed get corrupted while installing or something like that. Huh. Anyway, glad you got it sorted out.

 

You should read Kuroyami's post about yout mods and potential alternatives, though; there are some important points in there.

Alright, screw it. I'm going to try to get the update posted soon. Have to do some last-minute testing and pack everything up, and I'll upload it. Figuring out what has changed from the previous version outside of the most noticeable stuff (the shuffle with the Hoodies system, the removal of beast feet, and the additions to the Follower plugin) is probably going to be hell, so chances are I'll just list it as "several unlisted changes and edits", but oh, well.

 

I'll see if I can get it posted today or tomorrow, but if it isn't done by then, it will have to wait until after New Years. Also no promises, but I may update the Vanilla/No YA version of the plugin as well; if it does happen, it will be a bit later than the main mod update, though.

 

No new content has been added apart from what I've already mentioned, so any more dialogues (like Loki's) or edits or other stuff will have to wait until the next update aka 3.19/3.20 (not sure on the number yet), which should drop after the new assets are done.

Okay, here goes nothing! Next version is up. Check it out and do let me know if you come across any bugs or oddities.

 

Do also note that due to the changes to the Hoodies system and the quests, it would be better to start a new game from scratch with this update. Updating on an existing game is not supported and could cause bugs or issues and break your save altogether. Feel free to post about your experience with upgrading if you want to try, but don't be suprised if everything breaks.

 

Stuff that I'm particulary interested in being tested: the SL hooks (both with SL installed to see if they work and without it to see if they are skipped and/or there are errors in the Papyrus log); Mizuno's quest; the new SOS setup (including the new addon options and the separate Sheath layout).

Downloaded and installed the new version. Will be testing some things out as suggested. 

 

Otherwise, like so many other things, I have had this idea for a while. Which, is that I know there are starts in Live Another Life(and mods that add starts using it's framework), and Skyrim Unbound that work for Selachii. But occasionally, I see them as some what lacking. If only because to truly go for some ideas, you have to ignore some fairly poignant details - like the existing quest entry for a start, or the equipment you start with. Occasionally you can tone down the break of immersion and just go for it, but that is not always possible. 

 

So the idea is basically this - an optional plugin, requiring AS-LAL and this mod(along with all of it's requirements by obvious extension), which would add either variations of the starts offered by the base mod, or new ideas, all requiring playing a Selachii, similar to the base mod's racial starts. As with other things, I know this may not happen, and even if it does, it may take a while. 

 

I have two ideas at this point. May not do more unless there is interest in the idea. 

 

Arrive By Ship - Selachii Sailor Variant

One of many chosen to sail the seas of Nirn to a province of Tamriel's Empire facing a Civil War, I gladly agreed to the journey. If only to sail under the command of Akario – a legend among my people. Like some others, he has given me leave to explore Skyrim as I see fit.

Location: Solitude Docks
Equipment: Blades Armor(Inc. Shield), Blades Katana, 1000 Gold 
Details: May tie into the content surrounding Akario – choosing this start would mean that you came to Solitude with him. This would of course, change how he reacts to you, since ideally he has known you for quite some time. This would even change some of Mizuno's content – I.e you would be able to tell him not just that you met Akario in Solitude, but you sailed from Same-Shuto to Skyrim on the same ship.

A detail about this one relates to Akario as well, which is that if the Blades Armor is used for him, either the meshes from the SOS - Revealing Armors mod, or just the base mesh(and leaving if a user wants it revealing or not by if they use that mod), so the base Blades armor meshes are used no matter which, then perhaps some recolored textures could be done - possibly just the diffuse/color texture, and using the vanilla normal map - so just a few new Texture Sets. At most, I'm thinking of White, Silver, Red, and Black being options. But more to the point, if this is done, then the player would spawn wearing one of these variations with this start.

 

Additionally, I have already suggested in mention of Akario, mostly in the Blog's entry for Planned Characters, a detail which I am somewhat unsure of. The story of it is fine, but the implementation of it in game may be, taxing. As it goes, the somewhat recent encounter the Selachii had with the Thalmor(likely within the last five years), was that they came to Same-Shuto under the guise of diplomacy, though it was more about trying to strong-arm the race into complying with the White-Gold Concordat. The result of this was the Justiciar acting as diplomat making a threat towards the Selachii which they did not take kindly to. For this, the Justiciar was executed on the spot, and his body was taken back to one of the two ships sent from Alinor, intended to head back to give a message to the Thalmor. But only one ship left, while the other was claimed by the Selachii. That same ship was then later used by Akario to sail for Skyrim, which would be a message some took the wrong way, even if it was draped in colors the Thalmor are not known for. Still, the confusion was quickly allayed, and it was proven that Akario and his ship full of Sailors were no threat to the people of Skyrim, or Haafingar.

 

As to putting even a small portion of that in-game, even without considering the knowledge of what it would take to do so, the problem is resources. I'm not sure if a Altmer Ship mesh asset is available, or will ever be. If one was though, it would likely be asking a lot to add it, as depending on what would be needed for it, and what exists - i.e exterior mesh, interior mesh and layout, navmeshing both the exterior and interior, the exterior meshes placement in the game world knowing it might conflict with mods that change the Solitude docks, etc

 

Pirate

I can count myself as lucky. If only for the fact that I have a history that is, varied. From a Sailor among my race, to one of them who lost faith in the profession, and took the opposite – as a Pirate. Serving on several ships, under several captains, and the most recent could be considered the worst. For the most treasures we plunder, are from merchant ships, like the East Empire Trading Company. They can call me a deserter, but I have considered leaving for a while. Maybe it is time to do so.

Location: Dainty Sload
Equipment: Ragged Trousers, Scimitar, 200 Gold
Details: Similar to some other LAL starts, the player would be in a faction that means the Corsairs aboard the ship won't outright attack them.

In a similar vein to the above, this start could involve using any Selachii Pirate clothes that would be created as well. I could also imagine a similar variant of this, which starts you out as one of the Sailors who is a part of Kaiyo's crew, likely someone who joined far more recently than most - so your character would not know his entire history right way(or it would not be suggested that you do).

Custom starts can be added to ASLAL just fine as far as I know (Content Consumer did it already), so it's something I could certainly look into. As with pretty much anything else, I can't guarantee it will happen, and if it does it will be a while from now, but yes, I would be open to that :smile:.

The start itself makes sense, but wouldn't having the full Blades set from the start be a bit OP? I mean, you don't get it until you enter Skyhaven Temple, and by then you are not exactly level 1 or 2. But then again, the Orc race specifc start gives you a full set of Orcish armor and a weapon, so...

I contacted Aoki a while back about using meshes from the Revealing Armors mod (mainly the ragged trousers as mentioned before), but he said most of the meshes in the mod were made by Vector Plexus, and that's whose permission I would have to obtain. Do I need to mention how... strict VP is about permissions? I know this is for SOS and so far he's only gone full-on control freak on SAM, but I get the feeling I won't get that permission either. So better forget about packing Revealing Armor meshes with the mod unless they are not done by VP (like for example BadDog's).

 

Texture sets are feasible, yes. And as long as whatever Blades armor replacer you have installed uses the vanilla textures and has the meshes set up in the proper order in the nif, the Texture Sets should also apply to those. In fact, I just checked the Revealing Armors meshes and they should be able to pick up any Texture Set that works on the vanilla armor already. Only problem would be that if you use Revealing Armors you would need to manually tag the armor records from this mod as "Revealing", but that's just one click in SOS' MCM menu, so it's easy.

Don't think there is any such thing. There are ship resources that look more like the traditional image of "ship" (like a galleon or something like that) instead of Skyrim's Viking Longships, and I think there are even a lore-friendly resources for Nord and Breton ships; but nothing that is explicitly Altmer or Thalmor in design. I guesss they would look more or less like the Prowler does in ESO, but since it isn't actually a Dominion Military ship but rather a privateer/mercenary vessel, it may not even be accurate.

 

So... maybe? I dunno, if/when this actually happens we could go for a vanilla ship and that's it, or see which custom resources are available and choose whichever fits best.

This one should be feasible as well. I would perhaps have to edit the Corsairs and give them that hypothetical faction that would then be given to the player if they choose this specific start, but are there any mods that edit them already and could conflict? Because I don't know of any. Only downside I can see is that the Thieves Guild quest involving the ship would be very easy if the crew of the boat is friendly. But I guess the same happens with the Bandit start and any radiant quest that sends you to the bandit camp you started in, so there's that.

How do you feel about a new mouth mesh when I get to the full body work? I'm almost done with the upper half of my body btw.  I could elongate my current one, further edit it with matching verts to the Citrus head, then flatten it over the high poly surface area. Not sure of the weighting work, but would imagine less then a dozen tri files. Unless your gonna want to take on the new UE4 head mesh for it? Chances are, I wouldn't touch that head further, maybe until after I learn animations.

 

Also, there was a pic of this deer race type thing I'm interested in doing, just can't find it anymore. It had a bigger nose and a different horn design.
