But my sister hoarded them all. When my mom died we printed 5 different pictures then everybody got to choose one. But I went to my dads and since he had everything digital I just copied his whole drive of pictures. But there is another person in my life that I don't have pictures of and I get it, for sure. 4
landess Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 Watching an old episode of COSMOS, I was struck with the realization that Hugo Weaving was channeling Carl Sagan as the Smith character in The Matrix. 1
Reginald_001 Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 (edited) People compare generative AI to the introduction of synthesizers in the 90's and 00's. The difference is, back then non musicians could hear the difference between a real drumkit and a real guitar or their 'synth' versions. These days with AI generated music, most people (at least 60%) do not. And the coming years the distinction between what's generated by a real person and what's generated by AI will further dissolve. I embraced synthetic music because of its difference and have always searched for sounds we are unable to created on 'real' instruments. (The one function that AI cannot really provide us). I've studied music for 4 years at University. Had to perform a pretty hard Jazz piece in front of 8 teachers, then record a live band (producer) to get my papers as 'pro' jazz guitarist and music producer (e.g. record bands in a professional studio). Last night an old friend from Uni called and was pretty sad about AI and how it's replacing real music in the storeplaces. I told him that music was always 'never' about the storeplace, but about real life people on stage and the connection with the public. The notes and bass searing through their tummies, or sometimes better yet the intricate emotional undertones of an acoustic setting. Real live music will always win and is always better than AI music. I really thought this was a positive outlook, until I realized that in 10..15 years.. they'll have robots play the live instruments too. For now I'll listen to live music instead: Edited December 18, 2025 by Reginald_001

This remind me of Animusic, to bad it would be ridiculously expensive in real life.

Reginald_001 Posted December 21, 2025 Posted December 21, 2025 I wish people would make it a HARD POINT to NOT BUY anything they see on ANY COMMERCIAL. So that companies learn > If you advertise you don't sell anything. We could change the advertisement behavior online in a few weeks, if only the public wouldn't be such sheep for a few dollar discount, and learn to think for themselves about what products they need to sustain a fulfilled and happy life. You don't need anything that anyone advertises for. And I don't mean trailers for games, or movies. I mean dishwasher commercials, loud AI generated crap you see on youtube every 5 seconds, unskippable ads for crap product that apparently.. people are fucking buying. They wouldn't be advertising that SHIT if people wouldn't be buying that SHIT. Oh wait.. maybe this belonged in the rant thread. 4

Anyway even people in the FBI, NSA And CIA use adblock for national security reasons. On that note scummy people also get money from selling user data to anyone that can pay. If you have EVER had a lab blood test(and who has not?), they NEVER destroy the leftovers, but always sell them to the highest bidder, usually the Chinese government labs who have a DNA profile of more than 50% of the world's humans. So, if Chairman X or billionaire G, has a rare genome and needs a liver, occasionally someone disappears. Fiction? Just think about it.
Darkpig Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I was looking through the comments of a youtube video and well: Original: Homossexuals Google Translate: Homosexuals Thank you Google Translate. I never realized gay was a language. 1
Count Chocula Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Would sporting events in which all participants are Vulcans need officiating? At first I though "No." Then it occurred to me that in field sports like soccer, hockey, etc., the players would not be able to see everything to be able to make the calls. And in timed race sports, the participants wouldn't be able to time the races. In judged sports I would imagine that after all the participants did their thing, the participants would all collaborate to reliably and fairly judge, but since it would be opinion-based, there might be ties. So in judged sports officials would be necessary to break ties.
Darkpig Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I keep hearing about Pocketpair vs Nintendo and I was thinking maybe I should take a stand for one over the other. Normally I'd say fuck them both. Fuck Nintendo for being a corporate douche and fuck Pocketpair for never finishing any of their games. And you know what? I still say fuck Pocketpair but if Nintendo wins this lawsuit any and all games with summoned monsters from balls will belong to Nintendo so especially fuck Nintendo. Anyway this isn't in the rant thread because my heart isn't in it.

porkybork Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I was having a lot of fun with Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Then I found out how much grinding it would take to get through the endgame content and build a really good team with my favorite characters, now I don't want to play it anymore lol.
landess Posted January 25 Posted January 25 How many inches did YOU get today? Mother Nature is loving me as I take several cold hard inches. This was the first winter in 40 years where we had Snow on December 1st and although the temperature has fluctuated wildly with close to 60 degrees in the first week on January I have to say right now it feels like 1977. (When the Ohio river froze over and someone actually drove a Volkswagon Beetle across it in the Cincinnati area). "What Global Warming? So many Snowflakes"
Reginald_001 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 2026 sucks so far. First three weeks on bed due to heavy covid infection. Came out of it with a minor scoliosis in my back due to lying so much during covid, so now I'm in pain 24rhs a day. Decided that once all this is done and I'm gonna find a way to treat myself with something nice by dipping into my savings a bit. Not sure what, but life is short and the suffering is great, might as well get as much enjoyment as I can now instead of later. 5
porkybork Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I'm clean shaven for the first time in around 6 months. I kinda just stared at myself in the mirror after I was done because I legit forgot what I looked like without a mustache and soul patch. I also discovered that my clean-shaven face coupled with my long hair makes me look like a teenage heavy smoker.
