Raven 54 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 (edited) Soooo....I just bought my first cell phone today, at 69+ years of age, hope I can figure it out. But that's not what's on my mind...the Woman who was running the place (unnamed cell store) was nice but I got to hear all about her and how old she was, yadda, yadda, yadda...and then she asked me to spell my name. I have a fairly common, easy to spell name mind you, but she said she wanted to make sure she "Spelt" it right. So I laughed and said S P E L T spelling the word she just spoke, she laughed and said yes, grinning. I thought she may have just been joking around but a minute later she said the same thing again on my security question that she wanted it "Spelt" right. I let that one slide while I looked at some paperwork...then for the third time she said it yet again to which I replied S P E L T spelling out what she had spoken to which she just nodded. She was thirty five years old, when her Daughter came in the store she relayed a story about how young folks do know lot's of things for instance what a Rolodex was and went on to tell her daughter what that was while trying to impress me, saying she was at the age of not only having knowledge of the new tech but also having knowledge of the old stuff that was around before she was born...must not have been any Grammar or Spelling texts available for her to study or maybe she just "Spelt" it wrong on her Search Engine. I am Truly concerned for the World that we have allowed these people to slip through the Education System and have turned them on Society at Large, I would not have Graduated High School with those skills she was displaying. Sad, very very Sad. At first I wanted to laugh but the more thought I gave it...Well it's just Sad. If asking someone if it is Spelled right is proper English. Edited June 11, 2024 by Raven 54

---nikoli Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Freaked out a bunch of the 20-something peons that work under me because I rewrote a memo that my boss gave me to give to them in cursive, I'm only 38. 11 out 15 of them literally couldn't read what I wrote, and I have a very legible handwriting. Now I'm depressed that these are the type of people that are supposed to take over running things once I retire. 3

Guest Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 > The European soccer championship starts this Saturday. Our house will be full whenever Italians and Croats play. That means the three of us will spend the time on our beach or in a shack having sex. That would be compensation for occupying our house. Which isn't bad thing at all.

I have a bad feeling about this European Championship, because unfortunately there has to be the first yellow card before it starts on FRIDAY ... 😁 Yes, you have been shamefully caught out trying to cause confusion here and outdo my usual CHAOS! But as both Scottish fans are used to grief Spoiler and German players will not be shaken by anything, Spoiler it is of course a futile attempt! 😇

Reginald_001 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 (edited) A child's rhyme stuck in my head. It said that life is but a dream. I've spent so many years in question. To find I've known this all along.. and now fucking mathematicians are realizing through math that consciousness is incalculable and perhaps even a fundamental force of nature. E.g. brains aren't forming consciousness, no, brains are formed because of consciousness? Now I feel bad for not having studied math, physics and neuroscience. Or rather said, bad for studying clinical psychology instead of those subjects. Edited June 14, 2024 by Reginald_001 1
Guest Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 > Germany won the match against Scotland, 4:1. I am glad for my Prince and my German friends.
