Free meat!

Wait, you're not vege-gan are you?

Deer survived and ran off. Me...vegan???? AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA not in a million lifetimes. The main problem here is the level of damage to the car. Only liability insurance as it is an '07 with 219,000 miles on it. Worst part is this car was used as a rather substantial portion of our household income (Doordash). I'm the only one with a "normal" 9 to 5 type job.

That is pretty much just people in general. My country included. It starts snowing. People start driving then boom! Fender bender.

But we only get the inch or two - it's not like it is a sign that 15ft is imminent.

Oof. That doesn't sound optimal, Is it at least functional still or busted busted? Past tense hints at the latter, that'd be a bitch and a half...

MGTOW Men going their own way

Funny, I had a discussion with a young man just last night about exactly this i.e. the reason dating is all screwed up today.  He grew up with the internet, but I distinctly remember a time when your best bet was, literally, 'the girl next door'.  Had a blast explaining that to him.  He hit the nail on the head after my in depth explanation: "Biology is biology, and no amount of technology is going to change that."  Certainly not over night, anyway.

In short: The internet has "connected us" with the world, while we have become disconnected with our communities.  Too many choices!

It runs and drives I think. It was driven home last night after the accident, but that was only about 2 miles. It was driven to and from a convenience store today for smokes and beer. Not sure if it safe for 60+ miles a day for Doordash. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

It does not take long for people to forget what snow looks like.

Hope it holds, I'd argue cars are hardier than they seem but they're not as resilient as they were some five or so decades ago.

If I didn't get the calculus wrong anyway...

Snows gone and it's back to raining today. Coming up next - speculation over whether it will it be a white Christmas.

I'm more interested on whether they'll defrost Mariah Carey this Christmas season (Spoiler)(Not-Spoiler) they did.

Indigenous Mexicans migrated to California 5,200 years ago, likely bringing their languages with them, ancient DNA reveals

The couldn't really leave the language behind, could they? Not that DNA can tell you anything about language.

And let's not forget:

Archaeologists discover mummies of children that may be at least 1,000 years old – and their skulls still had hair on them

1,000 year old children! And their mummies still had hair - I'll bet it was grey. No mention of the daddies - I'll bet they were bald. ?

I happen to work as a radiator repair tech in a shop that has a lift. I put it up on the lift today at lunch and mechanically the car is fine, other than the hood latch. Hopefully I'll get that sorted some day this week. I've been working on cars my whole life and I have two ASE certified mechanics to get knowledge from if need be. One of them also happens to be a hell of a fabricator.

Ouch.  glad you are ok and no one is injured.

It looks like your hood mounts will be ok though so that is good and the side quarter panel can mount sort of easy, but the head lamp has to come out to install the quarter panel (correctly, though I am guessing the fender liner is toast so you can bend it out without concern).   As for the front  bumper....hmm  only the bumper cover damaged or is there more I don't see?

Do you use https://www.carparts.com/?   I have had good luck with them in the past.

The quarter panel has been like that for three years. LOL. It took no further damage. It is all hood, grill and bumper cover. I'm literally going to use self tapers and zip ties to put the cover back on. It's an old car with a lot of miles. Not worth putting too much money into.

EDIT: I work at a shop that can get parts at dealer cost. A whole new bumper cover is right around 50 bucks. A new grill is 17. If I do decide to put new parts on it it will cost next to nothing. We didn't check on a hood though. Oh yeah, a new fender skin priced out at 37 dollars. The big problem is that because it is an '07 everything is "call for availability".

You know.... Eva, I thought about all the stuff you say happens in your life and came to the conclusion that you're making at least half of it up! :D

Meh... don't take it too harshly. It wasn't intended to insult. You know I poke fun at everyone I consider a friend. I almost literally just returned into sensor range from the dark side of the fucking moon. The last two months have been... chaotic, to say the least. But I am hanging in there.

Don't be. I've discovered a lot about myself and life. I've had possibly life altering revelations through my small miseries. I appreciate your grace in still acknowledging me. :relieved:

Well hell, I should go through you then to get parts.  I was pricing the bumper cover at about 137 (cheap needs paint) to 170 painted.     We only have one local "junk" yard (they are called something else now) but that is over an hour away.   Anyway, on a related note, I thought the game "Car Mechanic Simulator" would be boring, but......it is kinda fun to pretend I have a full shop to do everything and anything I want to do......at least in my cyberspace garage.  However, I would NOT recommend it as a teaching game.   They make getting bolts out waaaaaaaay too easy (I have never had to go get a heat gun to heat up a bolt to break it loose).

Really? What part of Disney World do you inhabit? :classic_tongue:

Explanation- I've had to heat rusted bolts in the block to get them out. No other way.
