yeah, the only two settings i ever check are the guards and the bandits, i turn it off for all others.  I think it's affecting them because even though they aren't technically guards they have some sort of connection with the guard dialogue/faction. i know the companions are the same way, i've got spectator crowds in which has the morality guard option and basically is supposed to make guardsmen tell you to knock it off/arrest you if you're having sex in public and it affects the same people .

Ah, not much I can do about it unfortunately :(

Yeah, certain npcs are hooked into the guard faction for whatever reason. Sinmir in Whiterun is the same way.

and the FoxFaction too...I mean WTF? :P

I noticed that the no follower comments option may not be working. I use Inigo, and he still slips a rude comment every now and then despite having followers dialogue turned off.

It is possible Inigo is a member of multiple factions which could cause strange things to happen...I can't check as he's a user created addon so who knows what factions he may or may not belong. :)

New version for the Devious Devices Combined version.

Added the 1st set of Unhelpful follower comments. These mainly trigger in dungeons and when your follower thinks they can get away with it. depending on what you're wearing (or lack of) your follower my decide to do a number of things.

They might decide you're in no position to stop them taking some extra coin or they might help themselves to you. They might also be helpful enough to remove an devious item in the process, but not often.

Housecarls will never steal and are more likely to help by removing something even if they give in to their carnal desires.

The more serious your predicament, the more they might steal etc :)

#EDIT#

I should probably also state that the events are still limited to the 1 comment per hour and because there are so many non-event comments they probably won't crop up very often.

If you want events to occur more often then you should disable all other follower comments and just leave either helpful or unhelpful (or both) comments active. This will reduce the pool of likely comments to just skyrim vanilla and the new event comments so they should occur more often.

Is it safe to just replace old versions when updating?

Yes, it should be perfectly safe. It's pretty light on scripts (in fact the vanilla version has none). I do it all the time while I'm testing. :)

This is a great idea, I am looking forward to trying it.

Let me know what you think :)

Still planning on events where guards make good on their threats?

Pretty much next thing on my list :)

Been trying this mod a bit now. It's a cool idea but the comments trigger to often, leading to a salvo of subtitles replacing each other within seconds. It would be better if it triggered every now and then with some time between, at least 5 mins, because it doesn't feel immersive being peppered with sexist comments every time you get near an npc or guard.

The follower comments all use Skyrim's in built timer which is 1 comment per 1 in-game hour.

All other comments are event based. If you're getting multiple HELLO comments that's because there must be more than one person saying HELLO?

That's just what I mean. If you pass a group of people, everyone doesn't have to comment, because then the comments will come so fast that you won't be able to read one before the next one comes. If you can put a restriction on it, it would work better.

You might be better off using a mod that does more to overhaul the radiant dialog in the game than asking for sweeping changes out of this one. Immersive Citizens is a good one.

Hi Mixed Up Jim,

Looking forward to the events module. Will you be placing in the ability to toggle comment events on and off? (I know first thing I'd do would be to turn helpful follower events off. And being able to toggle all events would be very helpful for mod compatibility - lots of potential conflicts otherwise).

Also, with regards to the events, are you thinking of placing them just with guards, or with other townsfolk as well? Going by the tone of the comments you've chosen, the beggars are just as crude as the guards!

Really like what you've done here. Heaps thanks for your work.

So Im playing a male character but people are still using sexist comments on me as if I was a female character. I also have toggled off all the boxes in the mcm menu to try and disable it but it didnt work. How do i fix this?

I hope there is a toggle for female comments and i can turn off them.

Because female Inn keepers and female priests say guard's comments sometime. that is so weird.

Unfortunately it is a limitation of Skyrim as I use the built in HELLO comment system. The only way to fix it would be to add a timer in there and reset it when ever a comment is made, but that is something I'm not keen to do as every single comment will need a script to reset the timer. Just that in itself would take quite a while to implement, but also I don't want to add an extra load to papyrus where I can avoid it.

Yes, all events will be a separate quest line which you will be able to switch on and off separately to the standard comments. Each event will be split in to two distinct areas - Helpful and Unhelpful so you can choose which ones you want....this is already implemented for follower comments on the Devious Device mod.

So Im playing a male character but people are still using sexist comments on me as if I was a female character. I also have toggled off all the boxes in the mcm menu to try and disable it but it didnt work. How do i fix this?

Unfortunately this mod assumes your character is female. It would just be too much work to make it universal.

I hope there is a toggle for female comments and i can turn off them.

Are you sure they are saying guard comments? They could well be saying other comments such as female NPC comments as they have quite a wide reaching criteria. if you notice them saying something weird please try and let me know the actual comment (or as close as you can remember). This will help me track down the line so I can check its trigger criteria.

Exactly what I have been looking for!

However, I would like to make a suggestion that for civilized citizens, their comments should be optionally disabled when they respect the player. That should be something like when the player is a thane.

It can also go the other way around: their comments are enabled when the player is not respected. That can be:

1. Player is naked (sexlab arousal compatibility?)

2. Player is a known prostitute (RP compatibility?)

I feel like these would add a lot of immersion to this mod. (Or even an option to turn off comments from certain source is good)

Great work and I will follow along!

It would certainly add to the immersion, but actually making it do that would be quite time consuming...but you never know :)

New version is up which now allows you to turn guard dialogue on/off.

I have also added the first event for guards which is the strip search ability. It will only trigger at night and is pulled from the same pool as the normal dialogue so it might be some time before it triggers for you.

If you want to trigger the event straight away then there is a toggle switch in the mcm. Simply toggle it off or on to fire the quest instantly (best to be close to a guard too :) )

I like the new quest. There should be an option however, where if you tolerate his search instead of mouthing off, he just fucks you instead of beats you. I don't like the scar marks that happen after he does that... though that may have been from Defeat, I'm not sure.

Might want an option for those to not happen, if someone's body slavetats list is full.

Just suggestions. c:

I reread all your change logs on my way to work, and I apologize for not realizing that there is already a feature for turning off comments! :) (But does it actually work? Your notes for v0.7 seems to suggest otherwise. Haven't tested it)

Things I would like to report:

1. I'm running mods like Immersive Citizen, which make NPCs talk less to you. This results in very rare (I actually haven't seen any) NPC comments directly. All I have been gotten are passive comments like Bump comments.

2. It looks like Bump comments are all very aggressive ones (as in having insults). Is this intentional, or does Bump comment need to be categorized too? It's really strange when NPCs introduce the dragonborn to the beautiful Solitude and right away calls her a whore.   :D

Things I would love to see:

1. Opponent soldiers (or soldiers who are aggresive to you) should have Bandit comments. What do you think?

2. I realized that certain things might be too difficult to implement, but still, it would be really really nice if it integrates with Sexlab Arousal. When the dragonborn is marked as nude by Arousal, comments should be adjusted to come out more often or modified in its context. That will add so much immersion. So much that I burst into a shower of white...

3. Just some thoughts: is it possible to provide customizable files for the comments, like an xml? Just want to know if it's possible at all, so that users can add comments they want to personally see.  (And I just read about the TESVEdit post, nvm then :D)

(It will also be nice that each comment can be tagged as certain categories, with one type of npcs saying certain types of comments, and each category managed by MCM)

By reading your post I realized that the intention of you creating this mod is different from my intention of using it. It seems like this mod is adding more humiliating aspects while I'm seeking immersion from this mod. :) Nonetheless, I really appreciate your work. I have been asking for Bandit comments type of mod before, and your mod does exactly that. Thanks!

I think there is no separation between male's comments and female's.

let you know what i saw today.

A female bandit said : "Tell you what, drop your weapons and I'll go easy on your ass..."

"Take her alive, friends. Then we can have some fun!"

A female citizen said : "I wouldn't mind having you tied to my bunk, ready and waiting for when i get home."

Also many weird comments have showed up from female citizens.

He won't always whip you....in fact that is only one outcome of many :) It does depend on what response you choose, if you choose "You won't get away with this" there is a higher chance of the guard showing you that he absolutely can get away with it!

I think the whip marks are part of the zaz animation pack as that is where the whip comes from....but I'm not 100% sure.

How do you trigger the guard quest to happen? I've been roaming around at night and the forced search from the guards hasn't happened yet

In the MCM menu there is a toggle switch to activate the quest straight away. I can't remember of the top of my head, but I think you just need to click it once to change its state for the quest to start. You'll soon know once you return back to Skyrim as the nearest guard should approach you. If they don't click it again :)

Best use when close to a guard otherwise you'll have to wait for them to path to you which could take some time if they are a long way away, so be careful :)

All comments can now be turned off in the latest Devious Device version as I managed to work out a way to do it without adding any extra global variables etc. The vanilla version doesn't have that ability.

The bump comments are aggressive...but that's because you walked in to someone and the citizens of Skyrim are not a forgiving bunch! :)

The Guard comments when attacking could be implemented, but they might also use them when attacking other NPCs...although I think I can do a check to make sure it is the player only. Nice idea!

I might well add comments based upon Sexlab Arousal values, would certainly make sense.

This mod is designed to make the life of a woman in Skyrim feel much harsher. They are objectified by men and are certainly deemed the weaker....but fairer sex! How much immersion that adds to your game very much depends on how you see Skyrim yourself. The vanilla (non Devious Devices mod) is probably the most immersive in that sense as they only ever make comments based around sexist remarks which is what can happen in real life (ask any woman who's walked past a load of workmen!). Certainly in the 40s/50s/60s women were terribly objectified by their male counter parts. Check out the TV series Mad Men for some fairly accurate representations of America around that time.

The devious devices version strays from Skyrim lore much more as it deals with fetish and bondage situations which just don't occur in real life (at least , not often).

Anyway, glad you enjoy parts of this mod :)

Hmm....depends how you look at it. The female bandit comments seem fine to me :)

The female citizen comment is definitely wrong though as that is a guard comment so not sure why they would be saying that....unless a guard comment got added to the NPC list (I'll have to check and see). Unless the NPC was a female guard, in which case it's also OK in my head.
