bjornk Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Footage: https://vid.me/Qqh2 Here's what I think about that footage... - Retarded AI, both the friendly and the foe - Overly simplified loot (not even icons for items) - Bad, boring music - Uninspiring combat (pretty much the same as FNV) - Animated perk chart (is that even necessary?) - Leaves the dog downstairs, takes the elevator a few stories up, the dog magically reappears. - Yet another overrated Bethesda game
RitualClarity Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 a dog just casually walking while on fire.. not even whimpering.. I don't think I like that perk panel you enter.. Of course elevators work 200+ years in the future...
bjornk Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Of course elevators work 200+ years in the future... Come on, it's not much different than the nuclear powered radios you'd find in any abandoned building in FNV.

Guest endgameaddiction Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Hell yeah! we got the voice actor who did the supermutants for FO3. Way better VA than the one they used for FNV.
bjornk Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Fuuuucking hell, this thread has become the biggest negative circlejerk I've seen all month. Are some of you even listening to yourselves? Less-than-stellar graphics on the PS4 version? No item icons and an animated perk chart? Stylistically resembles Fallout 3? 0/5! 0/10! Worst game of the decade! Sub-par hiking simulator! Yet another overrated Bethesda game! No no, you've got it all wrong. It's the best game eva!
Kendo 2 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Watched the video in Kargrin's post. What I saw of that vault interior looked like total shit. And awesome AI on the flaming dog just standing in the way of combat like all Bethesda followers do. Good to see they fixed that...not. It's looking like technically FO4 will be Witcher 2 with guns. Welcome to the cutting edge Bethesda...the edge of 4 years ago.

Guest Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Hey, easy there, don't steal my idea! I'm going to sell it for a few bucks. I need the money. No paying mods for FO4... According to some posts (in this site.)
Sacremas Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 THe dog not really reacting while on fire and while there's an enemy there firing at you rather than rushing in isn't good. But at the same time I noticed the dog was blocking the door after the perk part, and it didn't slow him down, so that's one massive skyrim issue gone. As long as it's just friendlies that no longer block you. A few things can be gleaned from pausing a few times per second in the perks part; First of all it does occur to me that perk mods will actually be a lot easier than I thought. You just change the perks and add additional ranks. It does mean that if you want something entirely new in a category that didn't even occur to Bethesda, you'll have to remove one of the 70 base perks entirely. Armor mods and "high tech mods". I would think power armor mods are high tech so what's armor mods? A perk can let you breathe under water in addition to taking no radiaiton damage from submersion. Going to have to play through the game to see how vital water stuff is before I remove the breathe under water. Could at least be level 3 of the perk instead of level 1. Crits build up as you use vats filling a gauge rather than being RNG, however perks can introduce RNG such as a 15 % chance to instantly fill up the meter. Also there's a perk called "Critical Banker" that lets you "store" a crit to use it later on. Stimpacks and radaway removes a percentage of your damage and radiation rather than it being numerical, it looks like it starts with 20 % healing from a stimpack/radawy and the perks boost that with 20 % more, 100 % healing from one stimpack on 4 ranks. Seems like a LOT! Hell even 60 % sounds like a fukton. I'm curious if stimpacks will be very rare now or the like to go with it, if not you can bet on scaricity mods to do that as well as to tone them down to say 5 % with another 5 % per rank of the perk as well as gradual healing. SInce we know health is still point based (Lifegiver gives you +20 HP per rank as before) I'm betting that someone will revert stimpacks to work just like they did in Fallout 3 pretty fast. I'm betting they did this to avoid the decreasing value of stimpacks where you have to carry 100+ if you want to go into a dangerous zone because it takes 20 to heal you fully at that point in the game, this is planned as a game with no level limit at all and scaling enemies (which by itself is an issue) so stimpacks being as effective and valuable to you level 100 as they were on level 1 is probably the intent. Curious to see how Super Stimpacks work though, they may have been cut. A perk called Ghoulish also lets you heal from radiation. I really wonder how that will work since your radiation amount actually decreases your maximum health now, if you have 20 % radiaiton you'll only have 80 % of your health for example. Could be an interesting balance looking from a "sweet spot" where your health will regenerate fast enough and still leave you the ability to take enough damage. Or maybe 90 % radiaiton will mean you regenerate so fast it doesn't matter, we'll see. Hacking and lockpicking is perk based, simplest won't need any perks but more advanced hindrances will. Sounds appropriate, basically taking the skills and part them up into the parts that actually did anything at all, this is a change that's very welcome and I wish had always been a thing. The dog can be upgraded with perks, first rank lets the dog hold your enemy and make VATS targeting easier. Also with a separate higher level perk your companions will be more effective in general and can never hurt you, so feel free to give them grenades and flamethrowers. Pretty much a necessity in a game like this, despite lack of realism. I hope there's a way to make your own attacks not hurt your companions either, so we'll see less flaming dogs. Perks can make you immune to chem addiciton with first rank already giving 50 %. Already the first rank of the alchohol perk will make you immune to alcholism, and it's got two more perks, betting they increase the benefits of drinking alcohol substantially. Another perk increases the benefits of Chems, first rank increasing their duration by +50 %, and other ranks probably boosting their effects. I'm liking that boosting their effects aren't reliant on you removing their drawbacks first. Rahter than relying on you actually being hit by sunlight (I never took the perk due to that) the Solar Powered perk now works like Night Person, from 8 AM to 8 PM, first rank giving you +2 Strength and Endurance in that time. Other ranks will probably give fast healing and damage resisance. It overlaps for 2 hours one each side with Night Person which increases Intelligence and Perception. I really wonder if perks and boosts from things like power armor and chems can increase your stats above 10 temporarily? Really hope so, or just like in previous games some items and perks would become useless as you go up in level or depending on your character. There are melee based perks in both strength, endurance and Luck, with strength increasing the damage as you'd expect, endurance increasing your damage+DR while standing still, luck increasing critical and such. "Gun bashing" is a separate thing from other melee weapons with it's own perks. So much for bayonets. There's also a perk that increases the range of your melee attacks in VATS called Blitz, with the description "Find the gap and make the tackle." Charisma and Luck will both help you with your money, luck helping you find more randomly, charisma letting you barter for more as well as set up more barter routes. Single shot rifles benefit from a perk in Perception, automatic rifles benefit from a perk in Agility, and all weapons shot from "the hip" whatever that mean (not aiming down sights?) can be boosted with a perk in Strength. May have to invest in that as I really didn't like how much of the FOV that laser rifle was covering up when aiming. Lady Killer has three ranks, first rank makes persuasion easier and gives you a +5 % damage vs female characters. Why do I expect Black Widow will be way more useful, just like Champion of Dibella in Skyrim? No sign of Confirmed Bachelor, but maybe the additional ranks in the perk expand it to both sexes? Doubt it. Bloody Mess in addition to extra chance of seeing gruesome deaths and exploding heads will also give +5 % bonus damage to all attacks per rank. I wonder how much of the videos and kills we've seen have been with that perk for effect? There's three separate stealth related perks that increase how well and silent you move, your sneak attack damage, etc. Mister Sandman in addition to the sneaking kills also increase damage of silenced weapons. Pick pocketing is a separate perk in Perception. Would have preferred Agility, but it was probably full up with all the damage and AP related perks, we'll probably see a few cases where it seems like a perk should be on another ability than it is. Lone Wanderer is a charisma perk for those that don't like companions, while adventuring alone you have +15 % damage and +50 carry capacity on rank 1 of 3. Idiot Savant in Luck is kinda fun, random chances of getting x3 times the XP from any action, with the chance going up depending on how low your intelligence is. IIRC Intelligence gives you bonus % XP so this maybe balances it out for those single-playthrough morons who can barely talk. Action Boy rather than granting bonus Action Points makes them regenerate 25 % faster on rank 1. I seem to recall a Gun Fu related perk from IIRC Wanderer's Edition that did that before. I wonder how Action Points are gained, purely Agility or not gained at all and eveyrone has the same? Actually leaning towards the latter or Agility is once again OP. Grim Reaper's Sprint (which I kinda wonder is spelled wrong?) has a RNG based chance to instantly restore all action points after killing somone/thing. Scrapper allows you to keep uncommon materials like screws, copper and aluminum when scrapping weapons and armor. Guessing alternative to just dropping them from your inventory, since you can't use them for repair any more? Both robots, monsters and humanoids can apparently be controlled via perks now, RobCo Certified may be an intergrated part of the game. Demolitions Expert lets you both do +25 % more damage with explosives and craft explosives at a "Chemistry Station" which I figure can also be used to make chems and stimpacks. Hoping it won't let you make a fat man on level 1 but it probably will until modders get to it. Weapons are spread all over the chart, heavy weapons have their damage perk in strength, pistols in agility, rifles in perception, etc. Not seeing a energy weapon specific perk however, rather seeing a Radiation weapon specific perk, which I'm betting don't apply to Fat Man alone. The Sniper perk also applies specifically to sniping outside of VATS rather than in it now. There are perks for avoiding damage while standing still in Endurance, and for avoiding more damage while moving in Agility. Adamantium Skeleton's wording goes to cybernetic as well as literal dephts, with your skeleton now being infused with an indestructible metal. Lawsuit incoming. The benefits that you take less limb damage confirms limb damage is actually a thing still (I was wondering). A perk called "Penetrator" lets you aim at foes behind cover in VATS. I wonder if shots will have some ability to ignore cover outside of VATS as well? We know destructible material like walls are in after all, maybe a proper armor piercing high caliber rilfe with an IR scope will just not really care if your opponents are taking cover. If it's not in the game already, expect a mod to add that. Pain Train lets you knock over foes by sprinting into them while wearing power armor, with robots and oversized enemies being immune, three ranks. Concentrated Fire in Perception increases your chance to hit a part of someone's limb on subsequent hits while in VATS, a perk in Agility meanwhile increases the damge of subsequent shots in VATS, seeing various builds here from these and other perks. The Luck 10 perk makes the deadliest weapons on the battlefield the ones in your enemies hands, as their bullets riccochet back to hit them, with the chance for it happening increasing as your health goes down.
bjornk Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Wanna read a "positive circlejerk" (i.e. if you want to temporarily lower your INT)? See here, avoid staying for too long or permanent brain damage might occur. Link to leaked videos (found it on 4chan)http://pastebin.com/yLedwhZs

Sacremas Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Things I liked from the video we saw; Simpilified looting interface not requiring another pop-up window. Just too many of those in RPGs in general. Simpilified does mean no item icons in that window, but expect them in the normal inventory screen. Do keep in mind that all inventory, pip boy, hacking, lockpicking and such is REAL TIME now, no pausing where you can still move but your enemies not, if you bring up the Fallout 3 loot window you could block a super mutant with a sledgehammer coming at you, and unlike hacking looting happens too often for it not to be simplified. Your character reacting in voices to things like a successful (and probably unsuccessful) hack, I like that, I hope we'll see a lot of input like that, including tripping and babbling while high on drugs or drunk. Also hacking screen actually being such a nice transition and looking at the actual screen rather than a separate pop-up, much better immersion this way. Also by the way the hack terminal had a "Load Holotape" button... Favorites style menu that was brought up at one point, cycling through both weapons and stimpacks, again whatever keeps me from having to bring up the pip boy for such small things is a good thing in my book. I actually played through Fallout 3 entirely before I realized I could hotkey weapons (either to numericals in PC version or to arrow directions on the pad on console), so I was pretty sick of constantly bringing up the pip boy for everything. More animated and less static surroundings, slightly destructible objects around, smoke and fire from a thrown grenade, canisters being animated at least occasionally, you being in general able to mess with stuff. This just adds immersion and makes even a poor graphics world seem more alive than the best graphics static FPS games. A thing I just noticed; I'm betting that video was shot a day or two ago, because there were Halloween objects around. I wonder if things like seasons will be reflected in game? That could be both negative and positive, you wonder how the hell that pumpkin head got into that old abandoned office and if supermutants care about Halloween, but at the same time thinking could be cool around Christmas and such in towns. The super mutants reacting to you as you plowed through their ranks. I can see this being exploitable potentially, like the final five raiders in the base panicking and getting out the back door and just abandoning the fight if you kill a dozen of their mates, that was actually a commented issue in Skyrim how ever bandit will just fling themselves at you when there's a dead burning dragon rigth behind you, I mean wtf, you'd shit your pants in real life. More reactivity from NPCs is what I'm hoping for in general, they'll treat you different near the end of the game when everyone knows who you are and that you've killed thousands and done blah blah either postiively or negatively than they react to you in the start of the game. Sort of the "Do You Know Who I Am?" mod, which EVERY game should have a version of later on. Speaking of reactivity, I noticed deah ragdolling to be way more natural, and super mutant corpses moving slightly for a few seconds after you killed them. The dog never impeeded the player's path at any point in the video, in fact it took me a few seconds to even notice he was there. That removes my main issue with companions in Skyrim right out the bat, companions should be there to actually help you and add to the fun, not to be a micromanagement nightmare of needing them to get in the elevator, get out of the doorway, etc. If these things are in a game, I am not bringing the fuckers along. I absolutely despised companions in Skyrim, and in fact I still don't use them unless some quest specifically want me to bring them along, just because of them getting in the way too much. EDIT: By the way, did anyone else than me get the impression of more like watching a Fallout mod in the Bioshock games than watching a Fallout 3 successor? A LOT of gameplay elements reminded me heavily of the Bioshock games.
youngfool Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Remember when every mainstream media was telling us the Iraq invasion was a good idea and we bought it? Remember when Justin Berber became the most hated person on the internet and made us hold a personal grudge against him even thought many of us had never heard of or cared about him till that point? Well, I think all those leaked videos is playing with our heads in similar ways, for all we know, those videos could have been adjust to lowest texture or playing in the lowest difficulties. Let not be too quick to judge.

I like to put them in my cellar and drive needles into their eyes, their screams make me so horny. Wanna come over?
