Rags mentions he's working on a big project so he's making smaller commentary bits to get his thoughts out, that's what this channel is for.

He just used that tweet as a starting point to talk about consumerism. He did a little video on the Mandalorian too a few days ago.

Yeah, but you also have to understand that it's easy to farm twitter for something to be angry about. Sometimes I think it's the only purpose that shithole of a website serves, if I'm perfectly honest. I've seen plenty of videos throughout that make some claim about the easily triggered snowflake twitter-mob having found yet another target but if you look for it, it's one or two tweets from someone without any relevance and just a couple of likes, often in the single or double digits. It doesn't help that there's many anti-SJW channels who do nothing on screen except reading tweets and kotaku articles with a snarky tone and the conclusion is always the same. It's all just so tiresome.

And that's why picking hard sides is ultimately bullshit. On one hand it's hilarious to see woke maggots throw tantrum articles like that, on the other hand entire youtube channels do nothing but vapidly cash in on those with a constant grind. Yeah I can see that, most of his content revolves around gaming though, his older videos were debunking PC Gaming vs. Console Gaming stuff, usually calling out other Youtubers for their BS. When it comes to the political/social justice stuff he'll do response videos to people with big voices Riley J. Dennis, Feminist Frequency, the Jim Sterling thing or that PBS show that totally failed whose name I forgot. Tweets are rarely the centre of attention, if it was I would not be watching his videos because that's just silly.

Right, okay. I think i can shed a bit of light onto this since i used to kinda think along similar lines as well. Part of the reason a lot of people dismiss mobile games as "not real gaming" is because they have a reputation for being "casual". A lot of big mobile games are not very demanding as far as playing dexterity goes, take Angry Birds for example. Candy Crush is used widely as an example because it's just so damn popular. It also has to do with the fact that this image of mobile games is based on the 2012/2013 days when mobile gaming was far less impressive and complex. There's also the element of engagement, as in "control feel", essentially saying that since it's just a touch device with limited control maneuverability, it will never be as engaging or demanding as a console, let alone PC. This issue is kinda cancelled out with the mobile controller devices that are gaining traction now.

 

For me, looking at the idea of being a "gamer" suggests anybody that plays a game and is engaged enough into into. By the literal definition, that's a "gamer". I can kinda see where the "mobile gaming is not real gaming" thing comes from, but with rapidly improving mobile tech that wouldn't be a viable argument anymore.

So it'll take at least a decade and a half for the mass opinion to shift the other way, it's just the whole "video games are for losers and nerds" thing on a smaller scale, in time it'll sort itself out when more and more people start dabbling into it. Now being a "nerd" is the new cool. My dad still says it's hilarious how times have changed things so much, for the better. lol

To be fair to Rags he hasn't come up with that argument in more recent videos so maybe he's phased that idea out of, well, himself. Hopefully that stigma goes away, it's a big section of the gaming market if nothing else due to sheer convenience and with how powerful phones are now to really put great experiences in there. I play PSP games on mine for example, and Fate/GO. A lot of Fate/GO. Since like 2016. I have issues.

Yeah, there's a bit of a delay in the mass opinions changing and shifting, but for the most part in regards to things like these, it occurs. Every now and then i see people in the racing games community say that mobile racing is trash, i like to use Real Racing 3 as a debunking example. It's genuinely impressive how they managed to make such an engaging and polished simcade for android. Asphalt has been always crazy (in a good way) so there's that i guess, though Asphalt 9 is trash lol. I didn't have PSP, but i do have the PSP emulator on my phone and a few games in there like Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai: Another Road. Pretty good stuff.

Right about now, it is this odd persistent crash when attempting to replay the opening sequence of Skyrim Special Edition whenever I try to move past Alduin shouting on the wall on the way to the keep.

I've never seen this crash before migrating to this hard drive even though I am not using any mods affecting dragon skeletons or shouts that I have not used before. The Unofficial Patch does absolutely nothing to prevent it, at that.

 

Even after all of this time, there are new game-breaking bugs to find. It is truly a gift that keeps on giving when one doesn't have enough aggravation in one's time.

Tis the season.  Wife's hours got reduced (she works at a school) and we need two new tires for the car.   At least the car mechanic didn't try to upsell anything to my wife.  I doubt the kids will appreciate the gift of "a working car (for mom)" this Christmas .
