MrEsturk Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 My thoughts on Steam's new version of the library menu: Seriously, is there a way to get the old version back? And if there is why do they have to make locating the option for it so fucking cryptic?
MrEsturk Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 So basically its jump through a bunch of hoops to revert back to an outdated version of the client (I'm not doing that) or suck it? Great...... God forbid they just include a simple toggle setting.

Eh, I don't want to be stuck reverting the 12 times a day Steam spams out an update, shut down updates just to keep the old style, or have to deal with incompatibilities. Might as well tear off the band-aid and learn how to use this stupid new system now. Its more of an oversized eyesore than anything else.

Just make a second copy of Steam Shortcut, and edit that copied shortcut to add the -no-browser commandline. You will want to do that in ANY case, also with the old library. Now if you open steam to run a game, use the nobrowser version. If you want to check your library or the store, use the regular version. This way you won't miss any security updates either. Then run your games from the menu:

Make sure virtualisation is off and make sure to add Steam as a proper exception to your virus scanner. That DOES introduce some risk but boy does it help with performance. The fact that Steam does not go 'incognito/low perf' mode when a game is run is abominable. It should have a game mode, in which all services stop and another tiny service for DRM remains active.
worik Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 ... wanting to check out new mods for Skyrim. How they look like in game. Installing them, arranging the load order, giving them a run through TES5Edit and running around in a test game and wondering where the hell all that fancy new stuff is. ... Realizing that I forgot to tick "activate" on all the new esps in my loadorder Stupid me!
megamantaray Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 If your sexual preferences don't align with my labels you should get put in a concentration camp and raped until they do. I nearly lost my job a few months back to some asshole who genuinely thought shit like this and made a big stink about me rejecting them. I'm still not over it, especially since if nothing else I acknowledged their presented gender and rejected them based on it because I don't date guys. (Also I'm married but whatever right? Transphobic.) Edit: We basically live in a cyberpunk(2020/77 had some themes like this) dystopian future but there's no cool body mods, everyone just sucks.

When did the old mantra of "No body is entitled to date you" become obsolete again? These bad apples in the trans community (a few I suspect are impostors) are setting back the the public image of trans people by decades.
GrimReaper Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 If you say 'I don't date transwomen but I do date women' you're transphobic according to some, because in their ideology there's no difference between women and transwomen. I can see where they're coming from, but that's a place where nobody should want to go. I have a heavy suspicion the trans-movement has been undermined by people with severe mental health issues that latched on to the movement because it requires nothing on your part other than saying you identify that way, so many people who've suffered throughout their lives take it up as a weapon to wield it against those who wronged them, i.e. everyone. You're essentially immune to criticism - anything can be deflected by claiming that the person who doesn't agree with you must be inherently transphobic otherwise they'd agree with you. The big inherent problem with intersectionalism is that it has some sort of infallibility clause built into it. There's no way to falsify any given statement and if you try to, any results can be dismissed with implicit biases or internalized -isms. For example, I'd say that what a lot of transpeople face hasn't anything to do with transphobia, it's simply that the majority of people don't find them attractive. If you look at Blaire White for example, I'm sure she doesn't face nearly as much 'transphobia' as the average transperson who hides behind an anime avatar and collects woke-points on twitter all day every day. An intersectionalist would now say what you find attractive and what not is internalized through the society and expressed through implicit biases and that this can and should be socially engineered away. Now, the concept of internalization isn't alien or unscientific per say, just look at the stockholm syndrome or how abusive parents can warp their children into thinking that it's all their fault they get abused. But the intersectionalists claim that their version of these things is invisible and intangible, the only proof they need is for you to disagree with them.

I posted a screenshot a while back here where someone on tumblr asserted that gay people are discriminatory because they don't like women, and of course it's framed as it being specifically because vaginas exist. Here: Spoiler

FauxFurry Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Perhaps all people should require a trial of Rite of Passage to be officially recognized as whatever they identify as in the way that men had to in civilizations around the world throughout most of history? Would that not be truly just and fair?

For some reason I imagined a battle royale scenario where the winner gets a medal, their IDs and passports renewed in their new name if they're trans and free medical assistance for the transition. But the gay/bi winners just get sex toys. Edit: If you're cishet you don't get to compete because you're an affront to society.
Guest Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 How hard is to update your site?! You are more agile to send me daily news about new products I checked as not interested, but you are unable to update your site about the graphic card I want to buy. You kept is as available in our city, but when I called you said you don't have that particular GPU for days now and if I want it, you will order it and make me wait 4-5 days. Thanks, but no thanks. I will buy it at other distributor.

NMM always activate the mods I install through it, but sometimes I have to install some mods manually and I forgot to check the box. I wouldn't say you are stupid. Mistakes happens even to best. I don't want you to say that any more.

I came inches away from buying a heavily discounted Radeon VII but they were out and I'd have to wait, ($900 in the morning, $599 in the afternoon, with related brands charging 800 or so) so I bought what I could almost afford, a cheap-low-class 2080 that didn't break (yet) Suspenseful couple weeks here.
Reginald_001 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 When yet another so called 'Music Historian' blabs about Metal being based in Blues. Fuck off newb. Mozart invented fucking metal. Just scale everything from Major to Minor and there you have it.. METAL. Even the strumming and double bass is in there. See that guy's face in the middle back? The guy with the flute? That's what my face looked like when I heard him say it.. 'Like most other music, Metal is based in the Blues'. My God! You fucking barbarian! You should be ashamed of yourself!

You should be ashamed of yourself! Queen. They even made a Hard Metal rock song. I believe his biography (movie) even stated so. (could be wrong) If I am wrong.. That song alone transfers IMO better than most any other Heavy Metal song does. By the way, many Heavy Metal songs really do start to shine when an orchestra plays it properly. Not quite the same with Blues based Rock and Roll. Again my opinion. I have a collection of links and such and often search for an orchestra version of many of the Heavy Music songs I like. I haven't ever been disappointed. Unlike Rock and roll and any other song transferred. over. The above is like you are listening to a Opera.. Just need Pavarotti and others to sing the main parts. OH, If someone has a link or reference to that.. ❤️ Of course I would agree there are some Heavy Metal that has more Rock and Roll (blues) base and some Rock and roll that has more of a classical base This is my opinion though I just like listening to these variations of the favorite songs that i enjoy in Heavy metal (mostly) Some of them in my opinion are more beautiful if played in a 50 piece concert.

2dk2c.2 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Why does everything PC-related require a fucking class? I want a soundbar (a DTS soundbar) a way to hook UP the soundbar (and headphone-jacks seem so primitive) O, what's this? A tiny "SPDIF" connector on my mobo? But it looks smaller than the one on the TV. OK forget that, what's all this about "HDMI-ARC"? My monitor doesn't do that (does it?) OK back to optical SPDIF ("toslink"), does the motherboard have a decent-sized connector? (Guessing, "yes") It prolly doesn't phase you all but I've impressed the shit outta myself retaining all the bullshit surrounding soundbar-hookups. And I STILL don't know if one would work without tons of amazon orders for adapters.

And I STILL don't know if one would work without tons of amazon orders for adapters. https://www.hardwaresecrets.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-spdif-connection/ Most of the time you use the Orange cable or the HDMI if the device has video output. Simply. your device needs to have the actual connector for the device to work. AS in any case. Adapters are not advised when not absolutely needed. (Note your example doesn't seem to have the other optical. I believe the orange is analog.. check the manual to be sure. https://www.lifewire.com/connect-and-set-up-a-sound-bar-4138615 Pink is Mic in Blue is line in (for different source. never used it myself) Green is for front speakers Black is for rear speakers Orange (is for center subwoofer out Grey is for middle speakers out If your system handles it. Yes for some fucking reason there are two orange connectors. However, often they are listed as "optical" and the other is "analog". (or like below "BD/DVD" ) https://www.hardwaresecrets.com/how-on-board-audio-works/ This is common with sound bars. There might be some HDMI or other connections. Your example can easily be connected using the orange cable (for sound) if you don't have the square one. Both should be good. If you don't have either.. then you have to use the regular audio connections. (Red, White) I do however agree they needed to think a bit about what they were doing as they aren't universally standard. They could have done a better job. However if you mess with these a few times.. it starts to get quite easy to work them and know what you need to.
