I think what bugs me the most is that, as with so many arguments, there is a total disconnect between the various parties involved. Many of what I call the activist group (I tend to lump all the activists, regardless of what they want, into one big group) seem to feel that everything is political...which it can be but doesn't have to be.  The majority of moderates are pretty much the "please just leave me alone, I've got bills to pay" type.  Things do not need to be political for them, because they are more worried about their own problems.  From what I have seen most of the activists are pretty well secure in terms of their lives, they do not seem to have major financial worries, and all too often they seem to be inventing new issues just to give them a reason to complain.

You ThemTube can suck a radioactive dick they are so bad now. Remember when it was all cat videos? Yeah they were a fucking dating site where people showed off their cats. Now that they have more content they are shoving an outdated television model down everybody's throat, they are advertised as fuck and they are screwing over Youtube channels so they can't profit from said ads. Anybody else think they are sucking corporate dick and screwing with everybody else?

 

They are doing a disservice to their customers by censoring and removing content that doesn't deserve it likely through some automated system. They are doing a disservice to their employees through a broken revenue and subscription system.

 

If you want to be in a good relationship(yes even business relations) don't screw over your partners no matter how low on the corporate chain they are. If you want them gone tell them to leave. I don't exactly have a business degree but even I know If you are screwing over both employees and customers then you are a shitty business that deserves to go under. So go under already!

I dunno how long ago it was but a youtube musician who makes all original music got one of his videos taken down because someone did a copyright strike on it and his appeal was denied, there's a lot of that happening. Demonetised videos still get ads of course but none of it goes to the creator even after several iterations of video edits so the "offensive" shit's taken out. It's all pandering and greed, getting censored for wrong-think is only a small part of it, but they'll push anything big enough and ignore egregious offenses until enough of a stink is made about them. That Suicide Forest video was put on Trending(which is a manual list) and was only taken down 4-6 hours after people began complaining, then Youtube took 9 days to officially acknowledge it, all the guy got off with was a slap on the wrist. At first I thought Youtube was kinda pandering to the OldMedia faggots because of all the trash news they were getting and eventually made a deal with them to feature them on their platform and cut down on that but now it's plainly clear it's just business. One of my favourite parts of this however is how they purged hundreds of channels for offensive and political content a year or two ago but the main person everyone was hounding, Pewdiepie, didn't get a single video of deleted. It's all so inconsistent and stupid that I don't know if it's purposeful or incompetence. At this point the only good things I can list Google has done with Youtube are winning that lawsuit against Viacom years ago which would've permanently ruined the platform and online privacy(not that it matters now huh?) and taking the platform itself off the hands of the 3 original founders because they were idiots but besides that they couldn't maintain it since it was getting so big. Everything since then, since ad revenue and living off Youtube became a thing I really can't say has been positive changes.

I won't say she pisses me off, it is more like a very long drawn out sigh followed by a "this again?", but Fiona Nova at Achievement Hunter.  I know she's LGBTQA+whateverelse-they-added-to-this-thing but she feels almost like a token employee that was hired just so they'd have an extra female and a lesbian.  The simple facts are that: 

She isn't funny; she just yells or is dead silent, she has some good moments but they are rare. I can't say that I would forget that any of the others are actually in a video, but it happens with her. She can't play games for shit; she is good at gmod, I'll give her that, but they tried to put her in the GTA video that came out and unlike everyone else who've been playing for years and have stuff out the butt she has nothing. No cars, no guns, nothing. Ryan had to add extra rules just to account for the fact that all Fiona has is a single pistol. Why do AH keep putting someone who has (apparently) never touched the game into videos? What is she spending her work day on? If she isn't in content then she needs to be getting her skill to the point where she can be in content. She isn't an agent of chaos, even when she tries to be. Lindsey is an agent of chaos; she is reasonably good at most of the games AH plays, and she knows how to get in and mess things up just enough for fun and content while not (always) totally destroying whatever goal the video has. Fiona doesn't seem to have that yet, and I think a lot of that is because she hasn't played the AH mainstay games (Minecraft & GTA in particular) pretty much at all before joining AH.

 

I feel bad. I feel bad for Fiona being in a position where a large part of the fans seem to want her gone because no-one wants to be told they aren't liked and that they should leave, that has got to hurt on some level.  I feel bad for AH having to try and include someone who seems to have little to no idea what she is doing, and who isn't liked by the fans. I had expected the dislike of her to die off as she was in more and more content, but she doesn't seem to be in content on a regular basis and when she is there are still a high number of comments on YT about how people wish she wasn't.  I can't help but feel that her seemingly overly aggressive attitude isn't really due to her being from New York, it is an insecurity about the fact that she isn't as good as the rest of AH, and that a vocal group of fans still don't like her even after 10 months. She needs to be moved to a support position because that seems to be what she does most. Aside from Larry and his work on Let's Roll, most of the support staff aren't in videos. Trying to force her into things is simply not working. Not for her, and not for the fans.

I think most have "day jobs", and use YT just for some extra money on the side. I think Fiona just likes gaming even though she may not be good at it, and probably has a bubbly personality. I don't know her, but that is what I get from some of her tweets. 

Successful youtubers have merch and patreons.

Youtube is not viable like it used to be, any minute Youtube will decide it's your time, and you vanish.

Unless you're Logan Paul or Pewdiepie, or around that tier and those guys have a ton of merch too.

I've never watched an Achievement Hunter video, though.

There is nothing for anyone to take any blame for there. Ads are just another means of generating revenue for all parties either producing content or hosting it. It just comes across as a bit odd that content is suppressed to avoid chasing away advertisers when advertisements themselves can have even 'worse' things in them than the videos being demonetized.

Because Xenophobia, hate and fear of everything unknown and other such behaviors have been ingrained into our genes for thousands and thousands of years. It's mostly natural behavior to simply hate and fear everything you don't know. Look at babies and toddlers, scared of fucking everything, crying whenever anything's out of the ordinary. It's the basic human state.

 

Only evolved people can learn to distinguish and push those base instincts down. It takes frontal-lobe power to do so, and the simple fact is that 60% of people don't have enough IQ to reach that level of understanding of reality or themselves.

 

It's far more easy and far more gratifying to hate and dismiss and play the victim than it is to take a hard look in the mirror and make it so you like what you see.

Ads are mostly there for google to make money off of creators as well as being a nifty tool to justify whatever authoritan crap google wants to push. Google pretty much owns one third of the internet, you can't tell me that the advertisers are actually able to put any real pressure on google.
