Content Consumer Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Hey all you experienced modders out there, I know I said I would stop whining and begging for help on this thread, but I'm kind of in a bind, and I've gotten some very good advice here... If anyone has any ideas about this problem, I wonder if it would be too much trouble for you to take a look? Never fucking mind. Turns out, aliases were the problem all along. Goddamn it, I'm starting to hate the buggers.

Goddamn it, I'm starting to hate the buggers. I did try to warn you... I know, I know... I just had to try one more. All the cool kids are doing it, and I thought maybe if I tried an Alias, I could be cool too. Turns out, they really do mess with your head. Actually, I had several aliases in the mod, but I wasn't actually using any of them... they were leftovers from when I was trying to do it that way. Even unused, defunct aliases can cause headaches.

The Jazz Man Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I really do like how the cage scene works out now, though. Better than having the door automatically unlock. Just thought I'd mention it. Yeah, I'm happy with the cage as it stands. The pain is going to be managing 8 more just like it, and having them appear and vanish as necessary. That's the next big thing, once I have the other half of the scene sorted out so have the cages underground if you go onto oblivion the place your to take martin in the final attack you know in the imperial city but forgot the buildings location if you use tfc and go under the floor you will see a door underground if you enter that door using the tcl to move through objects itll take you to that part of the story line but a word of warning DONT use a character you want to keep since itll trap you in the war part without martin it wont let you leave are you sure that you posted this in the right thread?

As long as they are named, a simple "cage1.enable()" / "cage1.disable()" works just fine.
grifterrik Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Wait a minute...Ulfric is a Thalmor Agent? Did I totally miss something in the MQ way back when I actually played it? Or is this a black helicopters/tinfoil hat/Obama death camp sort of thing? In the interest of posting something other than a ridiculous question, I'll just say I'm a big fan of your mod. Its probably the most fun of the Devious quests, so thanks for your work!

Its probably the most fun of the Devious quests, so thanks for your work! Read the dossier on him next time you infiltrate the Thalmor embassy. Although, to be more accurate, he is closer to a Thalmor stooge than an agent. He was completely oblivious to the fact that the Thalmor were manipulating him. Either way, I lost all respect for him when I read that.
iggypop1 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 hI Thank you for the mod ..looks good. I tried it yesterday I got a courier message...went to solitude...got the quest, got drugged wake up in restraints and a questmark to go for, ran cross country to letter saying go to...North something fort, new marker. found the cage and letter, went in and made my self comfortable after sleep i wake up with new message and a letter (with a riddle? what riddle?)outside cage, let myself out, got my gear. quest end. Is that it? Or.... Iggy "Riddle" is kind of a misleading term. It just refers to the fact that if you just read the note without picking it up, you won't see the key hidden beneath it. After a couple of days another courier will hand you another note with instructions for the next part of the quest.

The Thalmor backed/instigated the coup against the Elsweyr Confederacy (4E 115), allowing them to "liberate" part of the Khajiit lands. Then, the Thalmor helped start a civil war in Hammerfell, where the Thalmor once again "helped" large chunks of the country by invading, Starting the Great War (4E 171). Now they are backing a coup/civil war in Skyrim, while at the same time moving more and more troops into the area...(4E 201 - Skyrim game)

DocClox Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 I appear to be having problems posting. Trying a short message to see if that helps any. [edit] Good to see you back in the saddle, Doc! Or dropping by to feed the horsey, at least, or whatever suitably stress-free definition you might prefer.Usually I know better than to mess with alpha versions, but writing was mentioned. I'll just... take a look with a throwaway save. Yup. At the moment it's turning out more like feeding the horsey, alas. That said, I do have some things I want to do here. And I may have to do some work on it, if onlu so I can get a screeny to explain the scale of the problem to badders in the first quest, you should use the inescapable armbinder, otherwise the player can just get out of it by struggling at the beginning and then it's just a matter of running and killing which is too easy. There's a MCM option for that. It doesn't do anything at the moment though, but inescapable binders are planned.More to the point though, the first race is the easy one for the second quest:1) I have some Devious error when equipping the party heels, see log below I verified I was up to date with the DD mods, beside the problem seems to come from your cutom "party heel" (the item code prefix is the one from your mod, so I guess you customized it?) Yep. If you have xinafay's heels installed they should work out as a pair of red high heels. If not, they'll look like slave boots. They've been tweaked to make moving at anything over a slow walk counter-productive. Not sure what happened to them in your case. Clearly there's a reference not being filled properly. I'll have to take a look tonight. 2) when it is time for getting the devious item equipped, the player has the option to either equip the item or let the cart driver put them on her,but the before last item is the armbinder, so theorically the player should not be able to manually equip the last item (gag), since her arm are supposedly binded and inventory should be off limit. There's supposed to be some dialogue about that, but I fiddled with the order in which the items were applied and ended up in a right muddle. Honestly, by the time I took a break from this mod, I don't think I knew which way was up any more. 3) when the player is bound in the cart with the zad chained pose, the player head was partly stuck in the front of the cart, which was weird, also, since the legs are spread, the body had the bad habit of jumping high and low because the leg are interfering with the cart sides.maybe use another zad pose that take less space so the body can lie entirely in the cart ? I can move her down the cart bed a bit which ought to help. I'm reluctant to abandon the legs apart pose with all the vulnerability that implies. Of course if it can't be made to work I might have to reconsider. Let's see if moving the marker helps first. I got stuck with nothing else happening juste after the little story part with the beholder trying to convince the cart driver to go away for a while.is that where you are at the moment with the developement, or did I have a problem ? Nope that's it. Strictly speaking, there should be a transition to Aleator Estate and the start of another scene, but I knew that was broken, and the new scene is largely unwritten as yet, so yeah, that's pretty much the end of the playable mod at this time
DocClox Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 meh. that's still only half the reply I wanted to post. I have no idea what's happening...

Either way, I lost all respect for him when I read that. I so wanted to show that dossier to someone... anyone... and get a reaction. Even if that reaction was very minor like "that makes total sense" from the Imperials or something, or "I don't believe it" from the Stormcloaks. Too bad... meh. that's still only half the reply I wanted to post. I have no idea what's happening... I have the feeling there was a recent site update that did some strange things. I too have been blocked from posting some things (particularly large blocks of text, which I tend to do with distressing frequency), and now if I quote two separate comments it treats it like a multiquote, my upload capability seems to have improved somewhat, one or two other things... EDIT: Just like this. I quoted twice rather than multiquoted, and here it is in a single post.
Kuatt Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 2) when it is time for getting the devious item equipped, the player has the option to either equip the item or let the cart driver put them on her, but the before last item is the armbinder, so theorically the player should not be able to manually equip the last item (gag), since her arm are supposedly binded and inventory should be off limit. Honestly, by the time I took a break from this mod, I don't think I knew which way was up any more. I can't check right now, but I seem to remember it working as, I expect, intended. If you ask to equip the gag yourself, he says "yeah, sure... wait a minute." and then equips it himself saying that you are obviously unable to.
DocClox Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 OK then. I better cultivate the habit of brevity. Apologies to anyone who I don't directly reply to: @iggypop1: What jfaser said. It's not really an intelligence test, just the guy who writes the notes finding another way to be very rude to your toon. @badders: Problem is there are 8 cages 16 doors and a whole pile of walkways, fires and the like. And its all got to vanish. It's easier to use an enable parent and disable the lot of it together. Still a pain to get it right though. @District1991: I thought you might be using MO. Which mod is supplying this file: Data\Textures\actors\character\slavetats\qayl_locking.json It may be coming from an old tatpack. This should be the working version: http://pastebin.com/F2xVfAaX @CoCo: Learning to hate aliases is the final part of your initiation. High Horthgar is now open to you. [edit] @kuatt: yeah, that's possible. There's at least three ways to get each item equipped: you can co-operate, refuse, or pretend to co-operate and then try and run. It only takes one route to be broken, alas.
badbat111 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 you could make it so the final villian is you doc make a character sort of like the final boss to a great mod
jfraser Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 you could make it so the final villian is you doc make a character sort of like the final boss to a great mod that's very SAO.
ltadams2247 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I got the CTD when the driver goes for a beer but I hear the fix (for now) is to open the letter in Whiterun. That did in fact work. So instead of bug reporting, may I just say that the dialog is superbly written. The back and forth is actually a lot of fun! The Dragonborn continuing to point out her plan to kill the dude is a nice touch especially when the tatoo magic kicks in. You can practically hear her rage over what her body is doing as opposed to what she would rather do. Great mod, can't wait see what happens next ;-)

DocClox Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 Keeping it brief still: I haven't got a definite Big Bad sorted out yet. Well, I have sort of, but it's a bit complicated. I will say you'll have to make a choice though.
