I wonder how development is going :)

I am sick and tired of people constantly asking how development is progressing.

That's MY job!

Hey, Doc, how's it coming? Any news? When will it be done? Are we there yet? When's dinner? Do you have that in blue?

;)  :P  :D

Honestly? I've not done a thing in the last two weeks.

Between funerals and pressure of work ... I think it safe to say I'm blowing the halloween deadline :(

What I might do is try throwing in a few more races. Short circuit the talky stuff that seems to take so much time and maybe leave Cursus in the winking skeever where you can get repeat races. Just a stopgap thing until I get time to do it properly.

That's going to give him a sudden case of slit-throat-itis in my game, but that's actually good. I like closure.

nothing quite as aggravating as a villain who can abuse the heroine all he wants and then gets away before you can do anything back

I must admit, I have absolutely no problem with the PC visiting bloody vengeance on Cursus.

Although in the long run, I do hope that at least some of you will choose not to do it. For one reason or another... :)

Hey DocClox, don't you wanna immortalize your name? Look how popular your quest is, and how appreciated your work gets.

Give us something new...  I bet if you start working on the mod again then 1 hour of work will go into 2 and maybe more :_)

The people are waiting for you.

I'd sooner immoralize my body and let my name look after itself ;)

But I'll see what I can do. The sticking point so far has been some big scenes with some fiddly animation and it's taken a long time to debug those suckers. And there's one bit of the animation I still can't get right.

The races, by contrast, should be fairly straight-forward. And I can do them without the backstory, at least for now.

It'll mean I'll probably have to bring Cursus back to life when the story part is ready. I guess this is what happens when you start immortalizing people :P

[edit]

I meant to say "I'd sooner immortalize my body". Although immoralizing it would definitely be my second choice :D

I would love to see something new here, but please don't rush a work of art!

As for immortalizing your body, well, that's easy... just treat your body as a temple, like I do.

It may well be one of those weird temples, mortared with the blood of innocents, where people do strange things to animals in the basement, but it's a temple nonetheless...  :D

So I assume your choice is settled then...

My biggest question, are there or will there be bad endings :)

Posted

That rather depends on what you'd consider to be "bad" :)

In my theory game is something that has "end of progress point". In vanilla Skyrim its death, then game reloads.

Most SexLab mods are just simulation. You can't really lose, you can only fail.

For example if you fail a multiple races you will get a permanent tattoo that will disable any ability for you to fight, and with that any ability to progress Skyrim main story.

Or maybe your character lose sanity... then npcs will lock you in a room or building where for simulation purposes you can walk, but npcs will come and have sex, and that will be a loop. You can't do anything else, so you have to reload.

This fatal thing probably has to happen after you fail multiple times, so it builds anticipation.

But it has to be done, so you have incentive NOT to lose the race.

Btw, I still haven't played it, I'm waiting for a little more content. I'm that afraid I'd be wanting more after I try it.

My character's mind being broken and turned into a pony girl/slave for the rest of her life is what I consider a good ending. :D

Mindbreaking, wether it's through a machine, magic, training, forced stimulation or in this case a cursed tattoo is my favorite subject.

I'm honestly not hoping for a quest where you just rain down vengeance and kill everyone. Vanilla skyrim already has enough stuff like that.

Your good ending is my worst nightmare. If my girl is forced to subjugate herself, she has to be able to turn the tables at some point.

This is the beauty of humankind - we're all the same and yet so different. At the same time! Fortunately mods can be made to go both directions. Happy endings for all!

Being able to turn things around is great, and it makes you feel more powerful. That is a good thing.

What I'm talking about is not having "Toggle God Mode ON". And knowing that you always wins (kinda), takes the fun out of it.

On the other hand you can have MCM option, if some unfortunate events are permanent.

dont kill him off i have a better idea after you have the current work sorted out take a break

you could use him to end it something like after you finnish the final blackmail thing or what ever the story goes through

you hunt him down in any of the pubs doesnt have to be in a city could be in a pub out in the middle of no where the pc walks upto him to confront him he says it wasnt his plan but he was forced into it since his wife and kids are being held prisinor

in some fort or something you would then have to hunt the family down and break them out killing the npc that worked for the blackmail faction free the family go back to him to get the true reward of gold or something

with the chat topic to pick to say i did enjoy it to do the run again

if wanted to that way if you wanted to extend the mod further you could do since the ones higher up the blackmail faction would re capture the family forcing him to be the giver again

i know my spellings shit

It wouldn't need to be an MCM toggle. Choices like this are very easily made part of the story. The choices you make and the dialogue you choose determines how well your character is able to stand up to the torture/brainwashing/whatever. Completely story-driven.

It's just a simple dialog branch...

1: Ooh, I was so enchanted by being caged, please master, use me!

2: That was fun. Do you have any more?

3: That was unpleasant. Please, let us never see each other again.

4: You bastard, I'm gonna gut you for what you did to me!

The disconnect here is the goal of player vs character.

The player might like to engage the character into a difficult situation, and, presumably, that the character might not be all that into.

Any permanent "damage" that is done to the character could serve as a "mark" in the story, but any real gameplay penalty and debuff that that player has to deal with could be a nuisance.

A traditional "bad end" sounds interesting, but it is quite literally a gamebreaker, it serves the end for the character, while the player might enjoy it once or twice, eventually it is something that they player will need to avoid for the sake of continuing the gameplay.

Now...if there's a way to connect aspects of Familiar Faces and Death Alternative...

I agree with all of that, but I don't think there is a disconnect. We're all talking about the character's perspective. To put it in broad terms apropos for these forums, I prefer to play a Dom while Windu prefers playing a Sub.

They would react in completely opposite ways to the situation in this mod. I don't want revenge because slavery would effectively end the game, I want revenge because my character is pissed she was forced into a degrading situation and wants to make the asshole who did it to pay. Windu's character would find the experience strangely enticing and want more of it.

The point being that both play styles are very easily incorporated into a single story without the need for toggles.

That rather depends on what you'd consider to be "bad" :)

Bad endings are where it ends because the person making the adventure gets fed up with the CK and abandons it! :P

I upvote this one, said to the point.

So all the mods that ended up having to be abandon by their creator is actually a bad end for each author?

This truly is, the darkest timeline :o

I always have one character, but with different branching paths using different save games.

For example I have a normal vanilla playthrough for my character Eliza and I call those saves c1, c2, c3 and so forth.

Then when I go and play a certain mod that could have a lasting effect on my character, like The Captured Dreams Shop, I make a seperate save games. Like Captured1, Captured2 and so forth. When I'm done with captured dreams, I go back to the last save from my normal playthrough. And If I ever feel like continuing the Captured Dreams playthrough (or there has been an update to Captured Dreams) I can always load the latest Captured save and continue where I left off.

This way I can easily play mods with 'bad' endings or lasting effects without actually affecting my day to day gameplay that much. Because I don't like having my character enslaved and broken, then go back to normal gameplay like nothing has ever happened, that doesn't make sense. By making these seperate save paths I can regard certain mods as spin offs to my Dragonborn's story.
