Hate the qunari? I'm 95% sure you're a liberal.

In the US I guess I would be a liberal democrat, but in my country I am more a conservative ...

Anyway, hate is not the real world .... I just, you know, want to wipe them off the Earth/Thedas because they greatly annoy me in every way possible. If that is racism, if that is hatred, if that is worth damnation by the likes of you, then yes:

*pompous fanfare* Yes, then I am guilty of all this! And the true Divine may call for a new Exalted March, and for once and for all may the Maker make all of Thedas see their false ways and embrace the truth that is the Tevinter Imperium and the Imperail Chantry!

Alright *cough* so much for that ... oh down with Elves too, Boo elves! Knife-ears go home!!!! (to their masters and clean the damn toilet!)

Wait, wait...you're against the Qunari but you're for the Tevinter Imperium?

What is this I don't even

you see, I love the Qunari and I look forward to playing a female Qunari mage.

edit: so it seems like you're too 100% a racist.

Everybody has a place in the Qun, no exceptions whatsover.

If it was up to me, I would have helped them take over Kirkwall, it would have been 1000% better off.

Well, in DAO there also were only two attractive females: Leliana and my own char, so they stay true to themselves I guess (nice to see that Morrigan got even uglier than before though, never got the hype about her anyway :D )

Woot, I thought Morrigan was attratctive lol. Specially with the Dragon Age Redisgned version or w/e it was

Yeah, Qunari, the horned pseudo-communists of Thedas. Everybody has a place in the Qun! Join us! now, or be against us! ... "But we don't like your whole attitude, Qunari, please go away!" No, we are the Qun and the best there is, accept our caste-system! Female warriors? Lets go and bake some cookies, woman, as the Qun commands! And if you happen to be a mage we will leash you and treat you even worse than your Chantry does!

Yeah, I don't like the Qunari,  I consider them too arrogant and blind to the shortcomings of their own ideology. Much like certain absolute governments they don't seem to like individualism that much, and caste-systems are always stupid and not for the benefit of the people. I never liked Sten in DAO, and DA2 made me even less like the Qun, and everytime it was my pleasure to eradicate their presence in Kirkwall. They were guests, damn it, and slaughtered the whole city? For a stupid book ... :@ Qunari, could you please just ... go away back to your islands instead of trying to bring world peace with your oppressing ideology?

And yeah, I like the Tevinter-Imperiums. I have a soft spot for degenerated old Empires. At least everybody knows what the Tevinter are up to ... and they built a lot of roads and civilized the known world, mind you! (I am like the guy in Life of Brian, who was thrown into a cell for years but admired the Romans all the way, great guys, those Romans! :D )

The females don't complain, neither do the mages. Remember that mage who chose to burn himself alive rather than insult the Qun? Guy's free to do whatever he wants with complete and absolute freedom, and he fucking kills himself to honor the doctrine that cut out his damn tongue. Just saying, it has to be really something to inspire this kind of loyalty, even from those who we see as the "oppressed".

I wish I was a historian so I could tell which society Bioware stole this idea from, because there's no way they came up with this themselves.

"Chaos63"

Qunari = Qun = socialism \ communism = strong community = everyone has a fixed place.

Tevinter = Romans = feudalism \ capitalism = exploitation of the people = doomed to fail.

reality = humanity = defective gene-mutagenic = self-destruction of humanity.

edit: defective Gen "avarice \ greed".

you wrote something about "self-immolation", but is an everyday thing. there are sects in which it is customary to yourself to "burn" to come to paradise.

in india it is even more dramatic! when a husband dies, his wife is having burned in the living state.

I call that brainwashing and fanatism, not necessarily inspiration ... the Qun is disgusting in my eyes. They don't complain neither in Northkorea, and would would willingly kill themselves in the thousands if their leaders tell them too, so not such a great argument. There are a lot of defectors already in the Qun, and I guess the playable Qunari in Inquisition won't be a "true" Qun either but an outcast...

The Qun is a very indoctrinated and inflexible society. Granted, Tevinter and feudal Thedas can be quite restrictive as societies too (one has slavery, the treating of minorities aka Elves is improvable, the Chantry as a very powerful religious institution has too much secular power etc). Hey, if it parallels Earth however the chances for an Age of Enlightment like in Europe aren't too bad (though that Mage-world war and Darkspawn and stuff might make things a bit more complicated ... :dodgy: )

But the Qun just lost it on me with their doctrines the first time my female Cousland talked a bit longer with Sten. The fixed roles for everybody? Nah, give me freedom, or give me death (well, not my death of course, the death of my oppressors is preferable). The events of DA2 only solidified my dislike of the Qun, and I think the way they brainwash and mutilate their poor mages is horrifying ... Bioware basically made them a crude mix of communism and religious fanatics, both of which I hate with passion in real life ... and Bioware won't make me like it in Theads, just because some parts of Tevinter and oppressed Elves are said to have joined them freely ... I don't see that happen on grand scales however ... and if the Qun is continuing to act that aggressive and that current crisis is over ... well, I see war and fire and Exalted Marches coming their way...if that stupid mage-war leaves enough stuff intact.

Anyway, this is getting a bit too political for the game-section, so I will leave it here, I think I made my point with a bit of satire and irony first, and now on a more serious note. Maybe I just don't like the Qunari because I sometimes got the feeling Bioware "wanted" me to like them somehow, but I fail to see any reason to it. Also I never like the factions movies, books or games want me to like it seems ... I still hope the cool Empire wins everytime I watch Return of the Jedi ...silly rebels and those annoying Ewoks, even worse than giant horned Commies... :P and whoever liked Hobbits, by the way?

We are brainwashed too, just by media instead of large men with massive swords and halberds. It may seem a bit like Stockholm syndrome, but to them it's as normal as our society is to us, and they don't understand how we can live the way we do no more than we can vice versa. Or...they would if they were real, and not a...video game species.

Nevermind.

  • 1 month later...

Well, I doubt the level-design will ever be as stupid and lazy as it was in DA2. That was really a disgrace, though I liked the game as a whole. I hope the story, the NPCS, the locations and quests are enthralling.

And I also hope it, despite being "Dark Fantasy" and quite a darker theme overall this time, that they don't deny the players to achieve some spark of hope in the end. Like, you know, stop the baddies without sacrificing yourself or your Love in the end...had enough of this crap with the last Bioware, I officially demand rainbows and unicorns from my RPGS from now on!  AND NOW FRIGGIN OPEN ENDINGS WITH A ONE MINUTE SLIDESHOW AND CREDITS ROLLING! make that end epic!
