volfin Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Hey guys. What did I miss? I'll be back on the mod on Sunday. If you are enjoying the new widget - please post some screenshots! Thx Just to show what I was talking about in a previous post, it's impossible to read in light or snowy areas: You can see the text Skyrim uses has a drop shadow on it to fight this problem, but your widget has none. So it either needs a drop shadow, or a darker background to differentiate it from light scenery.
chajapa Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Ask and ye shall receive... #1 is a bit of an odd situation (for the widget..... the kittens don't find this odd at all..) The text competing with the stairs. #2 is.... uh... I forget... #3 shows how wonderfully readable this is at night. Moral of the story... Don't fuck in the snow! Wait for a dungeon or at home when it's night time or inside..... the house.... inside the house... I like this new widget a lot. If some kind of back-shadowing can be implemented, it'd be off the charts awesome. Right now it's really, really good though. One of the things I like the BEST is that this appears to nearly negate the bottleneck of the message area when there's a lot going on. If I started a fuckfest in Whiterun's market area like this before (Random Sex on 30 second timer) it could sometimes take several minutes to scroll the buffer out after I quit Random Sex. AND.... after a few minutes the display got so far behind the action as to be just about useless. This "keeps up" extremely well. Fabulous job, Gooser. Truly outstanding.
chajapa Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 UPDATE ON MY TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS with Uniques, Tags, description wonkiness, etc GOOSER, this might be of interest to you #1) I needed the breastfeeding animations (tagged as foreplay) to work with descriptions so that they'd still make sense in JUGs #2) I had all kinds of wonkiness going on while trying to get LeitoKissing (also tagged as foreplay) to use the description files I wrote for it. #3) Other animation description, tags, etc (leitoCunnilingus, for example) For #1: Added tag Boobjob to both zjBreastfeeding and zjBreastfeedingVAR and have both listed as unique animations For #2 Added tag Vaginal For #3 Added tag Oral to leitoCunnilingus WHY? And what I found out about animations tagged as foreplay: An animation tagged as Foreplay AND with NO TAG depicting a W&T body part or act to reference, uses the ACTIVE name (in 1st and 2nd person this is the player character) as BOTH ACTIVE AND PRIMARY. This makes writing descriptions a bit tough. I tried using only pronouns and it was.... ok... but less than satisfying. As an example, by adding "Boobjob" to the breastfeeding animations makes them work as stand-alone animations, complete with orgasm. Why "Boobjob"? Because there didn't seem to be another tag that was relevant, and would not result in a pregnancy chance. If there IS another tag that would work, please clue me in. LeitoKissing gave me FITS... I tried removing the Foreplay tag and for some reason that caused Apropos to no longer USE the unique description files. In the log, it appears to be registering as unique, but when using it there's no message that it's unique and the description files weren't being used. If I left the tags alone, it was registered as unique and I saw a message to that effect when the animation started, but... my player character's name was being used for both ACTIVE and PRIMARY. This animation DOES have a bit of ... poke, poke... going on at the end as they're standing face to face, naked. So.... I added the tag, Vaginal. And here's what I discovered: LeitoKissing has 3 stages so it's a nice, short example to use. Description files: MaleActor_leitoKissing MaleActor_leitoKissing_Stage1 MaleActor_leitoKissing_Stage2 MaleActor_leitoKissing_Stage3 MaleActor_leitoKissing_Orgasm NOTICE how I have a Stage3 AND an Orgasm description file. This is important. When this animation is used as an actual foreplay animation (you have Foreplay toggled ON in SexLab's MCM) it will use the Stage3 file (no orgasm as you're moving on to more sex... and who doesn't appreciate more sex?) So... Stage1, Stage2, Stage3. When used as a stand-alone animation, it will NOT use the Stage3 file, but will instead use the Orgasm file. So... Stage1, Stage2, Orgasm. I did the same kind of thing with leitoCunnilingus. It has 5 stages. The last one pretty clearly depicting the young lady having an orgasm. So Stage1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and an Orgasm file. As a true foreplay animation, it uses Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. As a stand-alone act, it uses Stage1, 2, 3, 4, Orgasm (it does not use the Stage5 file) I had to add the tag, Oral, to accomplish this. For the Male player, this seems a relevant use of the tag. He's gaining oral experience. For the female player.... kind of a grey area. Her DIRECT experience is vaginal, but the act is accomplished orally. I just had to make a choice. Again, if another NON-body part tag would work (like, "Sex"?) I'd be interested to know about that. REGARDING AddTags and RemoveTags: Using RemoveTags for multiple tags does not work. Example: "RemoveTags": ["Foreplay, LeadIn"] will only remove Foreplay. Making a longer list... say... 4 or 5 tags to remove... will remove the first one encountered and none of the rest get removed. Note: You can apparently repair all of the stupid shit you've done to your tags, by resetting the SexLab Animations in SexLab's MCM. You can tab out of the game, edit the AnimationPatchUps file, save it, tab back into the game, rerun PatchUps and the changes will take effect. The AddTags: function works as expected with multiple tags. If you want to add, "Vaginal, Sex", it adds both.... as you'd expect. I think that's it. Apologies this is so long, but since I was posting so much about the problems I was having trying to get this to work, I figured I owe it to Gooser to post this as the problems were not really problems... they were opportunities. And the fact that leitoCunnilingus (and others) can be BOTH foreplay and stand-alone is like... a bonus! (having your "cake" and eating it too?) And the only real ISSUE that I see is that thing with RemoveTags not removing multiple tags. Which is probably a trivial fix for Gooser, considering how amazing this mod is. Oh.... and I've been working on making MaleActor files. I'm neither as fast, not as good at it as Decauk, but I'm trying. For a lot of them, Decauk already had a FemaleActor file and I'm trying to use what I can from those and just convert them to Male perspective. Sometimes that works well. Other times.... not so much.
pinky6225 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Some pics of it in use, a different colour for different sex acts would be good so sex act 1 gets one colour and then sex act 2 gets another So the one for serana would be one colour and the one for tah/frea would be another same thing here Dunno how much resource a widget takes but having a widget for PC/npc stuff on left and another on the right for npc/npc stuff might be better
Earen Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 "RemoveTags": ["Foreplay, LeadIn"] shouldn't it look like "RemoveTags": ["Foreplay", "LeadIn"] instead?
chajapa Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 "RemoveTags": ["Foreplay, LeadIn"] shouldn't it look like "RemoveTags": ["Foreplay", "LeadIn"] instead? Quite possibly. That's a combination I did not try, but it also explains why AddTags seems to work. I mean, you see the tags in debug, but if I do this: "AddTags": ["Vaginal, Sex"] it may be adding EXACTLY that... as a single tag (including the space between the comma and the "S") Come to think of it.... that would explain a couple of problems AND would explain why I'd see a tag string that looks like this: (Leito,Foreplay,Leadin,Vaginal, Sex) <---notice the space between the comma after Vaginal, but no spaces between the tags the animation had to begin with) ** EDIT ** Thank you, Earendil! That does seem to have corrected some things. The AnimationPatchups file may need to be corrected for this. There are only a couple of animations where multiple tags were affected, so... not terrible.

So... Stage1, Stage2, Stage3. When used as a stand-alone animation, it will NOT use the Stage3 file, but will instead use the Orgasm file. So... Stage1, Stage2, Orgasm. This is actually the reason certain animations have an 'extra' stage; the SexLab Pre-Sex Foreplay option. Any animation triggered for this will treat the orgasm stage as simply an extra stage, it has nothing to do with the Foreplay tag. I wrote extra stage files for any animation I planned on switching on in this option in SexLab's MCM, including some oral, handjob & footjob animations. The Foreplay tag simply designates animations that depict foreplay, nothing to do with the Pre-Sex Foreplay option. Generally speaking, I prefer to have it added to anything that doesn't have another 'main' tag; Vaginal, Oral, Anal, Handjob, Boobjob, Footjob or Fisting. The reason that the unique files don't work if you remove the Foreplay tag is because Apropos has been set up to only support specific animations. Way back when, only Vaginal, Anal, Oral & Boobjob were supported. Bit by bit, more and more tags have been supported, with Foreplay being the most recent. Basically, each animation has to have at least 1 tag that Apropos supports, or that animation will be ignored. I try to avoid adding Vaginal, Anal or Oral tags to animations simply because of W&T. Using a tag that doesn't trigger W&T, like Handjob, would probably be better for avoiding strange messages, like the female's ass starting to hurt after a passionate kiss... Good work on the testing though, issues with the {PRIMARY}/{ACTIVE} tags are great to know.
Derpakiin Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I have an idea or suggestion that might be interesting to think about, but not necessary. There is a mod called Floating Health Bars that adds health bars above npcs. From what I understand that it's a feature that SKSE allows and since you can display numbers on a health bar, I wonder if it's possible to also display text from apropos that refers to sex scenes with the affected individuals. It would be like Lydia having sex and you can see floating words above their heads referring to the dialogue between each other. If it's not technically possible, then it's no big deal, but it's an interesting thought nonetheless...

Probably not impossible - but those bars move when the actor moves ... can you imagine trying to read the text messages when the actor is moving about?
Guest Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 To be fair, when an actor is having sex, how much should they really be moving about? I'd rather have a fixed screen position, even still.
Toopsie Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Unfortunately I appear to be getting a CTD with the latest version of Apropos when my PC dies and I'm not particularly sure why. I've disabled and re-enabled several mods and narrowed it down to Apropos. Has anybody else had issues with this? The only other SexLab mods I'm running that do anything major is the latest version of Defeat and More Nasty Critters, everything else is superficial textures and fluff.
chajapa Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 My PC doesn't die. So I haven't had this issue. Defeat ALWAYS, always, always, gave me odd issues. Some folks run it no problem. But as soon as I removed it from all saves, things straightened out. Glitch? I put it back in... problems started again. Take it back out... problems gone. Sometimes, though, to be fair to the author of Defeat, I have to wonder if some issues are specific to certain combinations of hardware in someone's computer, or improperly install C libraries, or darn near anything. Something that doesn't really affect the majority of mods but that ONE MOD out there and it can be different ones for different people... that one mod finds the chink in your armor and you CTD. And you're left scratching your head. I used to work in IT at a university until I retired. We'd call those seemingly random crashes.... "Fucked up shit" "What happened?" "I think it FUS'ed" "Oh..... shit...." "Yeah...."

Toopsie Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I'll get back to you on that, it's decided it's now going to work and I can't replicate the crashes despite doing exactly what was causing it
MissyHoechlin Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 So i just installed the aprops beta thing and i did the test and it is in some language i cant read. Is there an english translation i can download?

Basically the "lorem ipsum"? ^.^ If so don't mistake that for the "language" of the mod. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum

I wondered if someone would notice the use of Lorem Ipsum filler text! Bravo!
chajapa Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I managed to get the player widget "stuck". It continued to display a message after all of the action was long over. I *think* it happened when I dropped to console or opened a menu of some kind while it was either displayed or ABOUT to be displayed. At any rate, simply starting another animation cleared it and it returned to normal operation. I can't seem to make it happen again so might have been just a one-off glitch or something VERY specific has to happen at a VERY specific point in the timing. Been trying for 2 hours to make it happen again with no luck. So.... I'm going to chaulk it up to gremlins.
Toopsie Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Hmm, going back to my CTDs upon player death I've come across something. It's not Apropos that appears to be the issue, but an alternate version of its dependency, SexLab Aroused Redux. I swapped back to the original SexLab Aroused and I haven't had any issues since. It's only with Redux that the crashes happen at all.

But let's face it. We're modding the hell out of a game. It's bound to have goofiness and CTD-on-death might be how it's manifesting on your machine

Maybe something significant changed between the two versions? Toopsie, what version of Sexlab are you using?

Guest Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 So, are you guys able to add your own animation tags? As in, you can have separate descriptions for say, Arrok Cowgirl and Leito Cowgirl? How do you that? I figured out how to change the overall descriptions of male/female, but not specific ones.
