zensunniwanderer Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 just starting a new play through and really really want this new version! Hope it comes out soon. Will I be able to update to the new version when its out with an existing character or will it be a new character thing? Thanks so much for all the hard work. Too much has changed... New saves will be required/supported. Apropos is now so integral to my enjoyment of sexlab that the features are well worth my starting a new game. I hope I have already said thank you for all your work, but just in case I haven't, thank you!
Guest Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Haven't stopped in in a while, and the new screenshots of the widget look awesome! Very surprised you used Draugr to show it off, nothing draws in the crowds like the word 'rotting' being used in erotica! Honestly though, considering how much stick some people give the ahegao and 'whore' messages, I'm surprised I don't receive more whining about the draugr stuff.

Its the fastest way for me to test Apropos against a few scenarios. I use HentaiCreatures spells to summon them. That way I don't have to leave the Live Another Life's starting prison cell and it's pretty fast.
Deedlit Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 ok already deleted my old saves, so no more regret lol, so now i can just start a new game soon, so while going play just xb1 till new apropos comes out, just a question will be released with the new sexlab (alpha by now) or will use the regular version 59c(if im right) ? , because what i read at alpha sexlab changed like hell from stable version.

Yes, It will be released with a dependency upon SexLab 1.59c. I simply have not had any time to play with 1.6 alpha at all.

Will I be able to update to the new version when its out with an existing character or will it be a new character thing? Thanks so much for all the hard work. Too much has changed... New saves will be required/supported. So upgrading from the old version 16-03-15 won't be possible, but... what about adding your new version to a save where an old version of Apropos was never installed? Like modhunter i am just about to start a new playthrough and am trying to decide if i should just wait for the new Apropos version to come out before starting it.. or starting my new game without the old version of Apropos, and just adding your new version in once you release it? i am very excited about your new version with words on a widget. i read very slow, so, how it is currently i often cannot read all the words before they are gone off the screen. So, it will be nice to be able to slow down the words some (hopefully?) with the widget option ^.^ Anyway, adding to a game that's already in progress, but hasn't had the old Apropos ever touching it, will work, yes?

sidfu Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 hate playing without it but to have a widget ill play iwthout it till your widget version comes out
Deviancy Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I was planning on adding CWO or whatever that Civil War mod is called on the Nexus anyways, and according to the modder, the mod has to be enabled from the very start of a new game for it to work. The question is, when will the update see the light of day? Should I keep playing my current game because I have plenty of time to get through it, or should I stop now because the update is due out at anytime?I think for now, just to be on the safe side, I'll finish up Assassin's Creed II. I avoided the AC games for awhile because I heard bad things about Uplay but I finally caved and I actually like Uplay better than Steam, its far less bloated.
sidfu Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 civil war overhaul is a little differnt deviancy as it compltely changes a part of the game thats why u have to have it on a fresh install. on this u probaly have to have it on a install that never had any of the appros at the most due to script changes.
shinji72 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I'm sure the upgrading (after cleaning with savetool or similar) will work. People are becoming too paranoid. You have to be careful when installing mods... but Skyrim is quite resilient after all. I have still the save of my first play through working. I was modding for the first time and I follow the advice I found on the internet. Something like "10 mods you can't miss". Mostly of them were already outdated... but I didn't know. So I got in notoriously game crashing mods like Warzones. I suppose I've a lot of errors spawning up in the papyrus but the save is still working fine.
Reesewow Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Usual modder logic probably applies here, if you want the best chance to not have problems with the new version it should be on a new character. If you want to use it on an old save it is up to you to properly clean the save before installing, and the author probably won't be able to help you if you have bugs caused by old script fragments hanging around and breaking the mod. 20+ cleanings later my save is still playable, but people's mileage may vary.
gooser Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Folks, I can see there is a lot of demand for getting the next Apropos release out. There is one big unfinished item that hasn't really seen exposure here on the forum, but has primarily occurred between Decauk and myself. We have conceived of a set of new file name schemes that will cover some areas that Apropos has poorly covered in the past. It also is followup to the F-F support that I have added. We still need some time to consider a larger set of requirements, and that will take some time. Plus, the default (Decauk) db will have to undergo a series of transformations - folder renames, file renames, and some additional tokens. So, at this point, I need to make a decision. Do I release this week with what I have, considering that the Apropos Widget works pretty well (but certainly not perfect), and wait to release the above in a subsequent release?
karlpaws Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I'd vote for a release of the mechanics, even with a partial or empty DB in case people wanted to get started on a new game playthrough. We could volunteer to rename some of the existing files and upload them, or at least what is not done yet. I've been editing a number of my own dialog files and though about uploading some of them, but they're not really distribution quality, as I have not been entirely consistant to a theme. I also need to re-think some of the synonym variables / tokens / whatevers because some of the words I've put in general vars don't work really in half of the situations I've had them. Planned on moving the specialty "pet" or nick names into their own token and just use that instead of the general variable in certain animation files.
Guest Jezzy Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I personally believe that the new version will give you feedback on the widget and on the new features of your mod. If you are open to receive constructive criticism, I would say you should do a version immediately. That way, you going to be able to demonstrate the progress of your project and set a new milestone in the development of this amazing mod. Thats my opinion and also i can't wait for a new version lol

Well, your mod so do what you feel is best, but my 2c would be that if the framework is ready (widget ect) then it is worthwhile to release it as-is and follow up with further adjustments/content when that is ready. It also wouldn't hurt to have people doing their best to break your new version in the meantime if there is anything breakable, so that if there are any bugfixes to do they could be reported in the meantime. As long as people's current databases will still somewhat work, my vote as a greedy end user goes for releasing the update.
originalwankster Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I agree that releasing now would at least let people try out what you've got so far for feedback/debugging.
Guest Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Not only will the new file-name scheme cover some areas that have not been supported in the past, but it will cover some areas that no one has ever asked for! And I mean ever.

chajapa Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 While I'd LOVE to have this and take it for a ride around the block... or around my follower... I think you're (Gooser and Decauk) the best judge of whether or not you can release what you have. If it's ONLY waiting for additional database files, but you have a set that will work for the CURRENT conditions and... maybe a few additional ones... then pack it up and toss it out as a test run and see what feedback you get on the mechanics. The PROBLEM I see coming... and I'm saying this as a newbie mod author... is that no matter how big or what color you make the letters in the warning/disclaimer... you're STILL going to get people saying it doesn't support this or that animation and can you make it so that it does. I'm in the process of creating a profile that's never seen Apropos before (it's like.... EVERYWHERE in my profiles and I have about 25 profiles!) In fact I just created my first character in it. NordFemale. Have to create NordMale, and then SuccubusFemale (cause that's the female race I normally use). And THEN Build ANOTHER profile based off that one to start adding in SexLab stuff. Takes me a while. 'Cause I have to do things like... make dinner!

DOOOOOOOO EEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTT!!!!!!!!! *ahem* I would say as long as the basic functionality is there, it can't hurt to let us have a go at it.
Deviancy Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 So, at this point, I need to make a decision. Do I release this week with what I have, considering that the Apropos Widget works pretty well (but certainly not perfect), and wait to release the above in a subsequent release? I'm in the middle on this one. If what you have now is the framework that requires the clean save, and the work that still needs to be done can be added without the need of a clean save, then by all means, release it. But if dialog is missing right now due to the new version, or if stuff that hasn't been added yet requires a clean save when its added, I wouldn't recommend releasing it.
gooser Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Here's an example of the file/folder changes (not finalized!): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c4bXo3-QZC56zumsvPoKSfc4yV6nfKKLxLaZTS8Y4M0/pubhtml It does not cover some additional tags to be added. Those are primarily to support F-F sex scenes, where it would be important to reflect both actor's arousal level. A partial list of new tags: WTVAGINAL_A (w&t vaginal tag for Active Female) WTANAL_A (w&T anal tag for Active Female) WTORAL_A ... FAROUSAL_A (female arousal, for active female) MAROUSAL_A (male arousal, for active male) Previously we only suppported WT and Arousal tags for the Primary actor. In order to pull these changes off, I need to make a bit of coding changes. Its not just database changes that are involved.
chajapa Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 When you're ready... I have a clean profile with 3 different characters out of Helgen. NordFemale, NordMale, and a Succubus race (female of course!) Now I can copy that to a new profile (maintaining the clean one as "clean") and add mods and start over. Thank The Nines for Mod Organizer! heheheh. I can't see how you could rush this out. It's a pretty major undertaking and no small amount of work (and TIME!). So..... it'll be ready when it's done. No worries.
