ZeX In-Game Sliders

View File

LooksMenu slider support for ZeX Skeleton body replacers (BodyTalk and Fusion Girl).

This is a replacement for the LooksMenu slider data files for BodyTalk and Fusion Girl from the old ZBG mod, with the knowledge and permission of its prior maintainer who had no desire to continue shouldering the support burden for it. File names from the original have been reused to make it clear you shouldn't install both ZBG and ZIGS together. It is safe to uninstall ZBG and install ZIGS within an existing save.

Unlike ZBG, this mod does not include any BodyGen configuration. Users who want to use LooksMenu's BodyGen feature can still create their own configs (see the LooksMenu mod page for instructions) or use a mod containing some (e.g. Random Overlay Framework).

Do not bother the skeleton or body replacer maintainers with issues related to LooksMenu sliders, but feel free to ask questions in the ZIGS support topic here on LL or ping me (vaultbait) in the ZeX Discord.

Many thanks to @ZaZ, @TheBottomhoodofSteel, and everyone else who has contributed to the success of the ZeX Skeleton and BodyTalk/Fusion Girl bodies. Your tireless efforts are appreciated!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why isn't the nude Fusion Girl body able to morph in game? There's a problem with the pre-built nude body trishape mesh included in Fusion Girl 1.89 (FusionGirl-0223.7z). You can work around it by selecting the Fusion Girl Nude body and Zero Sliders preset in BodySlide, enabling the "build morphs" checkbox and then clicking the Build button. Of course, make sure BodySlide is configured correctly (MO2 users need to tell it where to generate its output files since the defaults won't work for that mod manager).

1.0.0 (2024-06-12)

  • Initial public version forked from ZBG 1.3.
  • Removed all BodyGen configuration and associated plugins.
  • ESL-flagged the dummy plugin used to load the sliders so it won't take up an active slot, perfectly safe as it contains no forms anyway.
  • Fixed the hard tab field separators in the FusionGirl slider name English translations file, as they had been incorrectly replaced with spaces which prevented them from being looked up.
  • Switched translations files from UTF-8 encoding to UTF-16 LE BOM which also seemed to be preventing LooksMenu from loading them.
  • Cleaned up a record in the BodyTalk translations file which included a stray hard tab in the second field.
  • Cleaned up a record in the FusionGirl translations file which had a stray space character at its line end.
  • Added FOMOD metadata and a menu option to install MO2 metadata if desired.

Hey, just wanted to report a bug. So, I downloaded this mod cuz my body sliders where not working(sliders changed clothing but not the body), and at first it kinda worked, some clothed models would change their bodies as well as their clothing. However, the moment my character gets naked, it's as if the changes I made to the sliders weren't even there, the model just reverts back to a zeroed sliders version. Fortunately, it doesn't fully reset the changes I made to sliders, as when my character gets clothed, the model visibly changes.

This bug is really immersion-breaking, since on every sex scene, my character, who's supposed to be a bimbo, suddenly shifts into a twig of a character.

The bug is actually in the pre-built body mesh in the current Fusion Girl version. I've reported it a few times, I guess it may get corrected the next time there's a reason for a new release of FG.

And yes, the workaround is to choose the Fusion Girl Nude body in BodySlide, enable the "build morphs" checkbox, and click the Build button.

Edit: I've added this to the Frequently Asked Questions list in the second post, since I expect it may come up often in the future. Once there's a new FG release with it fixed, I can drop that question.

Known Bugs

  • I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get the BodtTalk_en.txt translation to match up to the slider name macros. It's effectively identical to how FusionGirl_en.txt is done, and I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Luckily, this is merely cosmetic so doesn't prevent the mod from being usable, and also it shouldn't be a regression since ZBG was behaving the same way.

It is not obvious, but pretty easy %)

Filename in \Data\Interface\Translations\ folder must match following pattern:

{ModFileName}_{language game setting}.txt

Language setting can be found in %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4.ini, see sLanguage in [General] section

It is pretty usual mistake - preapre a single "en" file with a translation. Files for all other languages just not provided.

Workaround for gamers - make a copy of the shipped file but set necessary language suffix(es), for example FusionGirl_Ru.txt, FusionGirl_Jp.txt, FusionGirl_Fr.txt, etc

Solution for mod maker - create a full set of files, for each language supported by the game, even if there is no translation exist. Just leave English text in these files.

Most complete languages list I've found:

Spoiler

Cn

De

En

Es

EsMx

Fr

Hu

It

Ja

Pl

PtBr

Ru

Not sure about Korean or Ukraine. I saw translations to these languages, but I suppose they just reuse existing language

I guess mod makers may think that game supports the idea of the "default language", but it doesn't.

It looks like MCM implements the idea of the "default language" by itself, but I didn't dig it deep enough to say definitely.

I had tried matching the translations filenames to the plugin before, but at that point there were some other errors and encoding issues with the files I got from ZBG which probably gave me the impression it wasn't working. I just tested again and that seems to be the missing piece. The difference was that the Fusion Girl translations filename matched the plugin shipped by FG, while the BT translations filename didn't match any installed plugin (apparently BodyTalk3 had a plugin by that name once upon a time but it was deemed unnecessary and removed).

New version on the way, I'm merging the two translations files into a single one named to match the dummy plugin from ZIGS, which seems to work now that I've tested it with the rest of my earlier fixes in place.

Thanks @Dlinny_Lag!

What mod manager are you using? If it's MO2, you have to make sure BodySlide is configured correctly to write its files to the location MO2 expects. I don't use MO2 so am unsure of the specifics, but instructions on configuring BodySlide should be easy enough to find.

I use Vortex, and my bodyslide is configured to write to here:

I use Vortex too, and if I build the FG nude body in BodySlide like you've done in your screenshot then I'm able to use in-game LooksMenu sliders and apply presets with different body shapes in LooksMenu, no problem.

Are your clothes also made for FG and built to the same (zero sliders) preset in BodySlide?

1.0.1 (2024-06-17)

  • Merged and renamed the slider name translations files into a single file matching the name of the dummy plugin, finally fixing lookups for the BodyTalk3 slider names.

You do it in BodySlide, not Outfit Studio, but regardless let's start over and confirm the details of the issue you're reporting... when you say that you adjusted sliders for your clothes and that worked but they didn't apply to the nude body, are you talking about in-game LooksMenu interface sliders, or out-of-game BodySlide sliders?

Okay, so in-game naked you pull up the LooksMenu interface, go to body, custom and move, say, the BodyFat slider up and down but your body doesn't get fatter and thinner? But doing the same thing with clothes on just works?

Make sure you have a Data\Meshes\Actors\Character\CharacterAssets\FemaleBody.tri file and that the "date modified" listed in your file manager for it is from the time you rebuilt the nude body in BodySlide.

Edit: I also see from your earlier BodySlide screenshot that you've configured it to write to Vortex's mod folder rather than your actual game data. Is that intentional?

Changed the output path to the one you said, built it again, but both .nif and .tri files' "date modified" tag continue the same.

Yeah, I tried to manually fix the whole sliders problem before you released this mod. Changed the outptut path to a mod folder, didn't work tho, so I just left it.

Do you use a mod that makes your character unique?
