Gristle Posted November 20, 2023 Author Posted November 20, 2023 I just updated a revised version of the mod - v0.91b. This should address the issues reported to date. If you completed the first version of the mod (Parts I and II) and dismissed Balazar, you can get him back by obtaining a summon spell from a Mythic Dawn member in Dawnstar. However, continuing the quest in this manner is untested. You won't get some adjustments to the Balazar actors. I think all the scripts will update, but you can check that by traveling in and out of cities and towns. If Balazar changes forms appropriately, then they're probably fine. Better would be to load a save before the end of Part II (the end of the first version of the mod), so you can start Part III as intended. However, this will also not update all changes to the Balazar actors. So, best would be a new save. Any reports on issues with continuing the mod would be appreciated. The good news is that I have set it up so that future quest extensions can be added on existing saves. Also, the ZaZ permissions allow me to use the ZaZ resources with credit, so I have included a collar asset. ZaZ not required. If you have ZaZ, your mod manager will report a conflict with ZaZ because of the identical assets. I would let ZaZ overwrite. Please let me know if you have any mesh or texture issues with the collar. Finally, this version does introduce some new gameplay elements, but it is not a quest extension. The "Part III" that this mod creates is a framework for quest extensions.

So far questing with Balazar is going well; we'll see how it goes when I visit a city. I like that the girl from the mines thinks Balazar is just an impressive warrior, works well with my npc overhaul that removed horns from the dremoras. So much potential here! I hope you stay interested and keep adding little bits to this mod (like the author did with Troubles of Heroine). Would love to see Balazar contributing to the Molag Bal, Hermaeous Mora and Sanguine quests in some way. He's from Oblivion so thinking they all know each other? But maybe that's asking too much; I'm just such a fan of dremora companions is all.

I'll save 0.91b for my next playthrough as I'd like to see the changes. Suggestion for a future version: after completing the final part of the quest, make the temple a player home, or even have Balazaar tell the player that he's making the old worshiper temple his home and invite the player to stay whenever they'd like with the same option to have Balazaar continue as a follower.

Not a lot of new content in this version, but it sets up the next quests so they won't have issues starting mid-game and it does add some new gameplay elements, like Balazar-guard fights, punishments, expanded sex options with Balazar, and the ability to solicit sex from dogs and horses. It looks like an adventure in Riften will be next. The next set of quests will be initiated with the Jarls, but one could easily involve another competing (or cooperating) daedric faction. Also, eventually he'll have an option to change into an outfit less conspicuous than his daedric armor. Also, I hope to use new NPCs like the new Mythic Dawn woman and the freed woman captive in later adventures. 2

Sounds good. Making the temple a player home is fine and easy enough, but it's a bit inconvenient -- a long walk out through the ruins and the mine. I suppose I could enable fast travel from the location, but that's a bit of a cheat. Also, Balazar probably has grander visions, like taking over one of the Jarl's thrones as his own.

It's a ZaZ asset so I'm not 100% certain if I set it up right (i.e., so it works without ZaZ). I tried to disable ZaZ in my game to test, but my Skyrim didn't like that -- my saves would no longer load once I removed ZaZ (it's a dependency of a lot of my mods). The new game, from the introduction to the start of the third task, ran on my computer without any problems. I'm just a player. I have no modding experience. I look forward to the next step. rilieAP Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Wanted to drop in and say the quest is pretty awesome, done through part 2. So far I've had just 1 issue. I can't lay down in a bed and sleep, it's possibly conflicting with the sleep mod "Go To Bed". I went back and tested before the quest and right when I start it. I went to my house in Riften and sleep with no issues. I started the quest in the temple and went back to the house and when I activate the bed to sleep, I lay down then get right back up. Zero chance to actually sleep. Could be the mod mentioned or the sleep animations, but regardless at least for me it breaks sleeping. I finished part 2, asked to pause to get the collar off and still can't sleep. Let me know if there is anything you need from me to debug.

In the current version, there's dialogue (after the end of the second part of the quest) to ask Balazar to stay in dog form (but he will still change form from time to time as needed for the quest going forward).

Yes, going to play around with it to see if I can isolate which of the literally thousands of mods it is. Since it's sleep related I'm guessing that mod or the animations, but really not 100% sure yet. I might not get it figured out, but will keep you informed as to what I find. Edit - That didn't take long, it's Go to Bed. With the mod off you no longer do an animation to get into bed and it allows you to just non-interactively sleep like vanilla. So more testing it's just an issue so on my current save game. which I had cleaned when upgrading to .91b. I started a new game(with Go to Bed enabled) in Riften, consoled some gold and rented a bed. I was able to sleep and then start the quest, go back to the bed and still sleep. Could just be something weird with upgrading from the previous version mid-game or an artifact of something else in my save that has hundreds of hours. I'll just keep Go to Bed off on that save and keep playing. Once again great mod, probably the smoothest working adult quest mod I've ever played in FO4 or Skyrim. Never updated in the middle though, since I started a new clean starts every time. 1

That's the end of this version as far as the quest goes. But you will be able to update the next version mid game and play each Jarl quest as they get added. 2

One is that Balazar is already changing form based on locations, time of day, quest stages and other mod events). He will soon also be changing outfits based on locations, quest stages and other mod events. Throwing in support for another form switch on top of all that might make my head explode. So, for that reason and to more easily address the dialogue and SexLab animation changes that would be needed, adding support for a male player would best be done, as you note, in a different altered version of the mod. That's fine, but then a separate version means four versions to support (including the LE/SE variants). The next is that there's no succubus model in vanilla Skyrim, so I'm not sure how to create a female version of Balazar. Is there a mod with wearable horns?

As of this moment, I have not seen a voice for Dremor in xVASynth. In this case, you would have to give him a different voice than the dremora.
