I cannot reproduce your issue. Unless you're using a custom third party armbinder in which case we can't help you. If it is a DDi or DDx armbinder, then you have an issue on your end. Please disable all your mods (not just esps, their folders too) except core DD modules and their requirements and start a new game.

 

Your ZAP version is irrelevant. It is no longer a dependency and should have no effect on DD.

Devious Deviants.esp was removed from DD 4.0 for a reason. Please remove it.

Only FNIS 7.0 is supported. Please make sure you're using up to date FNIS (and up to date XPMSE)

Please run Bodyslide properly. Tutorials are widely available.

Also, a bit of a complaint concerning the past few versions in the spoiler below:

  • The mod has been completely disregarding itself as a standalone mod for users recently, and instead turning its attention towards serving as a framework for modders, and modders only. Why can't it be both as it usually always has been?
  • The newer expansion items (hobble dress, heretic items, mittens, etc) never had crafting recipes created for them, and people who asked for them were just told to spawn them with the console, or use a mod that uses them.
  • Why was the Devious Deviants plugin completely dumped (due to supposed "buggyness"), rather than fixed? Some users installed DDi for the sole purpose of playing through those few quests. Couldn't the plugin be fixed and added as an optional download at the very least? (The scripts for these quests are still in the mod's files by the way as well as being referenced in the MCM, in case you are insistent on removing it completely)
  • There is also a lot less modifiable settings for the user to customize in the MCM compared to 3.3b, and again favoring mod authors only. I'm all for allowing mod authors to specify the difficulty for their devices, nothing wrong with that. The problem lies with taking away said customization from users who had it previously. A good example of this is the "Destroy Key" setting. Why was this removed entirely and only usable by mod authors now? I appreciate the inclusion of the overall difficulty setting, but some of these settings which were standard in some people's games are now completely gone.

A way to fix the forced device difficulty would be to allow users and mod authors to force a specific setting:

 

Users should have all the available device difficulty settings in the MCM, and be able to change them from "Use Device Difficulty" to their own preference, such as the "Destroy Key" functionality, which will override ALL devices globally per the user's setting for the sake of simplicity.

 

And to prevent a mod author's mod from breaking, such as with quest items which NEED to have custom settings no matter what, they should be able to set a bool or keyword, deciding whether or not to allow the user's preferred setting. So a quest item would be unmodifiable no matter what (true), and less important devices will be modifiable as per the user's preference (false).

 

 

I understand you'd like to expand the mod's functionalities and functions for easier and more complex mods, I'm all up for it. But please don't take away what users often liked about the mod in the process. See if you can find a compromise to satisfy either person, or at least explain why it wouldn't be possible.

Most things seem to work fine: gags, hobble dresses, ball & chain. But the restraints (yoke, armbinder, handcuffs) do not work:

- No offset animation is applied, player remains in the default pose

- When equipping, the message: "you cannot equip that with your hands tied" or something similar is shown

- Unlocking (with the correct key) results in all controles being disabled, cannot move or open inventory, however the MCM menu and loading/saving still works

EDIT: Nevermind, seems NMM didn't install everything correctly (this happened to me before). I manually expanded the zip files into the data folder. Now the animations work (and I'm loving the new oens! :smile: )

If anyone is having similar problems, please verify that your mod manager installed all the files before reporting issues.

 

I only use MO so I cannot be much help with NMM troubleshooting.

Yes I pretty much have stated it wasn't the fault of this mod but something on my end, was hoping someone had similar experience and could point me into what to look for. The only custom restraints I have is from CD and DCL. I currently have the older DD installed, I had v4 and issue was still there and reverted back hoping that would solve it which is why devious deviants.esp is showing. I knew ZAP was irrelevant but was being polite to the person who suggested it. I do use FNIS 7.0 xxl . My skeleton is latest XPMSE on LL. I will uninstall dd3.3 and reinstall DD 4.0, rerun FNIS. OBTW I use the uunp special body and uunp special hands and feet in bodyslide if that is relevant.

A question about DDi items and other mods:

My mod (Home Sweet Home) manages equiped items for certain NPCs. At times it will attempt to "reset" the worn items by doing an unequipall on the NPC, then equiping whatever items they were wearing before. Those items are stored in a list obatined earlier by examining the equipped item in each body slot.

 

This works fine for any item except DD items: the NPC will act as if wearing the item (have the appropriate offset idle), but the item itself does not appear on them. I guess this is due to the DD way of handling thigns with separate rendered and script objects for each item.  My question is: how do I correctly handle DD objects in my mod?

- How to detect if an item requires special handling? (the keyword zad_lockable appears to be the right clue for this)

- Special care required to unequip said items, or is unequipall ok, given the fact that we later intend to re-equip these items?

- How to equip the DD item, given the fact that we only know the item which appeared in their body slot earlier (we don't know the corresponding other object)?

Not caused by DDi. Some third party mod has a typo in its scripts, it should be zad_DeviousHeavyBondage.

Thanks.  I just searched my Mod install folder "zad_" And that specific mention didn't show up.  I think i might be missing the mod it's from,  Any idea as to which mod it is from?

Development triage. Low priority aspects are pushed back when we are working on more pressing/important/core issues.

Low priority things are only worked on while ( GetPriorityIssue(high) == none && GetFreeCoder() != none )

   That's fine, I just thought having a Resource that a modder could count on, would be good idea, but I guess if thing's have to change, its Okay if some mods get crushed..

 

It was just and Idea, I mean you could inform people that you no longer support the older version, but it is available for those few ( I am sure they are very few ) mods that might need it, Buy hey! I understand, no need to fret about people that are no longer here, or there mods.

Thank you, we'll look into the dirty edits. We did recently make some edits to idle behaviours so it's possible we triggered the idle editor bug. It should be harmless so this won't require an immediate hotfix.

 

Device difficulty only affects generic devices by default. Special and quest devices (tagged with zad_BlockGeneric or zad_QuestItem) should be unaffected unless the author specifically sets the AllowDifficultyModifier property to true.

 

So it is entirely up to Marie whether and which of her devices are subject to the difficulty setting.

An error has occured with Devious Devices.  LookupDeviceType [Keywprd<zad_DeviousHeavyBondae (0E05226C)>]

I encountered that as well and it was caused by SLIF, which reverts zadLibs.pex back to the old version.

 

If you have SLIF, you'll need to disable the compatibility patch until it gets updated.

I wouldn't say they're crushed n_n MOST of custom devices and DD-related quests should continue to function as they always have. We did our best to maintain backwards-compatibility and even took care to provide redirects for deprecated functions wherever we could.

 

The only custom devices that are unavoidably in trouble are heavy restraints (armbinder and yoke derivatives) because their very specific and overcomplicated infrastructure had to be completely torn down and their links to it removed to make them function under the new device code.

The bookshelf and key are actually part of DDi, not deviants ^^

 

And yes the hooks are still present because we do hope to eventually rework both crafting and the quests. Although we're not sure what form the reworks will take just yet. We may end up fully separating both of them from DDi and releasing as their own mods. Or we may not.

 

In any case Devious Deviants is currently on hiatus and crafting does not encompass any of the new devices.

That wasn't my intention, but even if I did ruin your mood, you should've said this earlier instead of now, as I had no way of knowing whether you were being serious or not.

Just be aware that it probably won't be the end of it, considering people will no doubt notice that certain features they were using are missing (Devious Deviants already being one of them), especially now that 4.0 is the main version.

 

In any case, just forget what I said, considering you've already had drama discussing this in depth previously.

While it may have not been your intention, it is worth reminding everyone that changes made with this update have been many months and who knows how many man-hours of effort in the making.  Conversations about the pros and cons of decisions that had to be made about the framework have happened repeatedly, often within full view of the community (the fully available dev versions and the public dev thread).  Basically, a lot of these types of "why did you do this" questions have been asked and answered already.

 

As DD 4.0 is now fully released, I'd say now is a great time for people to make suggestions as to how they would like to see the mod family develop (both from a user and modder perspective) with 4.0 as the new starting point.  We've already heard about some of the plans for 4.1, so this definitely doesn't seem like the stopping point for development.

Well what does DDI 4.0 have going for it moving forward?

 

DDI is just the framework.

 

I haven't seen any significant development in DD related mods for some time.

 

Back when it was 2.0 we had a working "Club" called Captured Dreams, it actually worked, you could do quests and get items removed and could do some light sub stuff.

 

DDI 2.0 had working animations.

 

We have never really had a decent slave system that didn't become boring in 15 minutes of play and I'll tell you what we don't actually play Skyrim to have our entire play time dominated by a singular mod.  A lot of us don't spend weeks of time putting mods into our game to just play slave doll doing the same tasks over and over again indefinitely forever every time we load up Skyrim.
