I'm not as old as some of you, but I do remember watching this live on TV.

For a brief moment in time, humanity had done something extraordinary, then all the bullshit started up again.

LMAO ain't we all. but I have seen most of this stuff in action at one point or another and what really makes me laugh is when young people (well anyone younger then me) complains about there video card fan being too noisy. they have no idea what noise is in comparison to these dinosaurs. Have to wear ear plugs just to be around them for a few hours.  :D

I participated in a summer education camp (for lack of a better term ) at the local university when I was between 7th and 8th grade (in 83 or 84). A buddy of mine and I wrote a program that printed Def Leppard's album cover for Pyromania on gigantic computer paper. Using an IBM Teletype of all things. Those things sounded like machine guns in a closed room, especially when there were a couple dozen of them. :o

But back on topic, yesterday and today have both been some spudzy days for the ol' Nexus. Heck, it's taking forever just to get hooked up to a server.

"This file is currently being scanned for viruses, it should be available for download in a few minutes."

It was uploaded six hours ago, dude.

What the flying fuck?

It's only 12mb.

The thing about that is these files are in queue mode. The virus scan site has to go in order scanning. This means any files sent for a scan from any site that uses this VirusTool. There could be 100 files ahead of any mod files from Nexus. At least that's my understanding from reading a post Bben made. So, the size of the file is only half of the problem. Who knows the large files sent by other websites. That's why I mentioned a while back that I don't know if this was a good idea or not.

At this point, I've lost interest in downloading much at all until all this shit gets situated. Unless it's something out of this world. It's only traced til I feel in the mood to download mods again.

It's almost as if you expect the Nexus servers to work or something... :L

I just realized they're using a website to do it for them and not licensed software to do it instead.

D0rky always knows to pull out all the stops and cheap out no matter what.

Yeah, it's a free service provided with the exception that D0 promoted them. It's a business trade.

It's really sad that Nexus had to go this deep to use a virus protection to secure files being hosted by them. That's what they get for being a bunch of twits with their power driven force of action. They have far too many enemies to the point that Nexus is a target to pick on. It's only a matter of time when they get hit by another ddos.

Normally I'd say yes, but honestly it's the Nexus; don't get your hopes up and you'll never be disappointed.

Also, yeah, how else would he pay for the holidays he brags about in what seems like every other announcement :P

Is it just me or is today an especially bad day? 20mb just took 10 minutes give or take to download.

There another sale or something?

It had a list of servers before and you chose the one that benefited you. The problem was that people kept picking the busiest servers instead of the servers that weren't busy. I think it was 20 servers to choose from. This was much easier because it allowed you to pick one, whereas the change would pick it for you and throw you in a server that wasn't busy. It fucked things up because it would randomly throw more people in that server and then you got this "server error" thing popping up every single time you tried to download a file off Nexus. I haven't downloaded anything these past days so I haven't seen how the revert has been. I guess it was reverted back because a second wave of Steam Sales is going on.

I mentioned a while back during the first wave of blasphemy that modders should be abusing mirror links and that Nexus should some how implement a system where mirror links are recognized so that in case people cared to endorse the mod Nexus could somehow detect it this way. Or even the download count. This unique download they implemented years back was something that never made sense to me. download is a freakin download.

You can thank Dezdimona and his fucked up and fooled fan base for that.  Back in the Oblivion days he had his little white knights and dupes padding Montana's ONE mod with multiple downloads to bump it to the most viewed/most downloaded list.  It was just one more way for Dezdimona to get his bullshit fake female persona validated on-line.  He didn't care who got fucked and two good mods put out by MunkeyFinger and Osimodius got bumped off of the Mod of the Month thing Nexus had then.  And Montana knew about it and didn't care.  All for the sake of ego and Nexus kudos.  :dodgy:   ASS.

Since the Nexus again has it set up so you choose your own server it seems a bit faster. It's been a real dog lately. I think the auto server thing was broken.

Mr. Potatohead should be the official Nexus mascot.  Instead of funny hats and mustaches they could stick boards and drives on him.  Make him look like a little spud Terminator.  "I'll be back baked."

Being baked, another thing Dark0ne spends more time doing that's not optimising his servers and taking vacations.

I think it is a tempory fix to test the new "server thing"..

According to the article it is only going to be up for a short time.

Many people are (wrongly) blaming the new download system we added to the site back in the middle of June, which worked fine up until the Steam sales made everything go a bit crazy. To enable us to fully discount this update as a factor for those of you who are getting slow downloads and downloading issues we've re-enabled the old file server selection download method which we'll likely keep up and running until tomorrow morning for our own piece of mind. This will enable us to monitor the situation and conclude whether it's having any factor on the downloading issues.

Potatoes aren't cheap! Are you mad? Look at the condition of the Nexus.

If potatoes were cheap D0rky would have enough money to spare so he could take a vacation at the Grand Canyon!

Even more, he'd have enough money to happily take pictures of his feet while at the Grand Canyon and post them on the Site News!

But potatoes are not cheap so he can't do that!

...oh wait...

Geesh, I am downloading a file from Nexus now and it's reading 60kb/s. :( But at the same time I downloading a file from here and had a full megabit download speed. That Nexus file will probably take at least another hour and a half. And I picked the least busy server after the first one I picked crapped itself.
