Shinratsuna Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 It is getting annoying to say the least, I get stuck with the server is down, or they have errors every few days.
Guest Omega1084 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I still don't like that you guys are insulting potatoes. They can easily run GLaDOS. The Nexus is just badly configured and in dire need of real maintenance, not just a quasi-clever splash page.
Kendo 2 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 The moral crusades of the morally self righteous.....................DUCK SHIT!!!!! you want to know how far back shit posting over ignorant things goes? Do the words DIAL UP mean anything to you? even BBS forums had moral loosers crusading about every damn thing. adult content has been going on even from the days of "QBasic" and DOS. it sure isn't anything new. A pixil dick standing straight up, a pixil hand wrapped around it, move your joy stick up and down to jerk it off. seen it's fair share of shit posting by sexually insecure punchbowl turds. it isn't new and it isn't going to stop any time soon. it's the human condition. But you have to remember who we're dealing with now; internet warrior types born after 1980, Occupy Wallstreet dumbasses who are pissed they can't get a job (because they listened to their Liberal profesors and now they have a degree in Primitive Cultures and Interpretive Dance and are unemployable), the pierced and tattooed counter guy at Starbucks who thinks he's superior, etc. The world used to not be this way and we're all worse off for it.
Guest Mogie56 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 well I wasn't going to point a finger at any one in particular, I was only pointing out that it is nothing new. but nevertheless it is still the same "type" of person, doesn't really matter what time frame they come from.
Kendo 2 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 well I wasn't going to point a finger at any one in particular, I was only pointing out that it is nothing new. but nevertheless it is still the same "type" of person, doesn't really matter what time frame they come from. Yeah, the 1980's kids are the most recent and prolific 'rebel-without-a-clue' types. That's why I fingered them. But there's always been the emotionally and socially disenfranchised who just don't get it or care to get it, for whatever reason. One thing for sure, society is more permissive towards these social misfits than before. Having fucked-up opinions and blasting anyone who doesn't agree is not new. The only 'new' is the internet that allows these coachroaches to mass in one spot. Anyway, I'm done with this line of thought since some random type will take what I posted personally, ignore the obvious truth and attack-quote me just to prove how wrong and stupid I am and how right and clever they are...all the while proving my point. Too bad I'll never give their bullshit opinion any weight. EDIT: And I guess Nexus servers are doing what they do best... Here at Lover's Lab; 1184 users are online (in the past 10 minutes). That was a few seconds ago.
GrimReaper Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 One thing for sure, society is more permissive towards these social misfits than before. Having fucked-up opinions and blasting anyone who doesn't agree is not new. Isn't that what you do, though? Correct me if I'm wrong but dwelling upon something as meaningless as a mere websites for so long and dedicating a lot of time and energy is not something most people would define as normal. All I ever see from you is condeming everyone that doesn't agree with you. Personally, I want to believe LL is a website of personal freedom and independence. That's why I like it here. That's why many people hate LL - they may want freedom for themselves, but not for others. However, in certain places, even here on LL, you'll only find spite and bile. Things that make the nexus a shitty community as well, among other things. I don't want to see LL going down the road that has been carved by so many before.
Arizona_Steve Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I've noticed that the addition of new mods seems to have slowed to a trickle recently, with there being some days where no new mods at all are added. Are people moving onto other games?
myuhinny Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Probably more like they can't upload them because nexus keeps taking a shit and spewing out different types of errors all of the time and some might be jumping ship and going to one that doesn't look like it's about to sink.
myuhinny Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Someone farted again the servers just couldn't take it anymore and left.
iron_jack Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I know they were having issues with some shady types stealing people's accounts and uploading malware, even replacing some of the more popular mods (SkyUI for instance) with infected executables. It even got one of their staff members/mods, evidently. Might have something to do with it, I guess.
GrimReaper Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I've noticed that the addition of new mods seems to have slowed to a trickle recently, with there being some days where no new mods at all are added. Are people moving onto other games? The addition of mods comes and goes in waves, i have no idea why but it does. The fact the servers aren't working adds to the issue as well. If I had to take a guess: - Quite a few modders left the nexus or got kicked out. They use their own personal blogs now to publish their mods, halofarm should be the most known example. - As you said, the instabilities that have plagued the nexus for a long time now. Though I think that merely slows things down and doesn't really prevent anyone from uploading their mods. - Nexus has quite a few restrictions on what you are allowed to upload and what you aren't allowed to upload, scaring many modders who don't speak english very well away. - Steam workshop. - Not only new mods get published, sometimes old ones get updated. But you won't see them on the fronpage or in the recent files section. Chronotrigger for example made a big update for his armor replacer, featuring full HDT support and all that. The problem is you need to know this mod exists in the first place because he uploaded the first version quite some time ago, so no frontpage or news about the mod being updated. - Mods take some time to develop. Especially the good ones. I mean, nobody wants to see another "dremore playable race", "have an elven sword with inflated stats" or any other that-took-2-minutes-in-the-CK-to-whip-together-mod, right? It's hard to keep track of all the mods that get released because the modding scene is all over the place now.
Shinratsuna Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I thought I was going to actually get to use the Nexus, it seems as though that is not happening all day today.
Guest Omega1084 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Q) Why do you perform "maintenance" at the worst possible time? A) Often because we have to, and because 5 minutes of maintenance mode is better than 3 hours of down-time without maintenance mode. No. It isn't. At least it wouldn't be if you were actually fucking doing something to help the situation instead of praying to your based god for the servers to stop shouting curses at people that walk by.
Rayblue Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 http://www.nexusmods.com/maintenance.html?cc=1 Fortunately I picked up my favorite mods before this.
Kendo 2 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Q) Why do you perform "maintenance" at the worst possible time? A) Often because we have to are forced to, and because 5 minutes of maintenance mode is better than 3 hours of down-time without maintenance mode. because I'm a cheap bastard and had rather spend the funds generated by Nexus on anything BUT truly fixing the server issue.

Like seriously, I can't tell if new mods are not coming or if the statues are just making it hard for them to shine.
Pixie-K Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Think of the Internet as a sentient being. An all knowing, and not-knowing mass of intellect. Every so often, Le Internet eats some bad data that didn't agree with it, and lets out a massive fart. This fart slowly travels across the web, and any poor server unlucky enough to get a whiff, gets knocked out. The nexus, being as large as it is, makes a large target for Internet Farts. Therefore, The Nexus and it's weak constitution are constantly getting knocked out.
Guest Omega1084 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 The Nexus spent too much time adding points to Strength and didn't bother for other stats, now the weaknesses of a Strength-only build are starting to show. Like its lack of Intelligence, Constitution, and Vitality.
Shinratsuna Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 It seems as though they do not wan't to fix the actual issue to me, I have been waiting for awhile now. Thought it came up earlier, then it wen't back down or something and I am yet again waiting.

It seems as though they do not wan't to fix the actual issue to me, I have been waiting for awhile now. Thought it came up earlier, then it wen't back down or something and I am yet again waiting. So what is it. Are they moneygrabbing Bastards or do they not care if the Servers are up or not. Only one bitchy crazyness works.
GrimReaper Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 The issue is that the nexus is still a hobby project yet has to perform like a professional file hoster. It's like building a skyscraper on top of a shanty town. You can be sure of one thing, though. The person that wants the site up and running the most is the owner, because a site that's offline isn't generating any money.
