It was a really eye opener when I seen he ran 5 ... count them 5 separate downloads at a total of more than 600kbs when I could barely get one download to start much less download... on the very same network ( at his house). At my house.. the very same thing. He can storm through 3, 4, or 5 big downloads when I can barely get one to work.. Needless to say he is quite pleased with his service. ... I am getting quite pissed with mine. .. Really. Dark One. I understand perhaps limiting the bandwidth,... sure. Perhaps allowing one download at a time ( in a que) sure for free. Fine. It would take much more time to download a lot of mods but I can understand it. Other sites do the same. But crippling the free service.. Really? Dark One you really need to get that running to some reasonable level.

 

 

It's about principle, not usefulness. No matter how faster(uncapped) premium servers might be, getting it supports pay4download of unofficial game modifications, SOMEBODY ELSE'S game modifications, which in itself should realistically be a crime.

I sincirely hope nobody on LL has this, this shit promotes blatant racketeering up to the point where we have no choice but pay if we want to download something without tearing our hair out. You can call tinfoil all you want, but this shit could get out of hand real fast.

Getting ripped off in the long run.. or not .. I don't see that as the current problem with Nexus. The current problem is they aren't even allowing people to make the choice. When someone pays for premium they should get "premium" a benefit. Not be forced to get a premium service because the most basic services are non functional.

 

If they are going to offer "free" they need to make sure that "free" is functional. They can put reasonable limits to downloads speeds, number of threads or downloads and even Ads to cover the cost. It is expected with normal services. Even LL has Ads to help cover the expenses as well as other restrictions to help keep the bandwidth under control.

 

The major issue that I have is their "Free" isn't functional the majority of the time. This is wrong. This needs to be fixed.

 

I would love to see a day when this thread can be locked and forgotten about. When the Nexus gives a reasonable service for the Free downloads and proper and reasonable upgrade for Premium users as well. On a consistent basis. It isn't hard. It isn't impossible. It can be done. It has been done on other sites, including LL. 

 

Ashal had to work his ass off to get some glitches fixed and optimize the sites and maybe even change hosting to get this fixed. Remember a few months ago when you could barely log on ? Sure LL isn't anywhere near the size of Nexus. However same basic process can and should be used to solve the problem. Basic point. If you are here to service individuals you need to have the best service you can possibly have. Comments on vacations and such when there are such large issues throughout your site /service. That is a sign of a very unprofessional individual. Open discussions of this sort should be reserved for a proper running company, if at all.

It was best for it to be removed. Look at all those egotistical modders on Nexus who petitioned that shit just to feel more high king. We don't need that typical attitude around here. I would rather take feedback over some lousy endorse counter. But because it is also used in function with the search modders there are wanting their mods to race to the top of the best mods.

 

You can't force someone to make a decision let alone change their opinion if they don't want to. If I feel like a mod doesn't deserve to be endorsed, I shouldn't have to have some stupid reminder tell me what I should do simply because it's the polite thing to do. Dark0ne himself admitted he raked in close to a quarter of a million US from premium memberships alone.  He then proceded to flush it down the toilet with his server overhaul and cloud syc scheme to allow for the traffic from 'all mods for all games'.  (XD like THAT worked out! ).

Anyway, I doubt many of us have misconceptions concerning the financial angle of Nexus and generated income.  So YEAH... bullshit.

Only reason I ever visit the Nexus is a single mod I'm helping a friend develop.

That's literally it, mainly because most of the mods I use besides maybe Skyrim's unofficial patches are already at their final version.

In fact, I think the only ones that are updating are the patches.

If the Nexus went down I wouldn't miss it, I have no reason to go back there besides that one friend. It's not like there's been any groundbreaking mod development going on over there anyway.

And even then, should the Nexus fall I'd tell him to come over here where there's more helpful and knowledgeable people at the ready to assist him.

Nonetheless, I still despise the Nexus and the majority of its community, the ridiculous shit D0rky puts out is worthy of song and therefore should be noted and discussed.
