koaamz Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I've been getting this feeling that as big as Fallout 4 is, "recently" speaking, it's not getting the continuous support that other games here (Skyrim/Sims4) get. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of amazing mods from amazing and talented people, but it feels like that was some sort of a "burst" period if that makes any sense, in other words, there are few new ideas for mods in comparison to Skyrim, or at least it slowed down to a point where it's just few mods getting updated with very few new "relatively" big mods being introduced.
OffYellowBoi Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Really hope not. Personally, I prefer the Fallout series to the more common Skyrim and really don't want to switch games.
cadejocr Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 More people , more probability to find an sponsor or to find stuff to make a mod, etc. So is no big suprise skyrim and sims 4 has more stuff. But is all the same big tits, feme fatale , bsdm. Everthing is explicit direct to the point. Hello and let's fuck. Disposable stuff we no true RP experience with some few exceptions.
spoonsinger Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Fallout 4 with a modded Fallout 4-76 load out is probably the best open world game at the moment, (not sure that's a good indication of the genres direction though). As to sex mods in it, umm, it's really not as good as Skyrim in scope or intention. Not entirely sure why as the engine can cope with it, but there is something about the scenario, (even with in a modded non quest based game), which doesn't seem right. For whatever reason, which I haven't put my finger on, Skyrim is just the better platform for sex based mods.
StaticPhobia2 Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Mod community has some serious issues right now with theft and censorship, not that I care because I get nothing from modding, it's just my little return compensation for other mods. But, other mod authors' have valid criticism on the matter. That and cyberpunk is coming out. Who wants to mod a game patched together with duct tape and bubblegum when you have a pristine game that will likely do everything, literally everything, better than Bethesda? But honestly, Fallout 4 AAF has come a long way since fourplay. Hell, Fallout didn't even have physics or anatomy for the longest of time. But, anyways, that's my two cents.
Guest Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Imho it all narrows down on the fact that Fallout always had a smaller pool of modders compared to its fantasy counterpart. The work needed and the "knowledge" involved are pretty huge, it's impossible to handle it if there are not many individuals involved with a lot of time on their hands.
nemocdt Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 I'm hoping Starfield is a online dystopian cyberpunk Fallout, but will probably be Fallout Andromeda if 76 is anything to go by. Bethesda have done Fallout Lore and TES Lore to death and have written themselves down a dead end street. After recently moving form skyrim to f4, i have found F4 mod's to be far more functional and direct than skyrim mod's and i like it. and im hoping this functionality evolves into tes6 and starfield. at least with starfield they can begin a new saga and lore for us to mod and lets face it with sci-fi the possiblities are endless! Races, weapons, bionics. starcraft it just goes on and on....... like my hope's that Bethesda doesnt FUCK THIS UP!
LesboIsBesto Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 I still havent updated my game to allow Creation Club to be installed or updated from vinfamy's mods to AAF, mostly cuz I spent mad time on that save & dont want it squandered. Am sad to be missin out on the lesbian animations tho );
Narsdarknest Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 wow, I was about to write a post talking about that stuff and other things like "why I uninstalled sex mods on FO4 if I always loved that kind of mods since oblivion?"I also think FO4 potential it was cut because censorship and "dont cross that lines that will make twitter SJW angry even if its fiction", and no matter if we launch nukes and enslave settlements with the core game, modders that after all are artists maybe have their "inspiration" censored when fallout is a brutal canvas to do awesome "brutal paintings". I don't know, I still haven't given up on trying to have an almost perfect FO4 setup with sex mods, but it's true that I currently only use visual sexualization but no sex mods. But im just someone who do 2D drawings anyway and not too good, then I cant help too much u.u
Invictusblade Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 the weird thing(in my opinion) between Skyrim and Fallout 4. is the customisation of the world. so in Skyrim, you are a blank slate in a unchanging world (only minor changes, Dragons, Minor NPC's) while in Fallout, you are person with an useless background(and story) in a changing world. so in Skyrim, we don't create anything, we have to rely on the creatively of others. while in Fallout, we have to create something, and we can't really rely on the creatively of others. so an example of both when I was playing Skyrim, I used to use Underground Paradise Bathhouse with a selection of sexual content within minutes of starting a new game while in Fallout 4, you have to do 1-2-3 before you get to a point of sexual content. (takes around a hour or so)
ray.doe Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 I'd prefer to have few quality and long supported mods than many small but janky mods. Unfortunately from what I notice in Fallout 4 is that the good mods never even seem to be finished which are always in beta (AAF and Just Business for example) which prevents a lot of other supplementary mods to have a good basis. It specially doesn't help that Fallout 4 is considered one of the worst Bethesda games. Hell, New Vegas modding probably still has more love than in Fallout 4. Maybe if the Fallout 4 New Vegas or Miami mod gets released then maybe we'll see a resurgence of interest from the modding community but unfortunately it will still take a long time.

Oolbl549 Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 Fallout 4 is harder to mod than Skyrim, so there's a bigger hurdle for people to get their foot in the door, and thus by extension there are fewer people moving up into skilled modders that would be making the types of mods that get the community excited. This was exacerbated early on by the delayed release of the Creation Kit, so fewer modders got in on the ground floor, so to speak. On top of that, Skyrim SE can support many mods from Oldrim with little to no effort, so modders have the existing library of Oldrim mods to work with, and the two sub-communities can cross-pollinate, There's a natural attrition of people losing interest in modding, and as these games get older, fewer people will be jumping in to mod them, and the smaller the existing base of modders is, the quicker you'll notice it. Skyrim has also been re-upped multiple times, as Bethesda keeps releasing it on other systems. Skyrim also got the Special Edition, that put it back to the top of the heap, Bethesda continues to bank on Skyrim even after Elder Scrolls Online launched. Fallout 4 never got that treatment, and as much as it's maligned, Fallout 76 did push Fallout 4 off of the forefront, and the storefront. And lastly "in these uncertain times" the fantasy setting: the great hero saving the world, superpowers, dragons, pure escapism just might be winning out in popularity over a very pessimistic, hostile post-apocalypse that takes place in the blasted ruins of a real-world city. So, there's a lot of factors leading Fallout 4 modding to be less robust than Skyrim modding. I can't speak to the Sims, I tried the Sims once and found it tedious and dull and never went back.
rennex Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 Like Oolb1549 Fallout 4 is a pain in the ass to mod the differences in the heads and body textures cause a lot problems, The precombines ruin a lot of mods or make them become unstable.
Invictusblade Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 thinking about it, the biggest problem that Fallout 4 has is the city of Boston. it would be so much easier if it was closed off like Washington DC in Fallout 3. I understand why it is a part of the world but it is still painful for modded games
DremoraDream Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 Personally, Fallout 4 is a mess. I love it, but it's just blob of garbage. Mods do a great job at salvaging it, but from my experience, it seems much harder to get involved in Fallout 4's inner workings to mod than let's say Skyrim and Skyrim SE. I have touched upon getting involved in making my own mods and scripts for Skyrim SE, albeit intimidated. I got bored of the game, and stopped seeking progress on my own in favor of getting back into Fallout 4. Trying to understand this game, again - personally, from a new modder's perspective - is a nightmare.... it's intimidating and hard to understand....in terms of anything massive like full fledged additions or new game mechanics (massive kudos to all those who have done that). Granted, we already have things that work that don't need more expanded: I'll list here.... Knockout Framework, Pacification Systems Kidnapping, Slavery, Prostitution Systems Karma, Reputation Systems Sex Systems Cover Mechanics, Unarmed Mechanics, Gunplay Mechanics (A really incredible "magic" system in the works with 3rd and 1st person support - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47556) A Perfect Visible Weapons system High Quality Armors and Clothings (Vtaw/Jmenaru/Newermind/HN66...etc) Many different Bodytypes and Support. Progress might be slow, but these are high fidelity projects. An extraordinary amount of Bug Fixes and Patches. Outdated or not, many exist. Many still work, depending on the set up. Hi-Poly Meshes, Heads, Items, Etc... The list continues... What's lacking is physics and animations... but those are still incredibly good quality...and the base game has some really clean animations to begin with. I think what's missing overall is some niche things, or cleaner functions that no one really knows how to implement. Oh well... I'm satisfied with the game in it's state plus the modding scene. But I'm not gonna sit here and say it's in a good state. It's definitely not in a bad state....and it can still have good elements while being a messy game. I guess that's why I like it so much. I prefer it to NV because of it's modern feel, but NV before and after seems superior to me. Maybe it's rose-tinted glasses... I don't know. BUT, with FO-76, ESO, and lack of mod support and mature themes in both those games (and i'm talkin Mature like things here from LL....things Cyberpunk, Witcher, GTA, and even the old Fallout games (3) have had in terms of content.....it seems Bethesda really doesn't want to support modding as much as they claim.
JHMW19 Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Yeah it looks pretty bleak. Still have yet to have a player slavery mod and I come back every so often to just see the same old mods. It sucks. I bought this years ago for the lewd mods

Snazzishoez Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Fallout 4, since the start, has been a slower paced mod scene as opposed to something like Skyrim. Number of mods today in the two titles speaks for itself. I don't think Fallout mods are dying out, they're just not as popular since the game is getting older and there are fewer people showing interest in making content. Even after a new Fallout comes out, mods will come by slowly, just like there are still mods for FNV being made. New consoles coming soon and a ton of new titles. The fact that there are very few games that are mod friendly and/or come with something similar to a creation kit, makes Elder Scroll games and Fallout games something special that will keep people playing for years to come. Mods really make replay value endless. Respect to our awesome mod authors. We love you.
Guest Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 I know what you mean, really. But numbers say differently, look on nexus, it's on second position after skyrim and it's the newest. And Steam chart shows more actual players than Skyrim, same players of Skyrim+Skyrim SSE.
BAB PEEG Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Still waiting on the weird stuff like new vegas did like the ant queen or bloatfly queen mods, plus that brown face bug just kept happening.
Invictusblade Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 one of the "problems" with Fallout 4 Modding in regards to the Older games. is that the older games have a much higher number of Housing Mods (which is a good introduction to modding) that housing mods in Fallout 4 have to be really good and polished. (with a minor story to get it) while Skyrim has numerous houses ready at the start of the game, and you would be happy if it came with storage. and it is the same with Fallout 3 and New vegas I just thinking about the bugginess of both games. and it is wierd Fallout 4 can have random ctd depending on the mods. but it is fairly stable (but it really pisses me off) While Skyrim for the longest time, CTD when loading a new save in the overworld (I used to use Haven Bag to save in) (but I was vaguely annoyed by it)

But numbers say differently, look on nexus, it's on second position after skyrim and it's the newest. How many of those mods aren't BodySlide/LooksMenu presets, mods adding weapons/armors/conversions of those armors to yet another body type? The explanation "why Fallout 4 isn't quite a modding hit" is simple and comes from the same numbers, for FO3 and F:NV. New Vegas has ~50% more mods than FO3 despite of lower sale figures (about 70% of FO3 sales, according to this source) and being 2 years younger. Why? It uses the same engine, has the same graphics and animations, the same modding tools and techniques etc. And still - such a notable difference. Why? The only explanation IMO is it was more inspiring. FO4 is apparently not. I think Bethesda modding has peaked at Skyrim - because it has a lot of interesting content to build mods around, and the engine which exceeds its predecessors when it comes to modding (in both results and ease of use), but it still doesn't stand in your way - like breaking the whole 3x3 cells area if you just replace a single reference w/o regenerating PreVis records which you can do only in CK. All idiosyncrasies of Skyrim LOD management were finally solved by DynDOLOD (including those introduced by SSE, I mean LargeRefs), but fixing PreVis in the same manner (having a batch processing tool regenerating it for your complete LO) is a different level of PITA. When it comes to adult modding, it all boils down to the point that Fallout 4 has nearly zero (compared to Skyrim) interesting stuff to (literally) fuck with. And zero incentive to fuck either. I mean - in Skyrim your character could have a sex, for example, because she's a Dibella worshiper. Or because she needs money (you need money in Skyrim to buy stuff, training, houses). In both cases she travels along many cities, populated with many NPCs not just named "wastelander", "citizen" or "settler". Also the travel may include participating in other non-combat quests (those in the cities/towns, courier delivery etc). Having sex "just because I enjoy fucking" isn't going to make gameplay even remotely interesting. How many NPCs you'd care about are in Fallout 4 cities (I mean - both of them) - I mean in a sexual sense? Excluding followers and Magnolia (who is covered by the vanilla game, just no animations). Towns? Non-existent. Non-combat quests? Non-existent. Some form of safe travel between those two cities like carriages (because why would a prostitute would put herself in danger?)? Non-existent. "Spiritual" incentive to have sex like some religious cult? Non-existent. Some "magical" reasons, like being a succubus or a sex-crazed vampire feeding while fucking, and sex magic in general? Non-existent. The point of being a prostitute in a world where money is essentially meaningless? Non-existent. I mean, Zodiac has an excellent mechanics and took probably more effort than Radiant Prostitution to make, it's a very polished mod, with a lot of features etc. Still while playing it, I was wondering if my character was thinking all the time "WTF am I doing here, in the wasteland, risking my life, and spreading legs for a penny which barely can afford me a food and shelter in Diamond city instead of just building a settlement in Sanctuary, attracting a few settlers to it, putting them to work and then spending my life enjoying the fruits of their labor in safety? Oh wait, I just enjoy being fucked by total strangers (including all sorts of mutants) all day, dealing with raiders demanding tributes, all those enemies coming to my signal, right?". If the factions were open and independent of the MQ, your character could sell her services to BoS/Institute for the "occupational perks", a place to stay and safety. But no, in order to get there, your character has to join their ranks (and this includes quite a lot of combat) and goes almost to the top instantly. Whoring yourself for money when you are a decorated officer or a mother of the Institute's boss just doesn't sound right, plus you already have everything you'd need anyway. So just as Fallout 4 gameplay could be boiled down to "shoot stuff/collect junk/build settlements", Fallout 4 adult mods more or less are going to be in either of two categories: 1) "I like you, you like me, let's fuck" 2) rape where the PC is either a victim or aggressor. And we've got both covered by really well done mods (Sex Them Up, Violate, RSE CSA), Fallout 4 adult modding is complete. Sorry if this was a long and a bit ranty post, I just came from trying Sim Settlements 2 and I guess I wanted to vent out frustration a little. This tends to happen when I try playing Fallout 4 again after being a bit tired of Skyrim. Then I complain a little, and get back to Skyrim after some rest.

phillout Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 1 hour ago, A.J. said: But that's the same for skyrim as for Fallout. Nope. If you actually compare them side-by-side, you'll see Skyrim having by many times more mods in the categories for quests, new lands, overhauls, hundreds of dungeons (those simply don't exist in FO4), by many times more mods for NPCs, player homes, many hundreds of new cities, towns and villages (again, this category simply non-existent on FO4), hundreds of new races (n/a on FO4), several times more creature mods (hardly a surprise), 3k mods in the magic section, incl, spellpacks. I could go on and on. Not a single DLC-size mod close to what Skyrim had for years, I mean those like Wyrmstooth, Falskaar, Bruma, Beyond the Reach and many others, only Northern Springs which is heavily bugged, I couldn't get into it longer than 15 minutes of gameplay w/o getting stuck or running into a CTD. And this game is 5 years old, so "it's just a new game, give it some time" doesn't work anymore for me. Compared to Skyrim of 2016 it's a vacuum filled with weapons, armor, presets and settlement blueprints. Quote Because the engine is more stable, and the script extender had many more updates that allow absurd things unbelievable in FO3. And some even in Skyrim and FO4... Originally FNV was a bugged, prone to CTD game like few on this planet when it was released. It's stable and has all those updates and fixes exactly because people have put a lot of effort into it. Due to the reason I've mentioned.
