Hey folks, just letting you know I am currently creating a TK17 Archive, basically designed for folks to be able to find stuff that was lost in MG.  I actually was a serial downloader so I have about 112GB of content on my drive. This is not intended to be a repack as it is not organized to be dragged and dropped into your game.  As I am using VX while the archive will include A lot of R9 stuff compatible with both 7.5 and VX there is no TXX files and no zips.  I used me addons in uncompressed folders which VX allows.  So if you want to use it in 7.5 you will need to recreate the TXX file.  Nice thing Cold Irony and OysterMug already uploaded some tools for folks to use if needed.

Below is a screenshot of the Archive once it is uploaded to Mega, I will post a link.  FYI The Archive is about 80GB in size.  I will also include the Hook Objects from Siberia as there are a lot of rooms that depend on that.

Weird to be around here, but maybe I can understand this, until mg might come back one day

Good news perhaps?

A Domain lookup says the "Modsgarden.cc" domain was renewed & parked on October 1 for another year. It no longer redirects to AliExpress.

I'll continue to check for its return on a regular basis. ?

But why do we care _____?

Because the minute Company-XXX finds this site, you're DONE! You'll be inundated with so much beastiality and kiddie-porn it'll make your head spin! Why do you think they had a .cc to begin with? Where is that anyway, the Czec Republic?

Oh, and it does still point to AliExpress, at least on my end.

Okay, so the guys someone stole TK17 off might come looking. But I fail to understand the second point.

"Why so user-unfriendly", you mean? I don't actually know, but if I had to guess, I'd say because the BETTER forum server apps cost MONEY? Plus, databases don't usually translate well from one app to another, so they probably don't want to change for fear of losing everything (probably inevitable anyway, as we are witnessing).

Are you really that negative? MC is immortal, as no company is able to erase all the back-up that users (especially the youngest) have, just find a new place to come back together. I just can't understand why you gringos are so afraid of a company, I'm in Brazil here is a mess, no company can prevent us from dominating something, an example that of what we do with "MS and So-ny", we are a plague in digital world, so I say: what will stop us?

Well... Imagine YOU have a bunch of stuff that "fell off the back of a truck", and you want to share it with the rest of the world out of the kindness of your heart... But, in DOING SO you piss-off the mobster who owns the truck that was carrying the merchandise, who they THEMSELVES probably found in the back of a truck in Disney's parking lot (some of this stuff is so "Little Mermaid" it ain't funny!)...  Do you see where this is going?

My opinion is that too many people are willing to dismiss the MG site altogether and just let it fall away.  Forget the downloadable content that was on that board, forget that completely.  The wealth of knowledge on that site about all subjects in game modding/coding, etc. is INCALCULABLE.  If it's lost, we truly have lost The Great Library of Alexandria.

I think we need to get that site up and somehow transfer it to a new url under new ownership.

@boomshanka - we've seen it happen before

@Olaf -

.cc is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Cocos (Keeling) Islands, an Australian territory of 5.4 square miles (14 km2; 1,400 ha) and about 600 inhabitants. It is administered by a US company, VeriSign, through a subsidiary company, eNIC, which promotes it for international registration as "the next .com"; .cc was originally assigned in October 1997 to eNIC Corporation of Seattle, Washington, by the IANA.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus—a country the UN does not recognise, as they consider it an occupied part of Republic of Cyprus—also uses the .cc domain, along with .nc.tr.

I can tell you that last time I checked our (former?) server was out of Cyprus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I'm seeing is new members on this board, who really have no idea how much information was on that board, were short or long time lurkers supreme, or who only care about "getting theirs."  I'm not terribly interested in their opinions, which I personally think are driven by selfishness or short-sightedness.

I also think there are too many people who think they'll create some kind of Patreon hub.  For what it's worth, and for anybody who cares, I won't be a part of that.

Us older members need to work with K17 to try to get this thing back up.  I've already been in contact with them and have offered my assistance.  I think it's time others did too.

Well done!  As soon as you post it I'll download to save possibly for later use/upload to other places.  Better to have duplicate copies than not.

For the past 2 days, I've been getting an "Error 502: Bad Gateway" error.

Today, I'm getting nothing. ?

I don't know what your using to lookup the domain record but I've been checking daily and nothing has changed. The transfer prohibited status basically just means the owner, Mora, set it up where no one can move it unless she notifies the registrar and takes the setting off. It's a security thing.

Basically there is still probably another 30 days or so left until it is truly purged and sold. At that point someone can purchase it at auction or something else. However you will not have the database just the domain.

I guess my simple question is how do old members help to bring things up?  I ask this because members like OZ70NYC has offered multiple times better hosting options as he does this as his day job however he has not made much headway.  The only thing old members really have is their content.  Old members cannot magically come together and do a care bear stare and will the Garden back up again. What old members can do is start to upload their content to an area where people can find it.  I think a lot of people really wanted a new site with more features space etc.  However how do you do that? Do you just have someone else take on what Mora did? What happens if they get sick of the game and they disappear like Mora did?

This is the reason hosted sites like LL or others tend to work, because there is a type of continuity of administration that moves on regardless if for example I decide to be like I'm out of here.  I'm sure the admins have ways of moving ownership to somebody else based on specific protocols.  Is it the best? No it is not.  But being in a community with the 2 largest secx mod communities Sims 4 and SkyRim may have it's benefits of bringing new blood into the community.

LOL, I love how you put this.  Here is my thought about said company as I have heard time after time the stories.  Which I believe to be true.  However that was 8 years ago.  As someone with an account with said company that still sees what is going on there now and then I can say this.  It doesn't seem like they care.

They seem to be more focused on their new 3D chat game which does not surprise me because that is where most of these games are making their money.  This explains why they seemed to have completely changed the strategy for #DSV in 2017,  where basically you no longer have to pay for every little thing ala carte.  When a game is no longer a companies primary source of revenue...they tend not bother with costly legal fees that don't do much.  Their modding community is pretty strong.  I would say more content is created there than what I ever saw on MG. Yeah I said it they have a much more healthier community than MG so why would they care what we do? Because when they where trying to wipe MG off the planet their community did not exist.

Also there is a a lot of sites that hosted TK17. A lot.  They are all still up pushing their repacks and such.  Not to mention they probably had or have account on Modsgarden.cc.  The garden was not exactly invisible.  I'm sure if they really wanted to shut it down they could have.

Hey maybe I'm wrong....but I doubt shit happens.  I wouldn't worry that much about said company in Austria

The biggest reason I care is because I would desperately like to recover the list of all my uploads (with links) over the past 6 years.

I hear you that is a level of annoying when you already had so much content in a single spot

I used ICANN. It shows an update on Oct 1, 2020. The "WhoIs" listing was last updated in January.

Yes just saw that it was renewed today which means someone must of got a hold of Mora
