Yeah, nah. Seriously a game from 10 years ago got censored, and you are saying the game now is going to get censored? Da fuck?

Why should the base game support or provide models with genitals? I imagine that won't even have a feet.

That's a the job of the community to add what you need for your desired projects.

On general principle. Humans have genitals. Also, because if the genitals exist and can be toggled according to nudity settings, then that's at least one variable of genital representation which can be used by mods.

In early versions they had placeholders, as you can see in the screenshot right above you, but they announced they won't be keeping those (nobody would want them anyway) and they'll be covering them with a leaf.

A leaf is at least a bit classier than a mosaic.

You think the US has gotten less socially conservative in the last decade? I mean, in this specific case there's an argument to be made that because Steam is more international and more open to different levels of content on the platform, there's less direct impediment compared to when devs had to care about Gamestop and Walmart. But in general, nudity in US culture has only become more heavily sexualized, and even on the internet, censorship has spread over places that used to be free from it and become more strict in places where it didn't used to be.

Now I'm going to have to reinstall my game and check it out. I remember being pleasantly surprised by the cards, and I'm positive that boobs weren't hidden. Although I do have the Enhanced Edition from Steam, rather than the original release, in the off chance that they changed things later.

The amount of content in CK2 accumulated for years is insane and there is no way the can catch in a new development. Hope I am wrong and they try to incorporate the most interesting content in CK3, but I'm afraid it will be a wear down version of CK2. Maybe in time and after tons of DLCs it will catch up. It remembers me when EA jumps to Sims4.

It's how things seem to go. Civilization is another example of where by the time one version of the game ends, it's got a ton of added content, and when the newest version comes out, it only has portions of what the last version did.

I'd imagine though, that CK3 will be more than what CK2 was originally at release, so hopefully it won't take as long to feel as fleshed out. It looks like we're getting a much larger playable map than what CK2 originally offered, so that's a plus.

Like you said though, we can only hope that it does have the cooler parts that we enjoyed (which is different for everyone, so some of us won't be entirely happy).

The Enhanced edition has the uncensored cards.  But it came out well after the initial releases of the US/Euro versions of The Witcher.  I ought know cause I ordered the European version instead of the U.S. one.  Same thing with Sword of Xanten cause the US distributor really pared down the original European version and renamed it "Dark Kingdom, The Dragon King"  In general, if I choose between Euro and US versions, I usually will try to get the Euro version. For instance, in "Vikings" TV series, nudity was censored in the USA (largely because History is a public channel) while it was uncensored in Europe.  The DVD is the censored version while the Blu-ray version is not.

As Chikin pointed out, the USA has become more conservative.  And conservatives elected a man who basically should be anathema to every single conservative principle (lol) but they are only in it for political power rather than moral or ethical scruples.  The very exact things that started quite a number of religious conflicts in Europe.

Are there different breast sizes in the base game? Or is it a default?

Also, do we know how diverse the potraits are in general?

You can see in the two pictures posted earlier there are two different naked women who seem to have similar but slightly different breast sizes. Both are quite small.

Anyway there's going to be quite a lot of variation in the new models. There's probably been a dev diary about them already.

Well, there are different kinds of conservatism. Being xenophobic and anti-elite doesn't necessarily equate to wanting to censor nipples in M-rated games--just as some of those most opposed to pornography are solidly liberal/progressive feminist types. (And Trump's a right-wing populist [which gained support in Europe, too; look at the UK's last parliamentary election, for starters]--note how he won the blue industrial states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, while super-red Mormon Utah didn't like him all that much, giving so much support to a 3rd party candidate that Trump only won a plurality in Utah [45%--one % point higher than hasn't-voted-Republican-since-Reagan Minnesota] when it had voted 77% for Romney in 2012. The people who actually got Trump elected were blue-collar union folk who've been voting Democrat for decades, if even one of those states had voted Democrat like they were "supposed" to, he wouldn't have won.)

But I digress.

Sort of in line with this, over the past several months, I've read non-advertisement articles about Porn Hub search trends with the big increased usage while areas are locked down, how Steven Spielberg's daughter found her happy spot doing porn, how an Olympic hopeful got injured, abandoned by everyone she knew, hit dirt bottom, and then found her way back out of a really bad situation after turning to porn. I don't recall this kind of stuff getting the positive spin it does now, compared to a decade ago. So I'd agree that being more conservative doesn't equate automatically to less boobs. Or my memory compared to a decade ago is shit. Which is possible.

I don't really like 3d models. It makes them too much 'real'. I could smither a baby in a crib and caniibalize others because 2d portrate system made them look less human. With new 3d model system I think I might feel guilty over killing off my dull son, castrating my brother and going full eugenics to create genius strong heir.

It's called invoking what passes for humanity within you.  Me, I'd have zero issues murdering or doing horrible things to them cause I know it's just a pixelated game and has no relation to real life whatsoever like the good Marquis de Sade's "Justine" or "100 Days of Sodom" had anything to do with real life.  It still didn't save the good Marquis from the insane asylum at Charenton.

I've literally never seen that line in the game, across thousands of hours played.
But then again, Christians tend to be the ones getting the stick in my games.

I just find it odd that someone would care so much about a single, cosmetic, two-word sentence that it'll decide whether they even buy the game.

Removing it would be the same as removing Allahu Akbar from it. Both have historical reference, and a place in a game based on history. I only see it when I play in a period where the Crusades are happening, but I usually do my play sessions earlier, and then the game has to worry about my reformed Pagan holy wars...

That aside - it wouldn't stop me from buying it, but opinion wise, I think it'd be stupid to remove it.

In a game where the main appeal is stuff like, murder, incest, religious warfare, all that kind of funny stuff.
if you start to censorship something from 1000 years ago because you might find it offensive today.
What will be next ? Everything that make the game fun could be censored.
That's why people get pissed off by it.

Ten bucks says it will mysteriously dissapear from a game, either at release or one of the patches/DLC/FLC/updates.

And just to be clear - it wasnt FAKE. It was true but the overwhelming negative reaction of everyone in the community, even including their own hugbox forum asskissers , redditors and drones made them backtrack that shit. And then they released that typical bullshit corporate PR speak "we didnt actually said what we said" damage control article and retarded fanboys ate that shit up and started praising Paradox for their usual minimum effort.

Shocking - people dont want politically motivated censorship that is done to appeal to people who arent even fans of the game and they react negatively to a historical game being stripped from historical content.

Especially god damned hypocritical one seeing how no one bats an eye "allahu akbar" being in game despite the link to the terrorism being much clearer and straightforward in that case.
