How do I update the merged version? I updated from 2.2.0 to 2.3.4 (midsave) and the troublesofheroine.esp isn't loaded (it was enabled in Vortex), and I was loaded in an inn. Right now I'm current;y back in 2.2.0, nothing broken, so far, but I'm still looking to update.

I have a mod (I have no idea which one does this) that has NPCs aggressively sexing slaves.  This unfortunately moves some characters from given positions.  The console method mentioned by DSHV should bring him to your character.

@DSHVSo, I was looking around in your mod and found a serana copy in a position similar to valerica after the first AAAPawnDawn quest was finished. So, if i assume correctly, did you mean to add a serana copy after the completion of the quest? Or is only valerica supposed to appear there?

 

Also, for the altered cattle that looks like serana, can any dialogues be added for immersion? just adding a backstory would be pretty good, what do you think?

I dunno if this is a bug or not, but I just can't seem to defeat Hammer (Underground Slave Fight) even though I beat the shit outta him multiple times already the end dialogue is that I lost. What did I do wrong? I can't progress with the quest.

I made a small patch just for fun - added the JobInnKeeper keyword and faction to your Valerica clone, so she is recognized by Radiant Prostitution and has the dialogue line to act as a Madame  Both keyword and faction are vanilla, so you could add them to the mod, make it a cool easter egg for players who run with Radiant P... Since I didn't add her to the vendors faction or give her a vendor chest, she doesn't sell food or drinks, she also doesn't rent rooms, but simply gets that one dialogue line "do you have any work for a dunmer" (or whatever your race is). Allowing you to spread love to your vampire friends (or dawnguard, if you sided with them) in the castle premises, for a fee!

It's not guaranteed to work. When plugins are merged (at least with zMerge clobber method) those that come lower in the merge list can have some forms renumbered if their formid (minus index) is equal to an earlier mod in the merge. When DSHV updates the mod, more often than no, there will be new records in the main mod, especially since it's being expanded an not just maintained. So there's a chance that more records in the DLC add-ons will be renumbered in the merged plugin. As renumbered records always receive a sequential id number in the espfe range, any new renumbered records in the updated merge will affect all of those that come after, meaning your merged plugin may end up with radically different record numbers for the two DLC add-ons, especially the one that came second in the merge.

 

When you load the updated merged plugin in your game, even if it uses the same filename and is accepted by the game, the differently numbered records may result different sorts of problems. 1) if you patched the mod to your load order, your patch may have broken references that need to be updated to match the new record numbers. 2) scripts that are baked into your savegame may have attached to the old records, for example, if you use the mod Imperious, it will add racial abilities to all NPCs via scripts and when it hooks onto your mod's NPCs, it bakes that information into your savegame. If you change your load order of if you update the merge, and any NPCs get their formids renumbered, those scripts will still try to hook onto the previous record numbers which may now be something completely different, and invalid - such as, instead of an NPC, the new record number corresponding to a piece of armour or an ingredient or furniture, etc... That generates a lot of papyrus noise, whether you're logging or not (if you are logging, you'll notice your logs becoming clogged with thousands of instances of the same error message in a few minutes of gameplay; if you aren't logging, those are still useless scripts that take up limited processing time for no effect at all). This won't necessarily make your savegame unplayable, but it will have a huge impact on stability and you'll likely crash more often during busy times of the script engine.

 

Having said all that, I did update my merged version and did a thorough check in xEdit, having found no broken references in my patch. Taking it as a good sign I checked the merge map (since Nomkaz has kindly left it in the archive, which is very useful) and there are no new renumbered records in the DG and DB plugins, while the HF add-on is a new addition from this version (at least considering my previously installed version). So no broken scripts are to be expected as long as the filename is the same. Since Nomkaz has changed the merged plugin name from TroublesofHeroine.esp to TroublesofHeroineSE.esp, you MUST rename the merged plugin to have the exact same filename as your previous version and make sure it goes in the exact same place in your load order, if you update with an ongoing game.

 

Updating merged plugins is almost always a bad idea. In this case, I verified it and it can be done, as long as you do it as stated above.

 

As a short direct answer to your question - the reason why troublesofheroine.esp isn't loaded is because it was renamed troublesofheroineSE.esp in the new merged version. This was unnecessary and only brings added complexity to the process of curating and updating your mod list. To restore functionality to your game after updating, simply rename the filename to troublesofheroine.esp and make sure it goes in the same place in your load order. Absolutely do NOT run LOOT (or whatever Vortex uses to sort plugins) if you're updating an ongoing game.

 

If @nomkaz reads this, I hope they'll consider in the next version going back to using the same filename as the LE merged version, and both using the same as the main plugin's filename - TroublesofHeroine.esp - because if people share patches in this support thread, for example, that were made for the LE version, SSE users would be required to make some changes before being able to use those patches in their games, specifically, changing the master filename in the plugin, which can be easily done in Wrye Bash, but not something that everybody knows how to do.
