Will You Buy The Outer Worlds?

The game launches without mod support, although apparently the devs are considering adding it later down the line.

I think what that basically means is no integrated mod launcher or load order system. Hopefully we'll still see UE4 hacks for the game prior to that, but I'm not getting my hopes up... As always the key to adult modding is going to be accessing the animation library and character positioning/alignment... And I kind of expect Obsidian to lock that down, even after they 'support' modding.

I spent 1 dollar (5 dollars after first month) for microsoft's all game pass. But if I like the game a lot, I'll go and buy it to actually own it. No tencent store required

Mesh and texture swaps are possible in Unreal Engine 4 without any additional apps being installed though nothing involving modding is ever guaranteed. The recent EDF game has no nude mods, after all.

It's on Epic? Oh well.. that's it then. If I can buy it without the Epic store I'll still be interested.

no, you can get it on the microsoft store. And its part of microsoft's game pass you can get 1 dollar (1st month) and 5 dollars (every month) after that.

Well, subscription service is even turborer cancerer than Epic Store, but it seems to be buyable the old fashioned way as well for the usual price.

Still needs a Microsoft Account.

Not sure if give MS Store a try or wait a year for Steam and possibly GoG release... ?

Eh, what the hell. I've got money that isn't doing anything, and i'm done with The Surge 2 for now.

I don't even care about a nude mod yet, somebody just please fix the females -_- Half of them are square jawed and they all have pixie and buzzcuts. I'm all for diversity, but it isn't diversity when they're all like that..

Wouldn't mods also only work on the Epic shitlauncher in that case, since the Windows version is once again in a secured folder?

No they won't wait a year the thing with Epic was always meant to screw Steam. The subscription always has been a way to try out a game before you buy and I believe if you buy it and have a Gamepass subscription you get a discount. Doesn't look like a discount is available yet.

Actually it's available with the Gamepass right now. I'll wait and see the reviews and for it to go on sale in a month or 2.

Personally, Pillars 2 was a bitter disappointment for me (and I really liked Pillars 1). Plus, Obsidian games aren't exactly released in a bug free state.

I'll wait a few months when it comes has received a few fix and content patches. Then we'll see.

I dunno. These sub services where you pay X amount of dollars and get a huge selection of games is amazing for severely poor people. I think people against services are people that can buy any game they want without worrying about money. But they don't realize or maybe don't really care that these more benefit poor/low income gamers than they themselves. I wouldn't be able to play so many games otherwise. Likewise, subbing to humble bundle nets me a lot of "free" (well super affordable on my income) games every month.

Subbing to Origins, Microsoft, Humblebundle...is still cheaper than one 60 dollar game and I get a massive selection to choose from. I can even play sims 4, and enjoy the loverslab mods because I just pay the much cheaper price to EA and get it part of the sub. But then I've been able to play crysis 1-3 and experience that game too. Then like humblebundle of course is by far the best for getting expensive games for just a cheap monthly price. Then microsoft, 5 dollars pretty much (ignoring 1 dollar for first month) for a huge selection of games? Including outer worlds? Thats amazing, I'd never be able to play outer worlds for a long time without that.

I paid 1e to MS store and i can recommend renting the game for the price. It really feels like Mass effect and Fallout series, not perfect game but really addictive and fun once you get into it. I've had no crashes or any bugs so far.

I'll propably finish it within a month and can buy it later in few years discounted if it gets any interesting dlc/mods.

MS: "Hey guys.. Make something like Borderlands, Rage 2, Fallout.. you know just.. mix it all together.."

Obsidion: "Oh yeah sure.. we know what you mean.."

Look it up, Obsidian started making Outer worlds before they were bought by MS. Would you have preferred if Bethesda, EA or Ubisoft bought them instead? Obsidian have a pretty good track record, so I'd say don't diss the game if you haven't actually played it.

This one is actually very polished both in term of lack of bug and the whole UX. It seems that Obsidian when well managed by a publisher which limit them in feature creep (their issue on Pillars 1 et 2 IMHO) while giving them a decent timeline (as opposed to Bethesda for FNV)  can release games which are pretty much ready to play out of the box.

Have you seen my other posts, after that initial reaction?

Yeah, pretty cool. It's like New Vegas in space without Bethesda's ancient engine and other Bethesdaisms, and with proper QA, UI and general polish. ...Which, actually, would make it excatly nothing like New Vegas ?

Right back into blasting not-Raiders with a plasma rifle and stealing everything that is not nailed down. And like back in the good Fallouts, i want to play all my distincts characters at the same time :classic_happy:

And the 'R' in the RPG doesn't stand for level ups. Well, only for that.

Not happy having to use MS store, but i can deal with it. And i can always buy it again once it lands on Steam :P Yeah, it's that good. So far, at least.

In general even on UE4 this game is looking and feeling like FO franchise. In both the optimization and core engine elements that bear similarity from Beth Gamebryo. Its like they just pasted the code from NV to UE4, this a corridor game and I can barely hit 60fps on High* ( *\highest\ultra) with i4590\MSI1060.

In gameplay, its too Fallout-ish on all aspects and shooting mechanics even worse. The only pluses I had noticed are : funny dialogues, expression animations, nice visual style, quality textures (exactly from Substance Painter defaults) and role elements,NPC looking sexier than your created freak. Hardcore even on high with your x2-4 arm\wpn better than any enemy you battle, all your specs are just negative when you battle tons of them on the field - 4 shots and you die, followers just die from 2 shots. On Supernova difficulty its very challenging and stupid with all those mechanics, but on normal difficulty you are too OP. ?

It is repetitive and interesting simultaneously. Disappointed the most from some boring unused sub-story dialogue from NPC when you talk to them. Like you go to a market to buy some bread and cashier starts to talk about his life, family, or how he go to a bathroom in the morning.Wasted opportunity in this dialogue mechanics.

Consider this game as another FO space spin-off with  upgraded gamebryo engine (I think Starfield would look exactly like that) and not a new space IP.
