Is this a problem that will get solved or will I just have to accept that the chains will always be broken?

That fixed it for me.

I tested the workaround the way you stated (the 7z steps), but tried the impossible task of making the instructions "tonto-proff". ?

No. Prisoner chains noHdt is chain harness made specially on SE version for no HDT. Prisoner chains with HDT are chains with physics, but looks weird. Prisoner chains have wrist cuffs, leg cuffs chain between arms, chain between legs and middle chain what connect legs, arms and end on neck collar.

I downloaded the vortex version 1.4.17 installer and then installed it. It was not necessary to uninstall the old version, but a warning sign will appear warning you that you are downgrading vortex to a previous version... you confirm it. Once the old version is installed, you can install all devious mods.

Download with Vortex? You probably mean installing it to Vortex. It is a Vortex bug that will be fixed in next version 1.5.6.
