Reginald_001 Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 27 minutes ago, Qsonic said: Maybe I can visit you and play Ivy on your PC, Expert! This helps a lot if it runs on your PC! Modding Fallout can be a frustrating experience. Take a deep breath, verify the game files in Steam, try updating your audio drivers and your video drivers. Try setting your audio settings to stereo through your audio card setting. Try disabling all other mods to pin it down. Â There is nothing in Ivy, except for content, that can slow your machine. Unless you have very low hardware, very little memory (e.g. less than 2GB), are playing on a laptop with emulated audio card, or some other setup like that there's just nothing to account in Ivy for it causing FPS issues. Ivy is setup like any other companion. She doesn't even come near anything like death anims of NPC's, or stuff like that. This is what Olmech is trying to point out. Â I created a script free version of Ivy you can try it, but only if you are using 3.0, otherwise stuff will go wrong. You can download this and overwrite it. This script free version of Ivy removes any scripts. In this case if the lag goes away you will know you have an issue with running too many mods at the same time, which (then) your machine assumedly can't handle... Â (Try all other suggestions first, this removes all Ivy features and is not meant for gameplay. Make a backup of the original CompanionIvy.esp file so you can return it after testing) Â CompanionIvy.esp 2

No need to be rude to others when asking for help, friend.  I see you also run Pack Attack NPC.esp (PANPC) which is very script intensive. I know the author has gone through great lengths to fix his script lag issues, but I can assure you, they are not all sorted yet. For me, PANPC, which I reallly like, tags a lot of NPCs with additional script variables that don't get cleaned when they are unloaded regardless of whether they are enemies or friendlies, and even with updates, cleaning out the old PANPC stuff from non-vanilla NPCs (e.g. those added by mods like 3DNPC_FO4.esp) is a real chore when you are trying to salvage a playthrough. Yea, I did exactly this with 3DNPC NPCs after PANPC screwed them over!  The moral here is that even if an update/fix was installed, your savegame is already tainted. Did you try with a completely new game fresh out of the vault with no other mods loaded, as well? Also, I have opted to forego PANPC despite the author's claims of resolving the issues, and haven't looked back since.  I sometimes get lag or FPS drops because I simply have Netflix running on a second screen while I game. There's a whole mess of things happening in the background that could affect your gameplay. I would follow Reginald's advice. It doesn't sound (to me) like it's another mod or h/w issue. I run FO4 on a laptop with a secondary 34in UWS attached, and it plays pretty nice. Not perfect, but enjoyable.  3
Olmech Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 2 hours ago, Qsonic said: Maybe I can visit you and play Ivy on your PC, Expert! This helps a lot if it runs on your PC! Well my point was that it does in fact run flawlessly on my PC which would indicate that it is indeed a problem on your end. I apologize that I cant tell you what it is because I do know how frustrating it can be to have a mod you want to use not acting right. But when there exists a great majority of mod users who are having no problems and you are...its not the mod. Raising your hand saying the mod is the problem is not going to fix that.
Qsonic Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I don't meant to be rude, but the info that it works on other PCs doesn't help me much. I reinstalled all mods, taken out the Pack Attack NPC mod and retry it again. If it works good, if not I have to live with it. The only strange thing is exactly what I wrote before. If this esp isn't on there is no lag anymore either with dialog nor with animations. That is what I simply don't get. I've also tracked that Ivy follows not close. She wanders around even if I go on. Then she catch up and there is the drop. I don't figured out if any other companion mod does the same, since I wanted to travel with her and I really like the comments and her not so well working software routines. Maybe it is the unlimited companion framework? I try to sort the mod out, if I find anything I can report back which one it was and so the author of this great mod has a clue, if it happens again. Deal?

Deal? See, thats very useful information. I dont use any of the mods you listed there so obviously it has to be one of those mods not playing well with Ivy but again...that does not mean Ivy is broken. Using that same logic, you could say one of the other mods is broken when in truth, neither are broken. Two mods made at different times by two different people. The mods arent broken...they just dont like each other. I would suggest disabling all other mods but Ivy then restart them one by one till you find the one that makes Ivy go bonkers. Then see if one of the mod authors can make an edit to make them work together. If not you will just have to decide which mod is more important. I love Ivy. I want @Reginald_001 to build me a real one. 2
DominusKaine Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Hmm, did you Quick Recruit her with Unlimited Companion Framework or did you go through her normal quest dialogue by redeeming her voucher? If you did the Quick Recruit route, Ivy's scripts may not be activated/validated/firing as they should because she's not a "real" companion, meaning she is a "forced" companion by the setplayerteammate command instead of the normal setcompanion command.  It's just a thought. We all want her working for you. She truly is an awesome companion—a genuine, sexy af femme fatale. 3

You should get a quest telling you to turn on the radio. You should listen. It should create a quest arrow leading to Ivy. If it doesn't > Mod conflict somehwere.. Others have had this behavior and solved it with load order, check earlier in this thread. Â Â It is simply and completely and utterly impossible that Ivy is to blame for this. The fact that it happens while traveling with Ivy does not mean she causes it. Â Correlation != Consequence != Cause. Â There is nothing and I repeat NOTHING added to Ivy that could add in FPS drops. Â Things you want to check out: Â - Do you have mods installed that in any way mod the .44 mm gun. - Do you have mods installed for Irma's dress - Do you have mods installed for custom body - Have you equiped Ivy with a custom weapon mod. - Do you have any mods that change death anims and what not (e.g. the Enhanced Gore mod) Â You'll want to focus on those mods. Â Please note that The enhanced gore mod causes the exact behavior for me as you described, including CTD's. But again that was completely unrelated to Ivy. If you have that gore mod... disable it. Â In other news: I'v been trying to get the hug anim working but it's hard, capital H. I tried looking into Leito's animation mod to see what triggers the anim, but all the 'edit script' buttons are greyed out meaning he didn't include the source. I created a thread asking for help on Nexus, but it's starting to look like I'm on my own. Either nobody actually figured this out, or they're not willing (or able) to share their knowledge. I'll keep fiddling the rest of the day, maybe look into the 4play framework, if it all doesn't start to frustrate me too much... Â (edit) OH MY GOD!! So I created a 'hug' scene and decided to try out the Hancock hugging/kill scene, triggered by the NX2C holotape. I loaded up my game, clicked on the 'hug ivy' option in the holotape. Her package initiates, she walks up to me, really friendly.. says 'This is nice', then she hugs me! First person! I see my head go into her arms. Â She grabs a knife and stabs me twice.. and I fucking die!!! I think I pissed my pants. Â Shit I wish I could push that into her melee combat. I'd like to see her walk up to a raider, then kill him like that. Thank you for your reply. And sorry for the late reply myself. After reading your comment and where to find her, she was there. I started a new game and I had a lot of things popping in, and I some how missed that I received the W.I.V.S signal. I do have another question, I have been trying to find a way to have sex with her, but I am unable to find the option. I looked in the romance options. Thank you again for your reply to my first question. 1

You'll have to use Sex Em Up, Leito's/Crazy's gun or similar mod to initiate coitus with her. She's basically meat for the grinder. Ok, that sounded better in my head, but you get my point. Bumpin' uglies with her is the same as if you were trying to get some Marcy with a little Murphy on the side... you need da sex mods.  *thankfully, my Sanctuary Five are all "Hot Mamas" thanks to another mod. Otherwise, I'd stick Marcy in the Molerat Den and punish any offending raiders with a "Five Mins of Marcy" punishment. Yeowch! 2

Hogz50 Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Ivy really is an over the top Achievement in companion mods, R4-04, and nora mod cant keep up with Ivy, 3.0 is so compatible with all my other mods not a single bug at all, trying to see if shes DLC friendly, I took her to Far Harbor, met dima and not much response from her, however she was impressive when hunting down Kellogg. I cant seem to trigger her quest though, I ran her through all the vaults and took her to almost every commonwealth location. I heard her memories and stories to almost have them memorized. trying to figure if I missed something. shes an awesome mod though Love it. 3

Especially Far Harbor should hold some interesting things for Ivy... 3

Heather was my favorite companion before Ivy, but there was that slight disappointment when she didn't have anything new to say in Far Harbor or Nuka World. I love Far Harbor especially. Just hoping she doesn't hate the Children of Atom, because the fountain / Mother scene pretty much always makes my character a believer in the Atom. And a disclaimer, I don't know anything about Ivy's relationship with the Children, haven't gotten that far with her.  She's.... well she thinks they're nuts, basically. But she's pretty neutral towards them, unless their aggressive... then she eats them up for breakfast. I have to admit that the CoA quest line and location is my favorite in Far Harbor. That music, those candles, that praying and mumbling, I always get a sense of awe in that place, even though they're a bunch of nutters.  Mostly in there, she'll be worried about the playing soaking up rads, is my guess! 1
PanamaRed Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a bug. Here's what's going on: - I tuned in to the radio station, got a quest marker and found Ivy in the bunker in Sanctuary - I spoke to her she seemed to activate, follows me around, and seems fully functional - I then noticed a quest to find Ivy's activation code - Went to the Med-X building and found the code plus a holotape with parts of her backstory - The quest advances and I'm supposed to activate Ivy. - HOWEVER, there does not seem to be any way to do this, either by giving her anything or a menu option    The quest appears to be stuck on activating Ivy. How do I advance it?    What am I missing? Thanks in advance...

Then she is already recruited and you should have the NX-2C Controller Holotape. Open it, then go to advanced features click on 'Deactivate Unit'. Exit your holotape. Wait for a few seconds until you get the screen to send Ivy away. Reopen your NX-2C Controller Holotape, click on 'Activate' Ivy, exit your holotape and wait for a few seconds.  Make sure you're NOT running multi/follower/companion mods. If you are, place Ivy on TOP of your load order.  If you don't have the NX-2C Holotape. Open your console, type 'help "NX-2C" 0', lookup the ID for the NX-2C controller holotape, type 'player.additem <holotapeID>' then follow the steps outlined above. 1
PanamaRed Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Thanks for the response...here's the latest: Moved Ivy to the top of the load order. I did not have the NC-2X holotape, so I added it via the console. I used the holotape to deactivate and then activate Ivy. This didn't seem to make a difference. Â The only thing that seems glitched is the quest. She otherwise seems completely functional. It there a way to mark the quest complete? Â I really do like the mod and can appreciate the work that went into making it.

Sierra 21 Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Hi Reginald_001,  Just saw you post that the DLC locations are being planned and I cannot wait to start a new game with Ivy in those locations as I have finished them off already. Ivy is the only companion that I am always willing to scrap a game in order to experience her new dialogue or updates. Ivy is just so incredible. Ivy is at the stage where she tells my character that  she loves him and doe's a lot of the "kiss" remark to him. You sir are a scholar and a gentlemen for all the work you do on her and for all the support you give on this brilliant masterpiece.  1

Anyway great mod what I've seen so far, she is very funny to be around. That crispy comment ( Danse) was the funniest thing I've heard from her. Sadly I can't get her to work with my configuration. Thanks to all for the help and advice and for the creator - keep up the good work with Ivy!
