FULLY VOICED Companion: Completely Oversexed Ivy 3.2

Most of Ivy's dialogue is tucked nicely into groups. I learned that the hard way after relocating 1500 lines of dialogue somewhere midway in her creation process. ;)

On that technical side I did some improvements last night. I switched all the 'your thoughts' to a different scene. The CK was starting to stop responding whenever I opened the 'recruitment' scene, due to the hundreds of lines of dialogue in there. Now each time she tells her thoughts, this is actually a completely different scene. This should also help in load times/memory consumption for all of her dialogue. The memory archive already got that treatment earlier.

I noticed that you had to redo some of her recently. Was hoping you took advantage of that to fix/devide things for her.

If the CK is choking on it, the FO4 engine would soon afterwards anyway.

Hoping to finish reinstalling today and test new Ivy (and new RSE), once I'm up.

Almost home for bed (after 12hr shift).

Yes I changed her up quite a bit 'behind the curtains' to allow for more expansion and ease of changes in the future.

I've been adding several more stories on the Pelican King's exploits... shit I love that storyline. I wish I could do more with it.

(edit) Just sitting with Ivy is a joy. She starts talking out of her ass like there's no tomorrow.

Hi Reginald_001,

I can't wait to hear more of the Pelican King stories as it's one of the most interesting stories I've ever heard.  Did you get that from somewhere?  I'd actually like to read about it.  Oh and what song is Ivy humming as I got to hear it for the first time briefly in a elevator and it spooked me as it came out of nowhere.  Love where you are going with Ivy and I cannot see playing Fallout without her.  She is the best.

So your latest update did not work on my game save. So I said I will start over. I did. And guess what?

Ivy still isn't showing up in sanctuary. WTF?

Ivy doesn't "show up" in Sanctuary - you have to find her. Follow the "Redeem Ivy" quest shown under "data" in your PipBoy - listen to WIVR radio (select radio station under "radio" tab in PipBoy, then close PipBoy and listen.) Follow quest marker to the fallout shelter in Sanctuary behind the house on the far west side of Sanctuary. Enter the fallout shelter and find Ivy waiting there. Speak to her and recieve the voucher quest which will send you to another location on the map to get the voucher. Once you have the voucher, return to Sanctuary and the fallout shelter where Ivy will be waiting and present the voucher to her and she is now your companion. Bob's yer uncle.;)

Wait, the radio works for you straight out of the vault without meeting her and redeeming her voucher? It never worked for me until I redeemed her voucher. I thought this was the way it was designed to work. Afterall, why would she "advertise" if she wasn't available "for service"?

In other aspects, I've yet to receive a "Bad Raider" quest from her (v3.1 + NEW game). Does her radio have to be on to allow the SM to trigger the raider quest? I've been all across the north to well past the BoS bunker, and all the way down the western border past the radiation dumpsite. Minimal incursion around DC except for the UFO quest and Vault 81 for Curie. I am past level 20 and still no raider quest. Ivy's never left my side since redemption with her radio off/on intermittently depending on my mood and circumstances—although it is kind of funny to smite Gunners and Super Mutants via SKK Combat Stalkers to the "custard" tune.

Sitting dialogue is not working for me, either, but I only tested in V81.

I wonder if I have an errant mod somewhere that's mussing things up for Ivy like a wet gremlin.

Other than that, haven't noticed any other issues. I had to update my custom Ivy patch to match the new version and incorporate an Armorsmith Extended patch (because the broken VIS sorting was driving me bonkers), but all is functioning as expected.

I love story time concerning the Pelican King and her newly added Gen 2 taunts in pure robotic Ivy style. Nice touch, @Reginald_001.

WIVS has always worked for me out of 111. However, I've had to select the station and then close the PipBoy with it activated and wait a second or two for her message to come up. Funny how you thought her advertising was premature, I always assumed I was picking up a working prozzie for a companion! lol

I have not recieved a "Bad Raider" quest yet either with both new male and female characters reaching full affinity and lots of hours logged with her. I wonder if it takes longer or if maybe I have a conflict not shown in FO4Edit? Hmmm...

I don't believe sitting dialogue has been implemented as of yet. Should be in 3.2 iirc.

Sitting Dialogue is a new feature, not inside 3.1 yet!

As for the radio, there are two modes:

MODE 1) Works directly > Ivy pleading for someone to redeem her.

MODE 2) Works after recruiting > Ivy plays music and trailers.

The song she is humming is pretty freaky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sya7CtFP8oU

After speaking 20 times with Ivy (individually approach her, not asking 'your thoughts' 20 times) she should give the radiant quest.

Can you physically walk up to her and try 20 times? (Hi! > Your thoughts > Never mind).

I am thinking of changing this up and having something else trigger the quests (e.g. nights spent)

Hey @figarodlc perhaps you could make a short video that shows the entire recruitment process?

Like in a walkthrough? It's difficult to grasp why this is so hard for some people... turn on radio, listen to the message, follow the quest, it's just the same as the Nuka World DLC and Vault Tec DLC starts... So I get worried the quest might actually be bugged? :open_mouth:

Yea, now that you mention it, the sitting dialogues may not be implemented yet. Regi's a machine with the updates, so it's hard to keep up sometimes. Having said that, I'm pretty sure the raider quests ARE implemented though... I just checked in the CK... "Bad Customer" quest and triggers are there. Double checked globals are present and set correctly, so I don't know why they're not triggering.

Also, yea, the radio IS supposed to play before ever meeting/redeeming her with the "...this message will repeat in 10, 9, 8...". It has never played for me, but that might be because I use SKKFastStart maybe. I'll have to do a normal (boring) startup to double check. Bleh. LOL

EDIT cuz Regi responded while I was in the CK

I will try the 20 approaches method you mentioned and report back later.

In that case I should maybe change the trigger for the radio quest. If you find the mod that causes it not to activate, let me know. Several users have had this issue now and I was never able to reproduce it.

(Note: There's an option in the debug menu that sets the trigger to 20 talks, that should trigger the quest/convo as well!)

Uh oh.  Seems I've lost WIVS for some reason.  The station is still there, and I can still build radios, but there's nothing playing.  Just silence.  Might have been a couple other mods I recently added, because I'm pretty sure they messed up some other stuff.  I've since uninstalled them, and my other conflicts have been resolved, but not this.  Any idea how to get it back, short of reinstalling Ivy's whole mod again?

You can reinstall Ivy by just unzipping all files again, perhaps one of the script files is missing?

Ok, the approaches method seems to have worked. I did the Approach(activate)->Talk->That's All and Approach->Talk->Your Thoughts->That's All about a dozen times or so. My chat count global went up to 49 and then it all seemed to kick in at once. I got the Bad Customer quest and the Mutfruit quest. I can't remember in which order, but I couldn't complete the Mutfruit quest until after I had completed the Bad Customer quest even though I had given her 2 Mutfruit, 2 Jet, and 2 Prewar Gum. The objective text (as displayed in the upper left) read "Ivy needs Jet", but I think you mentioned already fixing that in 3.2, yea?

You give her the mutfruit/jet etc... through chat, not the trade dialogue. Once you have mutfruit, the dialogue option should come instead of the 'your thoughts' option. I'll look into checking her inventory but that has some real challenges.

- What happens to the quest when Ivy picks up fruit herself?

- What happens if she already has mutfruit/jet etc.. does the quest not run.. or should she ask for an 'extra' mutfruit or jet (or gum).

- Should I keep a count of these items, then stop the quest whenever it is increased by one?

When I was thinking about it, I figured that giving her the object through chat seemed more easy and logical (e.g. that's how the other companions do it). But I'll re-examine these quests, looking at how you approached them (through trade dialogue)

edit: Can someone point me to a FREE program, for Win 10, that I can use to record (and edit) videos so I can make some instructional videos and a proper Ivy introduction video, showcasing her features?

I've noticed a few times her requests for mutfruit would show dialogue about her needing jet. I just give her the fruit and complete it. Rather give her mutfruit instead of jet anyway. Besides that one little thing, her bad client quests and everything else seems to be working great. Been spending most of my time running around and taking with her. Preston and his group are still holed up in the museum and poor nick is still a prisoner in the vault. We'll try to get to them...eventually.

Yeah it's just the text for the quest that was borked. I've fixed it and will be releasing 3.2 coming weekend to address it.

(3.2. won't need a clean save)

Ah, that makes sense now that you've told me. I'm so used to how Heather wants Noodle Cups and Mutated Fern, so that's how I did it. I'll have to wait for another ingredient quest to pop again and go through the dialogue to completion and try to view what happens. I actually like your(Bethesda's) idea, as it would allow the PC to give the items and it NOT clutter the NPC's inventory especially in regards to weight issues (Survival). This way, the item is just removed from the PC's inv, stage is set to DONE, and you're back to pimpin' out IVY. No harm, no foul.

And in a stray thought... If Ivy were to ever bake me a mutpie, could I get it without the typhoid?

Since I have an Nvidia card, I use the included Shadowplay to record my game footage, so no advice there unfortunately. I also edit videos with Adobe (not free). You can edit with Blender or the more robust Davinci Resolve (Free/Lite) version. I haven't tried either, but Blender editing seems a bit clunky to me in comparison to Adobe Premiere. Depending on your needs, you could more than likely make do with Davinci Resolve. It is slightly handicapped at a max of two cores for processing though and some other quasi-critical features. The Studio version is only $299 (US) right now. I may end up picking it up at some point this year. As with everything, YMMV.

You add an inventory filter, as that link tells you and then when Ivy is given the fruit, so does something. You can specify WHERE the object came from, which is the important part, so that her just picking it up will do nothing.

IE:

Event OnItemAdded(Form akBaseItem, int aiItemCount, ObjectReference akItemReference, ObjectReference akSourceContainer)

if akBaseItem == Mutfruit && akSourceContainer == PlayerREF

...

In that fashion, it will only run your code on the condition that the player gave the fruit to her. And then inside that code, you can do a counter saying if count < x do this. Meaning, once it exceeds the count, it will no longer do its thing. This is precisely how Llama handles noodle cups and ferns for Heather.

Here is the pertinent code from Heather, for OnItemAdded, for Noodle Cups:

    ;noodle cup
    if akBaseItem == NoodleCup
        int NoodleCount = GetItemCount(NoodleCup)
        if NoodleCount > 0 && NoodleCount < 10
            if GetSitState() == 0
                SayCustom(llama_Topic_GivenNoodleCup, PlayerActor)
debug.trace(self + "gave less than 10 noodle cups")
            endif
        elseif NoodleCount > 9
            RemoveInventoryEventFilter(NoodleCup)
            if GetSitState() == 0
                SayCustom(llama_Topic_GivenNoodleCup, PlayerActor)
;affinity points awarded in quest stage after player talks to Heather about perk
            endif
        endif
    endif

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the detailed info! I'm going to try to implement this, then players can finish these quests both through dialogue, or the trade menu, whatever they prefer.

(edit) So I added a ref alias to the Jet quest (pointing to the reference alias in Ivy's companion quest), then attached this script to the alias, am about to test it out. ;)

(edit 2) Never mind! Got it to work! So cool when Ivy thanks you when you give her some Stimpaks! I'll extend this to what the player adds to his/her inventory, so Ivy can make specific remarks on certain objects the player picks up.

And in the next release you'll be able to finish the mini-fetch quests by either trading or talking to Ivy.

Ivy sometimes mentions her privates itching. Is it possible she might have std's ? Maybe a quest to get her antibiotics or something, if possible. Never really thought about it until she just mentioned it again a few minutes ago.

That penny was a long time in the air!

Great idea. I'm on it.

'Hey. I think I need to see a Doc...'

But with all these bad sides to prostitution I'm thinking it's going to need to have more positive sides as well, more caps, perhaps a perk...

'Pimp'.. CH +1 STR +1 for male players

'Madame'.. +25% Damage to males, CH +1 for female players

Effects count as long as Ivy's prostitution is enabled.
