Sweet, been looking forward to this. A great way to start off the weekend. Thank you very much for this

Yeah I figured a Friday release would be nice.

Most grateful Reginald, thank you!

You're welcome! Got the PM will be using some stuff in the future release!

I've been playing with her myself today. Need to add some more quest integration, some more location dialogue, then I'm ready to 'stamp' the vanilla version and I can start working on DLC integration.

ps: Ivy was a bad girl today.. (NSFW)

She had one glimpse of me...

Then it was done, and she couldn't help herself...

...and the last item on my list to make Ivy respond to my comments using Player Comments and Headtracking mod is now working without me doing a thing! Not sure if it is a change in dialouge scripting that did it, but, WOW what a huge difference. Happy days, mate.

I am really enjoying the new dialogue additions as well. Her conversations are seemingly more intimate and experiential. Her voice seems clearer and more articulate. Any changes to that, or am I just having a good audio day?

Thanks again for the insane amount of work. I am well and truly gob-smacked by your creative genius and implementations, Reginald. I just do not see another playthrough without Ivy ever again.

Please get yourself a Patreon acct. or something similar. I have guilt.

I added Ivy to the companionvoices faction, and some other factions to make life more compatible. I think the player comments/headtrack mod might need that to identify followers. I didn't change the voice though, no extra effects or anything added. :open_mouth:

No need for guilt, it's my hobby.

Hello. There was something in an earlier post I read about Ivy learning from things the player does and possibly being shaped by them. I was wondering if that was something you decided to go with and added to this update, or not. Just wondering, so I'd know if I might need to do a reinstall of her or anything. Thank you again for the update. It's amazing how you continue to make a wonderful character even better =)

Hey I had a thought that you might like to use, I cheated and consoled the voucher into my inventory, because I am playing on survival and using added mobs, so going to an area with stupor mutants this early in game is suicide. Then the thought hit me, It would have been epic if Ivy noticed that I was redeeming the voucher but the map marker for the voucher location wasn't revealed. and said something along the lines of "Well ain't you just a little cheater. can't even go pick up one little voucher before hopping on the Ivy train."

BTW Ivy has made me laugh out loud several times in only a few hours of game play. She is absolutely superb!

I just want to thank you for the greatest companion mod I've ever tried. It's been making my play through more fun then ever. Ivy truly out shines all vanilla companions. I've been using  3.0 and hoping to update to 3.1. If it breaks my save I won't mind starting over. On another note she doesn't seem to be compatible with AFT but works with Unlimited Companion Framework. and Better Companions together. Thanks again for a remarkable experience.

That hasn't been implemented yet as it's quite a challenge to. But it's definitely on the 'to-do'.

Yup. Cool idea. I'll check if I can implement it.

When all is said and done, I might load up those companion mods and will see if there is anything I can fix there to make Ivy more compatible. I've only ever tested her myself with the Best Friend (dogmeat companion) mod, that allows you to keep Dogmeat while traveling with other companions.

Ivy is far and away the best companion in this game, official or otherwise.  I'm so impressed with the amount of work that's gone into her.  I can't imagine the game without her, but I also can't afford to start a new game just to update her to 3.1.   I'm following your instructions, but how do I completely uninstall 3.0?  Can I safely just delete every file in my /data folder with her name?  Is there anything else I have to do before installing 3.1?

Overwriting should do the trick, no need to deinstall the scripts and whatnot, as long as the ESP is not active.

Awesome!  Thanks for the swift reply.  Looking forward to what you add to her in the future.

No prob. Be aware you still need to 'clean your save' with the old ESP inactive. ;)

(edit) Shit. So I'm playing with Ivy. All is cool and well. We're back home. We chat a little. And I sit down on the couch. She sits down on the couch next to me... And.... nothing... So I waited a bit. And she's sitting there, silently...  And then it hit me... If she's sitting. And you are sitting. And she's close enough... She needs to have specific idles for that.. start talking to you how she likes sitting with you, it's homely, or just start blurting out stories and whatnot...

But if she needs specific idles for that, it'll have to be at least another hundred.

Guess that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

(edit 2) Never mind.. Done!

Also found a small bug, Ivy asks for Mutfruit, but the Ivy Needs Jet quest activates. Will do some debugging for v3.2 <-- fixed, the proper quests are activating but the obejctive text wasn't updated from the template I made from the Jet quest.

I look forward to trying this mod again, with the fixes and enhancements.  It seems quite ambitious, and I hope it doesn't overwhelm you, as other such mods have for others in the past- I'm a veteran of the Middle-Earth mod for Oblivion era, if that means anything.  Just about brought down what would become nexus mods at the time.

Still, you might want to have a word with Brehanin from nexus mods about maybe creating a script or batch file to update saves where Ivy has been used without loosing progress or having to start from scratch.  He seemed to have great success doing so with his Better Vampire mods, upgrades to which always worked flawlessly for me, if I followed the instructions.  That way those of us who wish to enjoy Ivy, but not start a new game (for maximum stability) or clean a previous save with every new release would be able to upgrade  more easily.  It's a tall order for what you've already laid out, but it could also benefit you, as you would get more immediate feedback on updates, and better be able to sort what was caused by an errant command, or what might just be user error.

I wish you the best of luck on this, friend.

I was able to use the 3.0 version without problems, but I'm having trouble with the hair mod for 3.1.

Here's what I did:

I dismissed 3.0 Ivy and uninstalled the mod.

I then created a "clean" save.

I installed 3.1 Ivy and the 3.1 hair mod. She seemed to work fine, but I can' use "slm" to change her hair now. I tried some combinations such as installed the hair 3.0 first and then the 3.1, or just using the hair 3.0, but nothing seemed to work.

When I checked the mods, I noticed that the hair mod is grayed out. Fallout gives me the error that a dependency for the hair mod is missing.

I have all the required mods installed: it was working fine with 3.0.

Any thoughts on what's going on?

Thanks!

I'm having some issues updating to 3.1. I got all my stuff and dismissed Ivy and all that, made a new save in diamond city and quit to desktop. Then, I uninstalled her from MO, but when I try to Launch F4SE at all, it just doesn't work. I get an infinite loading screen instead of the main menu. Ivy was the only change I made. Any ideas on a fix?

Have you tried dismissing Ivy? That has been an AFT problem.

I ask because the chance that you have tried to dismiss Ivy is small...

I'm building in phases. Looks like I'm still on track.

I'm focussing on content and the growing pains are nearly done. For instance, I expect the 3.2 update not to require a clean save. I've already been looking in on maybe fixing this. Bethesda does it by running hidden quests on game start, that run once on certain conditions.

I was thinking of setting up the same thing for Ivy, setup any missing variables or scripts through a startup quest that runs once. But really, I am just upgrading Ivy on the fly in my load and it's working fine. The warning about clean saves is just for the modders out there that have little experience with modding.

In fact, I suspect that with the NX-2C controller holotape you can simply reset any needed variables for any 'borked' save.

So the process for experience modders to upgrade Ivy would be:

- Save and exit game.

- Unzip the upgrade

- Load the game, dismiss Ivy, sleep for 24 hours in another cell to reload her quest dialogue

- Load the NX-2C controller tape, reset her quest and other variables, recruit her through the tape.

Not really. Likely one of the mods got updated. I propose you make your own merge mod in Fo4Edit so you can customize her looks. For now, the hairaddon is just an extra that's unsupported.

I found the cause for this, my EasyGirl mod has become borked due to some experimentation on my side (I wanted to fix the 1st person gloves) accidentally it now referenced the Kite Scoopdiggers outfit. I've removed the reference and have updated the CompanionIvy_Hairaddon.7z file!

Updated in the files section of the download.

Attached to this post for ease.

If you were using the CompanionIvy_Hairaddon.esp, download the latest version, this removes a bad reference to a master file (see the quote above)

If you are not using that addon, I don't see how anything within Ivy can cause this. She does not use F4SE or F4SE stuff. I've had this issue myself with mods when I was missing files, models, textures, anything like that. I've also had it happen once and then a reboot was enough to fix it..

Even though Ivy might be the last thing that's changed, that doesn't mean she's the cause, she's just an extra NPC, nothing in there that could cause this kind of behavior, look towards one of your other mods or you'll be spending a lot of time debugging this one. :open_mouth:

Some things to check:

- Does it also happen when you only disable Ivy's ESP?

- Can you unzip the contents of the esp into the fallout4 folder, overwrite any existing files and see if the problem remains?

- If you manually installed, can you try installing through NMM or another mod manager?

- What happens when you move Ivy up in the load order?

- What happens when you move Ivy down in the load order?

So I implemented 91 regular idles and 37 sexy idles when both the player and Ivy sit on a seat or bench. She starts saying them as soon as you sit down, and she says a new line after every 40 in game minutes (around 40 seconds realtime). If only she is sitting and the player stands, she will ask the player to join her.

It's like a new form of the 'your thoughts' dialogue. Just sit down with Ivy, make sure she's close enough, and she'll start chatting away. It really adds to the immersion!

This reminds me of something important I forgot to mention since the beginning. Many of Ivy's chatter routines are based on ingame time passed. This means that if you fiddle with the TIMESCALE command, and make it lower than 30.. it will mean Ivy will speak less idle chatter in real time. If you speed up the TIMESCALE through the console, she will become 'chattier'.

Always make sure that your ingame timescale is set to the default, which is 30.

I thought you found her? Go into the root cellar in the back of Sanctuary, and make sure you have activated the quest in your pipboy. After turning the radio on it can take a couple of seconds.
