I've been quite busy lately so I'm a bit late on the whole Halloween thingy, but managed to get some pics done. This is part 1, supposed to be like the gang getting ready for the party and spending the day taking some simstagram pics: 

 

 

Also with special guests Jillian Braun & Rita Valenta (I love mixing up other people's sims with my own ?)

Nice to see I'm not only one prone to set up big party scenarios like that! I also see you got alot of the same costumes I got while looking earlier this month, though I actually ended up not using most of them, preferring mostly for the costumes in the party scenario I set up to look a bit less elaborate I guess you could say, so I instead tried to make approximations of costumes using a combination of different clothes and accessories, instead of going for full cosplay sets.

There's only a certain amount of good halloween costumes out there so trying to make up your own ones seems to be the better option. Therefore I was VERY impressed by your costumes. I also can't imagine the amount of hours it took you to shoot and edit that video. Absolutely amazing work, like I said, very impressed. 

Also, you need a name for that girl? Is she Jozie's sister? If I remember correctly Jozie is supposed to be of east-european ethnicity so maybe Helen or Elena. If you want a north american name, the name that pops into my head when looking at her is Ruby.

I found it's at least the better option if you want the costumes to look more like just a costume someone would wear to a party and not like accurate, elaborate cosplay of a movie/video game character or just 100% that character's outfit with all details. Hence me opting for a low-effort Freddy-esque outfit for Jason (sim in my avatar) rather than using the actual Freddy Krueger outfit I found googling (which also just kind of looked bad), and some other examples here and there of sims not dressing necessarily as anything specific but it being sort of recognizably a costume.

Yeah, I'm looking for a name for her. I actually had her saved as "Raven" but I thought that was a little too on-the-nose, I don't really think a name has to "fit" a sim's look/personality as such, but I do feel like I have to at least sort of like it. Ruby is actually kind of cool, I also had Aryn suggested to me somewhere else. She's Jozie's friend at least, not her sister or relative, genetically (in game mechanics) they don't have much to do with each other and don't share much in way of common traits except the brown eyes and dark eyebrows/roots anyway, I'm probably just gonna leave her as a friend. Last name can be basically whatever yeah, currently I've got a randomized one, "Demaris" (I think it's Greek? Though keep in mind that's a random, not a conscious choice).

Working on everyday and sleepwear outfits for this sim, any thoughts? Anything obvious that's missing? Somethign that should be added or replaced? Looking at it now, I'm not that sure about the first hot weather outfit, the skirt there doesn't feel quite right I think.

I'm certainly not a person to suggest how you CAS your sims but since you're looking for opinions (and this is unrelated to clothing) her head looks a little big for the rest of her body. It's a little distracting but that's just my opinion so you can take that with a grain of salt.

Otherwise, I agree with your assessment about the skirt. Maybe a different pair of shorts or another skirt?

That's probably because I use a height slider, a rather simple one which basically just scales the entire sim. I try to compensate some in terms of head size and some other sliders (hips, arms, etc.) when I make sims that are taller or shorter than average so they don't just look like they've been hit by a growth/shrink spell or something. That said, I'll look at resizing it slightly. 

 

 

EDIT: A simple change, still a denim skirt (there's some plaid skirts that also look decent, but I thought maybe I'd try some denim ones first), but I think maybe this looks better?

I appreciate that fact that you'd take my suggestion under consideration. I didn't want to come across as nit-picky but what I was seeing was that her head was almost as wide as her waist. I very much appreciate feedback so don't worry about that, even if I also tend to try to defend my choices (but again having to do that is useful in itself). Differences might not be immediately apparent here as I made very slight adjustments. I think part of the impression you have of the head being almost as wide as her waist might be from the hairstyle, though I decided maybe I could also try to make her body slightly wider. Again emphasis here on the slightly, small changes all around.

While the hair would create the illusion of a bigger head, I was concentrating on her face. That's always the part of any sim that grabs my immediate attention. I really like the adjustments you made so I'll shut up now.

Here's formal (1) and party (2-5) outfits, more or less happy here I think. Still room for more outfits in formal and 1 in party, though I never really set a goal of having to fill out those categories. Though some additional formal outfits might be neat, maybe something "casual formal"?
 

 

And athletic, sleep, swimwear and cold weather outfits. Also not much need for change or addition I think, maybe an additional, bit more wintery, cold weather outfit could be nice
