Out of all unlikeable characters in game, i think i hatethis fool the most. I do not even care that he screwed the guild, his attitute and arogance makes me want to murder him on the spot. But now, with PAHE, after killing him, you can ressurect him, and train as guilds pet, or lock him in cage in guild or whatever. I admit, that helps. I have Aerin in Cage infront of his/Mjoll/mine house, after AA quest ; d

To be absolutly honest with you, i kinda like Mercer. True he is an asshole but he has an agenda and his plan was not that bad. Minus the screw a deadra over part. And i hate nocturnal and would screw with her too? So no guild pet for me, but aerin.. Well i have some screens a few pages back. He paid his bill ?

he does mention in Snow Veil that he felt a wind blowing  change in the wind when Brynjolf brought you to him. I think that was part of why he sends you to Goldenglow so quickly... he hoped you'd get killed.   His real problem was not trying to kill you some other way before you got any further. He wouldn't (or doesn't appear) to know about Karliah's plans and so wouldn't have a "I'll let her kill you and pin that also on her" plot going.
