installing AAF turned out to be a bit confusing, so i created an FOMOD that contains all files form the download page and i made sure that the desciption for the DoF patch gives the information, that it's not needed when using ignotum_virum's Edition.

i thought about including a warning when an installation of FourPlay is detected but left it out for now.

if someone thinks that's a good idea, then it can be added at any given time.

Hope this makes installing this - as anghelos92 already said - essential mod a tad easier.

Thanks for this.  I made an attempt recently to try out AAF and due to my own failure, I did it wrong.  Being a bit lazy, I just reverted back to FP/FP Patch.  With a little extra direction or assistance I'm sure I'd be right on track.  I appreciate your idea/work.  Good stuff.

I like what your doing but we need other mod authors to either patch or totally remake their mods to work with this before a lot of people will come on board.  There is still lots of mods that require the original Four play and Four play patch to work with their mods. Some of those that I use are https://www.loverslab.com/topic/93793-magno-cum-gaudio-wear-and-tear-attributes-and-statistics/ and https://www.loverslab.com/topic/87051-family-planning-enhanced/.  https://www.loverslab.com/topic/95728-four-play-attributes-framework-4132018/ which requires Four Play to work which is a requirement of https://www.loverslab.com/topic/96132-four-play-sexual-harassment-4192018/.  I'm also using https://www.loverslab.com/topic/87993-rse-realistic-salacious-encounters-v372-04-19-18/. I know how to build computers being as I've built all my gaming Desktops but I don't know how to do the magic everyone else does on coding and all these great mods that are on here or nexus.  I've tried to use AAF along side the Four Play Mods but the proxy doesn't work most of the time and neither does DOF patch being as another mod is interfering with that one. I would totally move over here if at least Magno-cum and Family Planning Enhanced and Sexual Harassment would work being as I'm a believer in what your doing but after 1 1/2 years of redoing FO4 and deleting old saves and/ or cleaning them to restart a new game for each updates being as their coding doesn't allow for just a load in NMM and go on with your game it's gets frustrating to say the least. I thank you for your patients and for you doing this mod it is much needed.

Thank you for doing this!

I didn't see the ignotum edition of DOF. It definitely would be preferrable to have versions like that instead of a zillion patches to go along with AAF.

Is a FOMOD easy to re-use for new builds? I'd like to take steps to make this easier to install for every build. But, at this stage, I don't want the packaging process to take time away from bug fixing and features.

Please let me know the part(s) that are confusing so I can try to update the docs and make them easier to follow.

Thank you Badtanker.

I'm hopeful that we can at least get most of those mods working through the proxy. This NPC AI bug has kicked my ass over the last few days. But, I think that I've made some progress on it finally. That may get a lot of these working properly.

Is a FOMOD easy to re-use for new builds? I'd like to take steps to make this easier to install for every build. But, at this stage, I don't want the packaging process to take time away from bug fixing and features.

The folder structure of the archive follows the bain standard:
00 Base           = Will always be installed and is no chooseable option.

10 Four-Play Proxy

20 Dongs of Fallout Patch

30 Source Scripts = Seperated out to avoid cluttering up the data folder with unneeded files.

99 Docs           = The documentation.

FOMOD             = All FOMOD related files and home of the Mod Organizer option of the installer.

One folder per install option and all folders contain the folders and files as they are to be installed into the data folder (meaning no Data folder inside).

So as long as you don't want to remove or add options, you can simple replace the contents of the folders with updated ones, repackage everything and you're golden.

Just make sure that the archive doesn't have a folder with these folders as subfolders.

And if you want any changes done to it, then fell free to tell me wich and i update the installer script according to your needs in it.

P.s.: Maybe ignotum allows packaging his version of DoF with AAF? Would make things even easier for users.

Thank you. Seems pretty straight forward. I will work on incorporating that into the build process.

I assume that this works in both NMM and Mod Manager the same way? Or, no?

FOMOD's work in NMM, Vortex, MO and (if the info.XML is cut down heavily) even in FOMM.

4 hours ago, dagobaking said:

Also, is there a builder tool for making the FOMOD XML? Or, do those have to be put together manually?

There are but the generated scripts are subpar.

Your're ofc free to take over my upload and modify it as you see fit and i'm always willing to create the XML script for you, so can can focus on more interessting stuff.

having a slight problem, if someone could interpret the debug log, animations not playing for npc's and for my toon, just goes to a load screen and comes back in TFC mode, trying to find the conflicting mods that are blocking animations, thanks for your time

Can you try it with just AAF from a new game? Then gradually turn the other mods on and test?

just found it AFT https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26976

            Heather https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23273

Both were blocking animations, guessing scripts in the mods play havok, thanks for the reply

Cool! This is really helpful information. I'll look into it to see if there is a fix. Or, at least include a non-compatible list to save people the trouble.

I need an issue tracking site. Anyone know of any good, free, public solutions for that? Does github include free issue tracking for public users?

Heather is designed to work with https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11829 Unlimited Companion Framework not AFT. I'm using her now but with https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25699?tab=files Liga of my Companions but thinking on going back to UCF because of less hassle with other mods. Also using Ellen the cartographer and Kira https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18308 in ESL with no problems. There are some mods like Magna Cum and few others that aren't designed to handle multiple followers so it ends up using the first follower that you accept as the one who does everything instead of going down the line from the one that's busy to the next one that's not and so on.

Silly question, but how do you get that debug log to show in game?

Go to "Data>AAF>AAF_settings.xml" and change the value for debug_mode from "false" to "true" and save. Then the debug window will stay up when you load the game.

It may not output much if things are going ok. If the mod times out it will spit out a bunch of data like that to try and help troubleshoot.

Yes, Ellen works great, but never used Kira. Heather will work with AFT, load order is the key, placing Llama's ESP below AFT did the trick. Tinkering now with my Load order to see if i can get AAF to play nice. Nora, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24680, works as well. If all else fails, I will follow your lead, thanks fro the info

@dagobaking Btw: if you ever downloaded my FOMOD and wondered about the iNi file it installs, this file containes the iNi tweak mentioned in the description.
FO4 can load ini Tweaks if there's an iNi file with the name of the plugin next to the plugin and apply those automaticly. No need to edit Fallout4Custom.iNi.

Ahh so its part of your mod then as I didn't think vanilla FO4 could do that like FONV could in console

I saw that. That is very useful as I imagine that requirement holds a lot of people up.

Correct. I set it up so I could trace live from Flash while the game is running.

i hope not but using the vanilla method, one doesn't have to do manual edits or revert them when the mod is uninstalled/deactivated, so it's my preferred method.

New build posted. See the file notes for changes.

There was definitely blood and tears built into this version. I still expect some bugs to be remaining. But, I'm hoping this is a big step forward toward stability.

@CGi if you are still up to it, send me a FOMOD version when you have a chance and I will post that. At a later stage, I will most likely start doing the FOMOD as well when it is farther between builds. But, for now, with frequent builds, I prefer to stay focused on features and bugs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Installing the latest AAF onto a game that was saved with an older version of AAF may not work. My experience was that the home key wouldn't work in that case. So, a new game or one that wasn't saved with AAF in the past may be required.

Any wishes what should be part of the installer?
i imagine we could bundle in the latest version of the FP Community F4SE Plugin and ignotums DoF version.
And i could add a detection for a possible FP installation and warn the user or even straight abort the installation after showing a warning.
Many possiblities so go wild with your requests.

Thank you!

It should include a note about needing at least one animation pack to do anything. And it wouldn't hurt to include the usage instruction of pressing "HOME" to bring up the wizard. From there, I've tried to include UI instructions to guide players in game.

@jaam s FP Community F4SE Plugin usage terms:

Quote

This is a community resource. It can be used in any way you wish in any mod.

The released version can be re uploaded on other sites as needed but please do not duplicate on this site.
Any part of the source code not provided as part of F4SE can be reused in your own work as you wish.

I think that means it is ok to include in the package as Four Play does. But, want to make sure that is not "duplicating on this site"?

For DOF, AAF only needs the body nif and the json sliders. It doesn't need the esp or any scripts. So, a re-pack is preferable to the patch. Not sure if that is what ignotums version is?

I want to keep DOF and related patches separate from the AAF install for a few reasons. One, AAF can change morphs on any body with morphs. So, I want that to be clearly an open possibility for modders. If a body is packed with it, it may not be clear that it will work with anything but DOF. Second, AAF is technically not an adult mod by itself. I want to avoid packaging it with explicit content to keep that status in the hopes that modders with non-adult ideas will make use of it also. I plan on posting it at Nexus at some point.

It is a tough call regarding FP. A lot of people do seem to be unsure about whether or not they need FP installed. Since the proxy over-writes the main ways to connect to FP, it doesn't seem like it would cause harm to have it installed. But, not 100% sure about that and its never a good practice to have parts of mods installed that aren't doing anything. I almost think that the 4P proxy needs to be a separate fomod....?

@CGi

What do you think about a two FOMOD system?

One for the main AAF system + LLFP (if ok to pack) and instructions about dependencies (F4SE and LooksMenu). Documentation and source here also.

Then, a second "AAF Patch Pack" that includes the patches, proxy, possibly DOF and instructions for those along with a note about not needing FP installed, etc.?
