xenic Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I was playing around with Tales of Two Wastelands and it made me want Fallout 4 and Skyrim to be linked in a similar fashion. I honestly don't even know if it could be done. I really like Fallout's characters but really like Skyrim's setting. Imagine a dragon just randomly showing up in the commonwealth or a deathclaw popping prowling around Whiterun. I'm honestly not sure it I just want want lots of Skyrim ported into Fallout 4. It's a fun thought though.
Akzyra Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Connecting the games? NOPE, sorry.. They are way to different. TotW is only possbile as it is the same engine. Yes, even SSE. It is a freak child of Oldrim and some improvements from FO4. Porting a deathclaw would be possible, but not allowed as assets can only used in the game they are from. I read that how they did dragons in Skyrim is kinda hacked together, so... probably not really doable. But we might see some monster mods, I am thinking of Deathclaw variants that are really a variant, not just textures/shaders. And lots more animals that should be there, even if mutated. As for porting mods, as long as it isn't vanilla Skyrim assets, someone will hopefully do the job. Some armours are done. And if someone figures out how we un-dumb the melee system, combat might be similar.
xenic Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 Yeah, I realize it's more so just a fun thought. Now, land dragons would be doable as a form of mutated deathclaw or mutated Mirelurk.
KoolHndLuke Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Yeah, I realize it's more so just a fun thought. Now, land dragons would be doable as a form of mutated deathclaw or mutated Mirelurk. Naahh. I would think that assets from Skyrim could be done legally so long as they are not exact copies. The melee combat would be great - as mentioned. You could probably have robots in Skyrim so long as they look and sound a little different. Ultimately the decision would be up to the site hosts as to whether they might present a "legal" problem. If they just had better BBP in FO4- I'd be happy.
Halstrom Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 How many asset related to creatures would be usable in FO4 CK from the Skyrim folder I wonder. Do Skyrim creature files and animations work in FO4? I suspect people have already tried with no success.

I know someone did the Whiterun guard armor, not a creature I know, but still cool.
D_ManXX2 Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Fallout and skyrim are to different games in order to link the too. how is dragon going to look in post apocoliptic world ?? or better yet how are missles or rocker launchers look in skyrim ?? or magic character popping up in fallout this does not make any sense. If the too games where similar then yes like oblivion to skyrim and fallout 3 to fallout 4.

The OP is asking about modifying games and if she/he wants to see Sky and FO4 linked then I'm certainly not going to say thats silly.

Many do, (insert body files here ) but technically you can't grab meshes or textures from one game and port them to another game even from the same company regardless of the "changes" done to it . At least not and be fully legal. Most times the companies look a blind eye to those minor changes done from assets from the same company but they can always say something and the sites will listen... even if it isn't founded on fact. There are sites that deal in more along the lines of actual ports but most gaming sites refrain from this and will remove any files that they find that can remotely be viewed as a port even if the files have been changed and not exact copies. The best practice is to use new files that have been created by the community to do such projects. Takes a bit more time but afterward they can be used for whatever games that float your boat. Assets from Fallout through to Skrim wouldn't be much of a problem short of conversion and placing in the world space.
Halstrom Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Yeah some stuff like Dragons aren't needed when you have Deathclaws but I wouldn't mind the horses and spiders into FO4
panthercom Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I wouldn't mind seeing some horses in FO4, and I don't mean on the barbecue grill. I just think Nuka World should have a dog and pony show
Benmc20 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 It may be feasible, but would be very hard though. If I remember correctly, some analysis showed traces (more than that) of Skyrim characterisctics like "block" in the FO4 code as "unused; So, why not ?

That way its not breaking Beths copyright, it just means people have to have Skyrim installed for it to work. Or if we got tricky something that copied all the data needed into a new BSA in FO4 like TTW did for FONV/FO3.

Skyrim Meshes are not working in FO4. Textures are different too. And don´t forget about animations... I have thought about adding Horses to the game, but i think its currently impossible because we can´t load(add) custom behavior files for a race.

Thanks for letting us know, I had a horrible feeling that was the case, or I expect people would have done it? I don't suppose Skyrim SE is any different?
Benmc20 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 It may be different because of same generation of engine than Fallout 4. But there isn't any FOSE for the SkyrimSE right now.
Vader666 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Thanks for letting us know, I had a horrible feeling that was the case, or I expect people would have done it?I don't suppose Skyrim SE is any different? After thinking about it again, it should be possible to add new behaviors for a new race, since you can set up a project and skeleton in the race form... Not sure if SSE stuff could be used,i haven´t looked at it, chances are it´s using the same havok version like FO4 which means it might be possible to re-use the havok stuff from it.
elQuanto Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 What about the static meshes? What if we (the LL forums) created a bizarro custom world and lore in the FO4 engine to create a science fantasy game with guns, using a combinations of Skyrim and FO4 assets?
KoolHndLuke Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 What about the static meshes? What if we (the LL forums) created a bizarro custom world and lore in the FO4 engine to create a science fantasy game with guns, using a combinations of Skyrim and FO4 assets? Wow. I really like that idea!! that gives rise to so many possibilities! New types of weapons with more dynamic characteristics. New types of chars or enemies like hybrid or cross- species. It would quite literally change these two games far beyond most mods released to date!! Once a tried and true "method" is established -that is.

panthercom Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I'd be happy with horses and demons in Fallout 4, and being able to make people look as good as you can in Skyrim. The women in FO4 are fucking ugly, and I can't do a damn thing about it with the available tools. I've stopped playing because I can't get my character to look the way I want.

The women in FO4 are fucking ugly, and I can't do a damn thing about it with the available tools. I've stopped playing because I can't get my character to look the way I want. AMEN to this. I participate in the (very very few) Korean Skyrim forums and many many say that there are several reasons why they can't get into Fallout 4: 1. Wasteland is not as attractive as an enchanted world 2. The setting is too heavily emphasized (obviously in America as opposed to a make believe world like Tamriel) 3. And the BIGGEST complaint: The woman looking horrendous with a lack of proper customization. Don't get me wrong, I've seen many many beautiful characters being created using the provided tools. But for many Koreans (and honestly the Chinese and Japanese) emphasis is placed on more asian like characteristics. A lot of you guys might think "Oh she's just talking about having waifus and loli characters running about", but it goes beyond that. Someone in LoversLab said "Where there's waifus, there's modders." Not sure to what extent that is true but I imagine Fallout 4 having a larger interest if users are able to completely customize their characters the way they like with the tools RaceMenu and ECE provided. Otherwise you have a game where 99% of all the characters looks Western (with good reason of course, it's a game in the USA) and many players AND modders from Asia have zero interest because of that. Seems like many of them can forego the setting if only they can have their cuter and Asian-esque characters, including myself. With all RP games, I like to emulate my appearance but sadly I can't. There's a user here that was able to import the Khajit face and body onto Fallout 4. I reckon it'd at least be possible to import their fave faces from Skyrim to FO4? This is something I've been looking into but it seems many people here don't have the interest to do so.
Halstrom Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 3. And the BIGGEST complaint: The woman looking horrendous with a lack of proper customization. They obviously never playedFO1, FO2, FO3, Oblivion, Sims or FONV then

Which is why Skyrim is the most modded game to date. But I would argue against Oblivion because they certainly had their shoujo races and waifu mods there.
