Deviously Cursed Wasteland 1.4 (2017-11-27)

I'm using this mod for the first time.  Got belted, got a quest to find Jack.  Talked to a NPC, who sent me to the drive-in settlement.  There's a note on the ground with a quest marker on it that my character can move around a little by kicking it when I walk over it, but I can't pick it up to read it.  Anybody know how to remedy this?  If i can't pick up the note then what's the console command to skip to the next part of the quest?

Hey all,

The console commands don't seem to work for me.  Anyone else having that issue?

Which ones, specifically?

If you want to change the settings / drop chances,
I'd recommend using "Deviously Cursed Menu"

note: there's a repacked version on the last page of its support thread for use in Vortex mod manager
https://www.loverslab.com/topic/99313-deviously-cursed-menu/?do=findComment&comment=3619836
(I use that one, works fine here)

Thanks for the reply!  I am using that repack, but it only sets most of the values to a max of 5, and I'm looking to set them higher.  These are the ones I've tried:

- dcw_cursedlootchance
- dcw_keydropchance
- dcw_keylosechance
- dcw_restraintsdropchance

The error I get for any of the commands is "Script command "dcw_cursedlootchance" not found"

- dcw_cursedlootchance

Because you use it wrong

Command is

set dcw_cursedlootchance to 5

where 5 is any number in interval 0 - 100

UPD: But if you use MCM it every time will reset value to value in MCM as you change something in DCW MCM. To avoid it you need uninstall DCW MCM

or, instead of uninstalling DCW-Menu:
modify the MCM config for DCW

open the "config.json" (should be in  "...\Fallout 4\Data\MCM\Config\Deviously Cursed Wasteland")

and set the min/max to an appropriate range

i.e. line 76 ff

Quote

        "text": "Cursed Loot Chance",
        "type": "slider",
        "help": "Percent chance of a container having a cursed loot trap.",
        "valueOptions": {
            "min": 0.0,
            "max": 5.0,

            "step": 0.05,
            "sourceType": "GlobalValue",
            "sourceForm": "Deviously Cursed Wasteland.esp|077AAB"

I read the description a total of 6 times and now i realsie whats happening, there is an actual quest in this right? one that gives you a questmarker and appears in your questlog right? No wonder i was looking through the command console like an idiot, im using start me up also  i broke this mod i guess, jacks dead ( He can thank piper for that, she tried to rape me via sexual harrasement, to which i responded by deleting diamond city off the map(figuratevly) with a mod that gives me a weapon that fires the prewar nuke

!ALSO I DID FIND AN INCOMPATABILITY, THIS MOD REALLY DOESNT LIKE AAF VIOLATE!)

sometimes when i loot a container i get a message that a restraint has been added.  but sometimes there's a little explosion, the camera goes into 3rd person mode, my character falls over, a restraint is visibly added, i get a message that a restraint has been added, and my character doesn't stand back up again.  i can turn the pip boy light on and off, i can bring up the pc console, and i can bring up the menu to reload that game, but that's it.  otherwise my character is completely stuck and immobile.

is there a way to turn off "little explosion" way of getting restraints?  if not, does anyone have any suggestions about how i can get my character to move?

And what then you want? You killed main DCW NPC for all quests in DCW. UPD:

Spoiler

Jack not main NPC, in Diamond city is other main NPC for all quests. Seems is dead too.

Of course it is. Both mods use Combat surrender. So turn off in one mod this or configure in that way that in one time triggers only one combat surrender. Also if combat surrender tp you to Diamod city before you enter it by main quest The belted! quest is broken. This not a way to use game by cheating.

Turn off mod what do it. Definitely it's not DCW.

What i failed to realsie is that the quest was never gonna trigger in the first place, since i use alt start but i dont use it to skip the intro, i play someone else entirely, so that doesnt actually matter, also i didnt realise that your mod adds a surrender function, but everything is fixed now (well apart from jack being dead, i aint gonna start a new char just to get that quest, i just use your mod for all the othe stuuf it adds)

you can make it through Belted by level 2 = lots of sneaking and running from all fights.

or you can fight everything and end up about level 8-15.

personal take on how hard it is to sneak though the spots Belted sends you to

Spoiler

getting to DC the first time - varies depending on luck at fight location one (i almost never have to fight to get to DC)

go to Sanctuary and use the workshop (to prevent possible bug not letting you have it later), then head to DC.

there will (should) be a fast marker (Trading Post) near DC.

go to Trading Post (free veggies/nuka colas) head eastward along the road (this will take you past Chestnut Hillock Resevoir to the south) to the bridge

          fight location one is from the Resevoir to the road you are walking on and at low level usually it is 2 different groups of Scavers, Raiders, Gunners, Bots, Super Mutants

          they will attack you if they see you, but if you wait until they are fighting each other you can usually sneak (or run) past without them engaging you.

turn south at the bridge (north over the bridge will lead you past Wreck of the Riptide) you will cross a small bridge then come to a intersection (fight location 2) where

          usually some DC Guards are fighting some Super Mutants (they are not always fighting). if they are fighting just keep going and usually you will be ignored.

about halfway to the gate is a good spot to make a hard save (so Piper has not started talking yet).  i personally save as soon as i can see the bus gate (the path through

          the bus where you hang a left to approach DC main gate).

follow the instructions by javamonsoon for getting into DC and continuing the Belted quest

Red Rocket Truck Stop - no sneaking/fighting needed, just walk/run grab what you need and leave

Fraternal Post 115 - no fighting needed can just sneak in get what you need and sneak out

Wattz Electronics - no sneaking/fighting needed, just walk in get it and get out

ArcJet Systems - can sneak through (go through the storage room when you are facing when you open the first upstairs door) if choose to fight there are 2 protectrons and 3                 laser turrets you will face going through the main hallways on the second floor

Kendall Hospital - very hard to sneak through the first floor (has about 4-6 raiders), but easy to sneak through second floor to get what you need

Super Duper Mart - very hard to sneak through, just ghouls if fighting.  if you want minimal fight route (and can hack an advance terminal) go in through the back by hacking                 the terminal to get in through the super duper mart garage. going in the back will let you (potentially) have to get past 3/4 less ghouls

back to DC to talk to John again

Beantown Brewery - hard to sneak through, but can get in and out (done right) without actually fighting.  fight route if taken slowly and carefully can be done by killing total                   of 3 raiders and 2 radroaches.  my method for 0 fights is sneak past first raider to upstairs room (has 2 raiders) with the novice locked door you have to get past, then                 as soon as the raiders spot you, run to the door, pick the door, run into the next room (around the hole in the floor) and put note in toolbox, drop through hole in                     floor and run outside, fast travel immediately (or run jump in the river and swim away if you cannot fast travel).

back to Sanctuary/Vault 111 - no fighting

of course if using bugsethda survival mode this will be much harder due to no fast travel possible/other things it does.

after completing Belted play as you wish and then either after dealing with Kellog or reaching level 25(ish) or greater you will find a note in random loot

(Instructions regarding Alice Jones).  read the note and the Alice in Wasteland quest will start.  when you do that quest is totally up to you at this point.

hope the information helps or is useful

Do you have AWKCR, it's still a requirement for DCW.

My apologies!! I uploaded the wrong hot fix!

I updated the file with the correct one, which does NOT require AWKCR. And cleaned a Creation Kit bug out of it just now.

Combat surrender is off by default now, that causes sooooo many issues.

Note: there's a conflict with RC9 in the hobble speed. To avoid it when running the belted quest do the following.
While in pre war Sanctuary, open The Devious Devices MCM and set the Hobble speed setting to 5.

IF you do it after waking up, it causes a compounding speed increase every time you switch from 1st/3rd person.

Thanks for doing this! I wanted to add DCW to the Wasteland of Depravity modpack but I didn't have a clue how to remove dependencies.

Man, it would be dope if someone injected also KFT devices in the list.

if you are primarily interested in the traps, and can live without the quests that DCW adds:
Cursed DD Enchantings - Redux² supports KFT - but it does require the RC9 version of DD.

Anyone got this to work with 980+, aka NG?

Torture Devices seems to work, I can build, mount and get NPCs to mount.

Devious Devices is iffy. It seems to add stuff, the mod menu is there, the devices are in the console, but they don't seem to appear. Console gives them to you, but they don't appear when equipped. The workbench isn't in the Raiders menu. Some restraints work, some don't.

DCW is not working. It says it's loaded, the menus work, but no events trigger.

I assume it's dead for anything 163+, can anyone confirm?

They work fine for 163. So downgrade and enjoy a more stable and enjoyable game.

About the main questline - I seem to recall that after you get the belt removed, the lady would get trapped in a slave collar and ask for your help escaping. How does that quest trigger?

After a few days, forget the exact timer, but if you go talk to John again he'll give you the quest. IF I remember right. 💫

2 requirements for that to trigger after fully completing Belted

1 - passage of time (i think it is like 3 days)

2 - either be level 25 or have dealt with Kellog

then a note will start appearing in various loot sometimes very fast and other times very slow (gotta love Beth RNG)

Hmmm...I'm over level 25 but haven't progressed to Kellog yet. Maybe that's what the holdup is.

provided you fully finished Belted (got the completion message) 3 game days ago and are over 25, what should happen

is there will be a note "Instructions regarding Alice Jones" found in random loot, raider corpses are usually best for this, but

other loot can have it appear as well.  anything that changes what loot drops may cause it to not drop depending on how it

changes loot selection.

Beth shitty RNG can cause it to take a long time sometimes.

if you want to kickstart the quest without waiting for it to appear naturally you can add a copy of that note to your inventory,

then drop it and pick it up again to start the quest.

note = quickloot mods may not start the quest just by grabbing the note as you do have to read it for it to start.

the quest starts by reading the note, not grabbing it IIRC, but to grab it normally you have to read it so it works.
