Does that mean you are also not an expert or are these the "jokes" I've heard so much about? Don't start Twitter drama you aren't willing to finish Grey. I do not have to have met Rowling, I am not commenting on what she did or did not say. I am commenting on people thinking they are qualified to judge some one they know nothing about other than the crap they get off, e.g., social media. Also I took a couple of minutes to check my facts and posted a link to my source. I'll take the win in the 'flame war' as the two clowns have run out of anything to say and are now trying to be funny. 3 hours ago, chocula said: Or I could say "And some person put their dick in a popcorn bucket," then J.K. You started your reply to me with a disingenuous remark trying to be clever, so I replied with an absurd text wall because I didn’t think you deserved a serious response. I was fine letting the topic go since I don’t really want to talk about a celebrity for more than a few posts, but since you apparently want to keep going… Here’s a list of instances where Rowling expressed her anti-trans views. You should note that Rowling identifies as a TERF (trans-exclusive radical feminist), so has made being anti-trans a key aspect of who she is as a person. She is also a public figure with a huge audience. Her saying anything comes with a level of sway that the average person doesn’t have. Let’s not act like saying something on social media is somehow lesser than saying the same thing out in public, especially given how ubiquitous social media is in society. It’d be one thing if she said that she no longer holds her views from x amount of years ago, but she’s instead doubled down on them. Rowling has used her position as a public figure to try to shape policy whenever the topic of gender is the focus. As an individual, she’s obviously allowed to do this, but her level of fame places her in the same vein as other celebrities who use their platform to promote/denounce policies. Public figures will, and absolutely should, be scrutinized for how they attempt to use their influence. Rowling also has gone after two female athletes, Imane Khelif and Barbara Banda, and falsely labeled them as being trans. Her reason for doing this? These ladies were apparently too good at the sport they played. So much for caring about real women. So when I say that J.K. Rowling won’t shut up about trans people, it’s because she actually won’t shut the fuck up about trans people. Satisfied? 1 hour ago, chocula said: Is this about the guy who put his dick in a popcorn bucket? Live in fear of the butter dick. 1

The person (the one who is not me) you quoted said "I'll take the win." I bet that's a pretty common kink or fetish. 1

Leaving aside all the entries that were about Rowling rather than by her, most of her comments were on Twitter - she's not doing rallies in Trafalgar Square or doing the media circuit. Your comments about her using her celebrity and having responsibilities because of her celebrity are nonsense. Celebrities are as free as anyone else to express their views and subject to the same laws as everyone else. If people are free to agree or disagree with her views. Most of the brouhaha about Rowling and the whole trans thing comes from the media trying to sell copy. This whole trans thing is yet another example of a complex issue being reduced to an 'us and them' name-calling fest with both sides trying to virtue-signal themselves to the moral high ground. 2 hours ago, chocula said: The person (the one who is not me) you quoted said "I'll take the win." I agree but I have a feeling Grey would rather choke on a dick and die than admit he’s wrong. Rowling is obsessed and if some people can’t get a clue find someone who will. It isn’t easy I know and hell even I might’ve said more than I needed to. Better to make a well thought out post than to respond to someone else’s half assed post. A good way to support trans people is to vote for politicians who are trans inclusive. Another way is to show up to protests be it LGBT+ Pride or Trans Day of Visibility. That said trans people are never going away because for every miserable JK Rowling there is an ally like David Tennant. PS. A scary trans person posted this and no-one died. 1

Irrelevant, but go off, I guess. 7 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: Your comments about her using her celebrity and having responsibilities because of her celebrity are nonsense. Celebrities are as free as anyone else to express their views and subject to the same laws as everyone else. If people are free to agree or disagree with her views. Most of the brouhaha about Rowling and the whole trans thing comes from the media trying to sell copy. Yeah, no. Celebrities voicing their opinions on policy has a greater influence on public opinion and policy than if some random guy did the same thing. This is a fact. Funnily enough, the rest of this response doesn't even contradict what I said in my reply to you. Here's what I said: Does any part of that read like I don't think she should be allowed to voice her opinions? No, I was saying that while she's free to say whatever she wants, her level of influence could very likely sway public opinion about whatever she's talking about and draw criticisms from naysayers; and then I followed up by saying that I think criticizing public figures is a good thing. That was me voicing my opinion. See, I observed something that was happening, used a fact that I knew about that related to the topic, and used that to form an opinion on something. Also, based on what I've seen, most of the "brouhaha" comes from Rowling saying something, people that used to read her books when they were kids hearing the thing she said, and then going, "Wow. I can't believe the Harry Potter lady hates trans people. What a bitch." If you're gonna reply to me, at least try to actually respond to what I said instead of getting tunnel vision and rattling off your own opinion disguised as a fact. Otherwise, you're not worth the effort. 7 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: Maybe its just me but if I were an American I would be more concerned about what my government is doing right now rather than what a UK private citizen did on Twitter in the past.
