Content Consumer's Alternate Starts

Could add books to the initial gear you're given that increase skills. I think you can only do one skill per book, unless you do it script wise like the Ogma book you get from Herma Mora.  Give them a value of 1g and someone could read them, or not.  Personal Journal of a Slutty Slut ... or My Little Black Book, Words and Musings of the Grey Fox, People I've Beaten Up for Fun and Profit, etc. At least for the thief and fighter ones, there are some like ABCs for Barbarians and The Well Cultured Thief (I think is the title) added by mods if they're not base game books to provide examples.  The first book of Talara (wrong skill, iirc) story wise would work for a prostitute start. Maybe a "Tales of the Camlorn Flower Festival"?

Re global variable: That's also doable, and much easier. The only reason I haven't done that yet is because I wanted the options, if available, to be easily accessed by everyone in a menu style thing. But just using the console would work too, even if it isn't pretty. ;)

 

I was considering another possibility - adding a new dialogue option to the mara statue that would control this sort of thing. That doesn't add another MCM, but it's also easy to overlook.

 

I've also been rethinking my stance on adding items to the mara cell. A separate statue, maybe of some other daedric prince (sanguine, or molag bal, etc) with dialogue to control this stuff. I dunno... at this point, I don't think Arthmoor is going to be making any more edits to the starting cell, and I can just put a note that there may be minor incompatibilities with other LAL mods that edit the cell.

 

NB: Globals control pretty much everything already.

There are 20 scenario control globals and 28 mod control globals. Using these can advance certain scenarios, or bypass the mod checks allowing you to access scenarios when you don't have the appropriate mod installed.

Adding another couple to control things like equipment levels (lots of stuff, not much stuff, no stuff) or seeds (experienced, inexperienced, etc) or skills (preset advancement, raw beginner) would be fine.

Which ones in particular? You mentioned the prostitute scenarios and a caught thief (escaped slave? or the prisoner one?), but which should and should not have skill seeds?

Well, a lot of people don't read the OP or descriptions fully. Which is understandable, because it's a big wall of words after all. I could put like a debug.notification in when you first talk to the mara statue though.

A dragon's egg, I think? Can't actually remember.

 

TBH as far as I know the egg didn't even make it into the private beta version - I added it when I was fiddling around with SGO and Beeing Female additions to that scenario. Egg Factory was supposed to be a backup for the backup, and I eventually just scrapped the idea entirely.

 

I should really revisit it and try again. Third time's the charm maybe. You're supposed to end up pregnant after all, and sex with a dremora doesn't guarantee that. ;)

Doesn't matter. Consider which one would requires a high skill ceiling to be possible. Like the aspirant mage that end up in oblivion: does requires some study to achieve that, does it not?

 

I think the simple slave/farmer/civilian start should have no bonus though. Like a plebeian that still has to unlock its full potential.

And that wouldn't matter for them, because that feature would exists more for power users: people who do lots and lots of runs and know skyrim quite well. If you advertise the feature properly, by explaining how to enable/disable the leveling in a manner that even a neophyte could understand, then there would be no real issue.

Please don't. We have many problems with skyrim, and one of them is that the UI sucks. Creating more clutter around a choice is relatively idiotic. All that might be required is a toggle, it matters little if it is through a lever or a global variable. Everything would be a lot simpler if we had a proper UI to handle player choices, but we don't have that luxury. Keep it simple, stupid. Or use UIExtension :tongue:

personal opinion following

 

i think adding another statue (i vote for Clavicus Vile that trickster) to the cell would be a good way to go for adding the controls for stuff like gear choices, skill choices,

seeds or whatever other options you want to let players have more direct control of would work (with the warning you already mentioned).

this would let players (who want it) have that control, without adding a MCM, and for all the default usage people can just ignore that statue.

if done the statue should (hopefully) disable when you (the player) actually make a choice from the Mara statue (at the time it tells you to sleep in the bed),

and if done this way it should (hopefully) minimize possible conflicts.

if it is self-disabling just a note on the OP about it is for options and will disable itself would work.

By the way, I'm totally for more objects in the cell. I just hope that cell won't be touched by arthmoor in the future. I bet that if you actually do some edits, he will find something to change :tongue:

To The Mod Author, as of your current version of CCAS i've notice that the Nord Queen Option isn't in the Menu , did this get over looked or did you name it something else, being that it's a self contained story(doesn't require an exterrnal mod to make it visible ), what happen?

Do you have Sexlab Stories installed? And are you using either Ez2c Dialogue Menu or Better Dialogue Controls?

What I'm thinking of doing is something like this: (spoiler warning - don't continue if you want to be surprised ;) ).

 

As soon as you select a scenario, but before you sleep in the LAL bed, the Mara statue disappears and is replaced by another talking activator. There will be a messagebox that pops up mentioning this, just in case players don't notice this happening. The messagebox (or messageboxes, not sure yet) will be in flavor, it won't just be "you notice the mara statue is gone and something else in its place."

 

The statue that replaces it will depend on which scenario you picked. Here's my current list:

The dialogue you get from the statue(s) will also be different depending on the statue. You wouldn't expect Azura to have the same dialogue as Dagon after all. This dialogue will be in the theme of a daedric prince noticing that a divine (mara) has taken an interest in the player, and wants to find out why. Something like:

If you choose to just sleep in the bed, you'll only get basic gear, which in this case will mean a set of beggar's clothes, a dagger, 4-8 gold, a lockpick, an apple, and an alto wine. This should be enough to give survival people a basic start, and not too much either. I'm also considering giving you no stuff to start with if you don't talk to the statue.

Note that this will give you this gear even in scenarios where you don't actually get to keep it, like Captured Dreams or slavery scenarios.

 

If you choose to talk to the statue, it will give you gear appropriate to your scenario when you sleep in the bed. This gear will be standardized as I've planned, and will pull from around 20 leveled lists (maybe more). Hopefully this will make each start give you a bit different equipment, so even if you pick the same one over and over you'll get (a little bit of) variety.

 

You might notice that not all daedra are in that list. This is because some of them just plain don't fit. Peryite might do for slavery scenarios, but considering how prevalent SD+ is, Sanguine really needs to take precedence. And so on. I tried to get the Anticipations and the Four Corners only, but Sanguine really needs to take part here, and Hircine is a perfect fit for the beastess and some animal scenarios. So it's uneven. If anyone has suggestions for other daedra fitting scenarios better, I'd like to hear them. Ideally, each Daedra would be equally represented, but I don't know if that's going to really be possible.

Also, I tried to balance the numbers out, which means some of them don't quite fit as well as they should. But it works for the most part. IIRC Sanguine has one or two more than the others. And Sheogorath only has one, but I think it makes sense.

And there are no divines, even though Dibella should really be involved in the prostitute starts, and so on. I didn't want to make the divines fight over the player. ;)

i did a quick check (i have a save at the AS-LAL cell and do have Stories and Better Dialogue Controls) and it is missing the Nord Queen Option.

i know it is picking up stories (i do get the Red Wave, Sexbot, and some other stories options) and i did check every submenu and still did not see it.

 

not sure how much help that actually is.

You could spawn the extra statue somewhere in front of the bed, so the player needs to actively avoid it to sleep. With some lighting for emphasis. Messagebox are flow breaking.

Hmph. True dat.

Okay, what about this - replace the bed with the statue. You can choose to accept or decline the gift, and either way the statue disappears and the bed comes back. Accept, and you get extra gear. Decline, and nothing.

would you need to bring the bed back, or on decline/accept just hit loadscreen? I suppose as a "oops I changed my mind" failsafe, but if you've removed Mara, you can't really go back.

Err, why make it simple when you can have if the complex way? Have something obvious, like a monkey staring at the player or something.

I suppose if we're bored enough and want to make more work, we could come up with plausible backgrounds for other queens...  Potema/Barenziah/Dunmer queen? I suppose a Breton would have to be a proto-reachman pre-hag or something.

and I'm probably being obtuse, but are the Polly entries the random prostitute scenarios? Are they and the Escaped slave patrons somewhat random or based on planned story based on the location?

The Dwemer Sexbot scenario is very bugged for me. Without SD+, the Falmers go hostile and attack. With SD+, they are hostile to start with but when I'm enslaved they are peaceful again(except two females who are still hostile). In none of these cases do I start with sexbot gear and it doesn't say anything about an SD+ requirement in the scenario list. I've also disabled all mods that make changes to enemies, but it doesn't help.

I know people have probably asked you before, but could you make a Horse start, where you have to be a "Stable girl" Or guy, and essentially like the dog start, you have to fuck the horses, to "Train them"

That was the eventual plan, or might be the plan if Stories is installed. I think you really need Stories for the Sexbot gear to be added.

I had Stories when I was testing this, and I've also edited my previous message. I don't think you can pick the scenario without it.

Yes I have Sexlab Stories and Ez2C dialogue, I can capture my in game dialogue with Mara if you want and you can see what i'm seeing.

 

as you can see by the jpg filles for menu for no requirements from top to bottom no opton for Nordic Queen.

 

btw i didn't have this problem with 13 this is version 14

 

P.S. all required mods have been downloaded directly either from Nexus mods or  Lovers Lab (as need be) and are as current as the mod authors have made them.

probably dumb question - are you a Nord??  ... i recently tested also and due to silly Breton moment i did not get the option ...started as a Nord and it appeared.

 

just as Content Consumer said it would.
