wulfgear09 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Remember fall out is about a blasted and wasted world not some frilly flower and rainbows land where elves and fairies frolic. I always liked the bleached look for fallout being of that generation that had drills to hide under our desks and wait for the bombs to fall in grade school, that being said having the dogs fur ripple or the man do a justin bieber hair flip would of been a nice touch and oh yeah some bouncing boobs.
Neptune Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Anyone else cry Man Tears watching the trailer? And is it me or did the world shown have a slightly more realistic/less cartoony look to it? Glorious.
windu190 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Anyone else cry Man Tears watching the trailer? And is it me or did the world shown have a slightly more realistic/less cartoony look to it? Glorious. I had mixed feelings. I was excited but also concerned as it looks too much like Rage, the graphics that is. Probably the same engine too :/
Kargrin Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What engine is it though??? Must be the great Gamebryo 2.. Creation engine.
windu190 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What engine is it though??? Must be the great Gamebryo 2.. Creation engine. I hope so.
bjornk Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What engine is it though??? Must be the great Gamebryo 2.. Creation engine. If the trailer shows in-game footage, I have a feeling that there's a bit of ray-tracing going on, which might mean idTech 6.
BruceWayne Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What city is that? Boston? I'm going out on a limb and say that this is an improved version of the Skyrim engine. BGS has until now always adapted their previous engines for their newer games. Tbh it doesn't look anywhere near as good as TW3 does. Which in turn means that you won't need a monster to play it, which is also nice (to assume). Regardless, I really like the look of the post-apocalyptic settlements with cyber- and steampunk elements. I wouldn't really have a problem if they go style over fidelity. Did anyone notice that the "protagonist" spoke at the end of the trailer? Maybe we get an unmuted PC this time around?
bjornk Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Did anyone notice that the "protagonist" spoke at the end of the trailer? Maybe we get an unmuted PC this time around?Yeah, but that part was probably not an in-game footage.
Zor2k13 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I am disappointed in the graphics, as for the pc talking it would be awful if it was dying light talkin oh gawd! That game wasn't so bad except for the annoying voice overs of the pc constantly whining and bitching about everything. Oh and the crap characters and hipster douchebag parkour crap.
bjornk Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Also voiced player characters often appear in games designed like a interactive movie (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Witcher etc). Would you want FO4 to be that kind of thing?
Baron Samedi Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm not sure entirely what to make of this. Given that its a trailer with the express purpose of "This is a thing that exists now" and "Get hyped" (As if I could). Its really hard to pass judgement when you literally have 0 information.
Nixea Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I can't believe people prioritize graphics so much. It looks undoubtedly better than previous Fallout/TES titles and adequate for a modern title, which is enough. You've known for a good while that an open world title of that magnitude is never going to be an awesome display of graphics if the previous titles are any indication. Also, airships have been a thing since Tactics. You may argue that its canon worth is a little controversial, but it's still a Fallout game.
MisterMoist Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What city is that? Boston? That's what I'm thinking. From the little half-circle flag thing and the building style, it looks like some of the architecture of the northeast. Boston is the only city that fits the bill (in my head =p). I'm mainly wondering why they pushed the reveal trailer the week before e3 when they paid money to get their own conference. Reveal trailers dont really hype me up for a game tbh, but this is as good a time as ever to finally sit down and play NV.

The trailer was just to try and build hype. For the city (and note that this is someone who lives in Scotland and has only ever been to the US once). People have suggested Boston which seems logical However I feel that Detroit and Philadelphia could also be strong contenders if its going to be set on the East Coast Although it could also be set in the northwest (Ie Oregon or Washington)
bjornk Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but let's be honest, the human NPCs in the trailer weren't any better than a SIMS 4 character. That'd be acceptable only if the game has some other significant improvements to offer over the previous titles. Otherwise it's just meh.
edtide25 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm pretty sure this is Fallout 4 at Boston. There is Bunker Hill Monument, USS Constitution, Massachusetts State House and Paul Revere statue / Old North Church. So excited! Kinda weird where I used to live for almost rest of my life.
Zor2k13 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Looking all cartoony and sims like implies a different form of expression than what we were all expecting I think. The graphics have to be really good because it is about dam time to make decent graphics! Why should we settle for low grade graphics when it is entirely possible to make good graphics? Look at how enb with the memory patch thing took skyrim much farther than it was supposed to go, why is it that enb has to exist anyway? Why can't the developers make that shit part of the dam game? Some guy in russia makes enb (just guessing lol) in his free time and it can be applied to many games so why can't game developers do the same thing? I was hoping for a complete remake of fallout with modern day themes, shots of putin and obumer and chinese pushing buttons to nuke the world. Could have spun a whole new story with more realistic graphics and completely new music but nope, same ol shit same ol music from fonv:-( This trailer was a test to see what people would say about the whole thing without revealing any game play. When the attendants show up for E3 to see more of it, beth will have some more in depth questions to answer this way.
BruceWayne Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Also voiced player characters often appear in games designed like a interactive movie (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Witcher etc). Would you want FO4 to be that kind of thing? This is just an observation I made, which I neither judged for its merit nor made any assumption over its implications. I don't presume to know anything from a 3 minute trailer, but I do enjoy to indulge in speculation (which might turn out completely false). There has never been a voiced over player character in Beth games. Aside from grunts, howls or the shouts in Skyrim, they never spoke a coherent sentence within their games or in trailers. Which made this novel to me. Isn't Boston known for baseball? There seems to be some sort of spruced up citadel-like building at 1:50 in the trailer with a statue of a baseball player in front of it (maybe a converted stadium?).
Kuroshu Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 @Zor2k13 A complete remake of Fallout? I'd rather not, if they were to do something like that they should have done so when they acquired the IP would have probably made the transition from the Isometric gameplay of the previous Fallout to the 3D FP/TP game we all mod the living hell out of today. Fallout is a old timey game, if you haven't noticed the world screams 80's(I think that's where it's based from, but I'm not sure) not modern. I'd argue there are very few who want a "modern" Fallout, there's plenty of that already, The division, Last of us, Destiny, to name a few. Complaining about time accurate music seems like a waste, it's like saying they should change the music in Bioshock. I've been meaning to say, but sometimes making a game more "beautiful" or "pretty" but making the graphics so High end can hurt how modifiable the game can be. Some things might have to be hardcoded and impossible/extremely difficult to mod or edit. Not including certain graphical enhancements can also open the game to more players. ENBs can make your games slow, yes one should try to get a beast of a computer to play games. Would take some money or know how to build your own, do you really want to have the same people who have a hard time installing simple mods to BUILD their own rig?(I don't). The charm of modifiable games is that you can make it as pretty as you want(so long as the mods exists for it). Now they can do some basic things so that modders can use those as a base to improve on.

bjornk Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Maybe it's just me, but the graphics quality in id's Rage (released in 2011) is almost on par with what we saw in the FO4 trailer (and looks similar in style too), if not better. http://bethsoft.com/games/RAGE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rage_(video_game) Screenshots: http://www.geforce.co.uk/games-applications/pc-games/rage/screenshots http://www.rage3d.com/board/printthread.php?t=33815711&page=242&pp=40 I don't think anyone would say no to a FO4 with Rage's graphics. Wow, this game seems to have pretty much everything to be a great Fallout or a Mad Max game.
