How to get rid of  YOU

i went behind my breeze home swung at him and then put my fist down . He kept on attacking which brought on the guards and citizens to defend me.  When the guard put an arrow in him i opened the console clicked down the arrow till it  pulled him up. I then typed mark for delete and hit enter. Closed the console and saved. loaded the save and (YOU) is gone. The only changes in the game is  you wont see the words  you would say when they come and talk to you. They act like you commented to them though. Nothing else changes . Free from (YOU)

IMHO it's a bit of a "hardcore" solution, but if it's satisfactory enough for you, then there may be some others that would be happy with this kind of a solution. I'd rather, however, recommend reading through the thread and try another workarounds suggested by users, especially when you'd like to preserve some of the PC oriented functionality of SLSL while getting rid of some YOU's annoyance.

Also, remember, SLSL is not in it's final state yet. You can enjoy its features ATM, share your experience (advantages and disadvantages, all opinions will be appreciated) and help in its development.

Hi, I just started getting genderfail matrix errors all the time. I have become pretty proficient in configing the mod, everything that was working seems to have stopped. Is there a way to reset the mod? I was thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling but I don't want to bork my game...

Where is dooge?

He must be around here somewhere... Must have been walked by a sexy lady. ;)

Seriously, probably he's working hard on his new mod.

So occasionally i would run into some invisable object and i tended to ignore it but lately it got in the way, then today while trying to get my male character to work, my character spoke confusing the shit out of me. I then noticed it kept saying "you: yes, hey, etc" I then later while trying to get something to work i found it again and found i could stab it, i was finally able to click it after using console commands and found it was made by your mod. Why is there an invisible me in the game?

It's not you, it's You. :P The player character can't actually "talk", so for this mod to be able to assign dialogue to the player in its automated fashion, it needs to have an NPC to give the dialogue to. So You follows you around and speaks on your behalf.

Greetings.

I have not installed this mod yet, but was just reading the thread when something occured to me.

I wonder if "YOU" could be added to the My Home is Your Home framework (newer 4.3 version) and simply be told to wait somewhere, thereby keeping "it" intact but locked in one location until the player actually WANTS the added player-voice following them around.

I'll install and see if it works. I'll report here if it is a viable alternative to killing "YOU".

Edited to add results of testing:

Bumping into "You" to make sure I was facing "You", I used the hotkey for MHIYH 4.3 to add "You" to the framework--It worked exactly like it would on any other NPC, and in the process now shows "You" as an activatable (but still invisible) follower with full MHIYH dialog functions. At this point you can instruct "You" to do pretty much anything, including staying somewhere such as your home. This gives you the full benefits of "You" when at home/Inn/Tavern, but leaves "You" behind when you want to adventure.

No need to kill "You", if you use MHIYH 4.3.

I also tried to apply the TCL toggle to "You" once it was an activatable, but no dice--collision was still in effect.

If anyone can figure out how to simply toggle off collision for "You", I'd appreciate a response here. This would address most of the annoyances with "You".

Additional testing results:

I tried adding the "is ghost" flag to "You", but this had no apparent effect--collision still in effect.

I then tried resetting the "object bounds" for "You", setting them all to 0 (zero). While this didn't completely remove collision, it effectively decreased the "size" of "You" making her/him much less likely to get in the way.

Conclusion!

If "You" is simply getting in your way too often, open TESVEdit and select "You" under the non-player actor category (you'll have to repeat this for both male and female if you play with both male and female saves). Under "Object Bounds", edit all the data fields to 0. Collision with "You" will be drastically reduced, but "You" will remain fully functional.

If you wish to simply leave "You" in one location (treat "you" as a follower), face "You" ingame (you can tell when you are facing "you" when you cannot walk forward) and use the "Add Follower" hotkey that comes with the MHIYH 4.3 mod. You can then tell "You" to stay somewhere--you will ONLY see the player portion of dialog when near "You". I do not recommend this route unless you really want to leave "You" somewhere--altering the object bounds solved all my issues with "You" and doesn't have the drawback of adding the "Press E to speak to "You"" ingame.

Until someone chimes in with a method to completely remove collision on "You" that's the best I got.

Great mod, by the way! Nicely fills in the world with NPC interactions, and the MCM gives lots of control. Well done!

To the Author: I've been doing some more testing. Setting all of the objects bounds to zero for both of the non-player actors (male and female) seems to fix the ""You" is in the fucking way AGAIN!" issues. I can't even tell "You" is there anymore once I made these changes. I also noticed that since "You" literally takes up less space that "You" stands closer to the player, meaning the NPC interacting with the player looks at the player more accurately instead of off to the side.

I highly recommend you incorporate these changes into the mod itself.

I have read the latest 11 pages of the thread but still haven't found a good way to get rid of You, that does not require CK.

My follower and You had a never-ending fight that I endured for 10 minutes and then opened an earlier save and disabled the mod.

So let's say I drop something and You picks it up. Then I select You in the console. And do what? Is it OK to kill him?

I guess You is essential if Aurelic could not finish him for 10 minutes of fight.

That was just scary.  Please change 'you' to 'Fred' if you ever do that again.  :)

I'm trying to figure out how to make all the female NPCs in the game bisexual. I have no idea how to do it. Anyone can give me some steps to do so?

well, I guess I don't know if it matters. I manually changed sexuality of a few females to bisexual, but when approached by other npcs, it either says correct gender but still matrix fail, or they still say they aren't into cooch.

Out of about 20 attempts I have yet to see one succeed.

I don't think there is a way to "batch-setting" all NPCs' sexuality. The only way is the manual one AFAIK.

As for the matrix genderfall - have you checked if SLSL MCM reads the NPCs as bisexual? I remember some mess in my game (maybe due to reinstalling/updating mods) when, for example, I had hetero in SL MCM and SLSL read bisex - because SLAroused had a different setting.

I'm sorry I can't help you more here. My config is fine now, so I can't reproduce your problem in my game to find the solution. Hopefully someone who fixed something like that in their game will give you a useful advice.

I went and changed each NPC to bisexual in SL MCM, and then went through each other SL addon I use to make sure nothing was overriding it. I also made sure Aroused was using sexlab's sexuality settings.

After a restart, eventually the female npcs started to interact with each other. I still occasionally get the matrix genderfail. If I'm honest, I'm not sure how to check SLSL to see what sexuality they have listed for NPCs, I only saw info about my own character when going through the MCM menu for SLSL, even when I would select the npc using the SL hotkey.

One other thing, I went through the forum, and saw a few posts about "You". I've run into him a few times, he's gotten me stuck in doorways also, and he got stuck between me and an enemy and I must have hit him because he started attacking me. Is he imperative to the workings of this mod? I see some people were able to select him in the console and disable him, but I can't manage it. Could I just delete him from the esp? I guess I don't really care if my Character has dialogue for the scenes or not.

To check SLSL settings for an NPC you have to approach them and with the crosshair on them open the MCM - you'll all their preferences (however you can't change their sexual orientation, which is taken from SL/SLA).

For the "You" workaround - search through the thread there are a few good methods. If you don't care about NPC-PC interaction, you can disable the little bastard in game via console: the refIDs are: xx0332e2/e3/e4 (I'm not exactly sure which one, maybe all of them) then disable (you can enable it later on if you change your mind). Or you can delete "You" from the .esp in the CK or TES5Edit. I am not 100% positive if these methods are safe though.

Just started this and downloaded 1.3.5. I see everybody talking about uploading from 7 to 13. I installed 1.3.5 but I have not seen it in the menu section. Are there parts or updates somewhere else?

Install 1.3.4 first, then overwrite with 1.3.5 which is .esp only.

just to confirm, the scrips needed to run this mod are performance heavy yes? I am currently running a mid-low spec system, so I just want to be sure if this is going to kill my fps

My rig is not a state-of-the-art either, although I shouldn't complain really.

I'll tell you this: I am playing a heavily modded Skyrim with many mods that are much heavier (as far as scripts are concerned) than SLSL and I can play quite comfortably. I don't think Sex Life's scripts will have a huge impact on your fps. Of course I wouldn't advice to set the scan frequency to something really high. However I am using ENBoost which makes some difference actually.

Sorry for being that obvious, but I'd recommend just trying the mod and seeing the performance for yourself. With Skyrim you'll never now. Just remember to keep your save from before the SLSL installation and revert to it when you'll see lowered performance in your game.
