Vykroft Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I think this picture summarizes a bit of everything ..
Vacaliga Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Beth statement right here. I'm sure there's a lot to pick at, but the anti-DRM stance in it is hopeful. Well well well it would seem that big bad Bethesda is not gonna take all our toys away after all. seriously tho, fully knowing there is a thing called damage control, this do look pretty damn sincere, would have liked to see an admission of the way it was suddenly presented and how that could have been handled smoother. but hey shits happens.
DoctaSax Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I just hope this can mean that people quit talking about possible doomsday scenarios as if they'd already happened.
uridimmu Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 4chan does make a good point. This is OBSCENELY RETARDED. WHAT IF THE MOD UPDATES AND BECOMES INCOMPATIBLE WITH MY SHIT WHAT IF THE GAME UPDATES AND BECOMES INCOMPATIBLE WHAT IF THE MOD TURNS OUT TO BE NOT WHAT I EXPECTED BUYING MODS WOULD BE ALMOST AKIN TO GAMBLING. YOU'D BE TAKING AN IMMENSE LEAP OF FAITH JUST TO GET FUTA COCKS IN YOUR GAME THE MODDER IS UNDER ---NO--- OBLIGATION TO FIX HIS SHIT OR MAKING COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR OTHER MODS. RE TAR DED Retarded is the fucking word. Plus I'm just reading Steam gets 75% of the money ?!! WHAT THE HELL MAN ?! It's already bad enough that they are even attempting this, but they keep all the fucking green too ?! Not only that, but have you guys even seen what sort of bullshit they are selling ? It's a god damn Asian MMO micro payment market place !!! A sword for 2 dollars for fuck sake, horse armor, ebony armor with that "Ancient Tongue" sword retexture ... What's the next step, making you pay for ENB presets ? A naked Dibella statue for 10 dollars ? And how in the fuck would modders who spent hundreds of hours working on real shit only for the love of modding supposed to feel looking at all this ? THIS is the most retardedly wrong thing I've seen in my short life of modder, and me naive son of a bitch who thought this field was free of everything that is fucked up about game industry... To be more precise Valve gets 30% Beth 45% and modder 25% and the modder only gets paid once he gets 100 dollars, ho and another little thing if the moder lives in France , Luxembourg and Japan he have to paid 30% from is money for something called (TIN) IRS or something like that in US
a_citizen Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 link That's just incredible, they officially think we are morons. Reading sentence after sentence you read bullshit. 8% Skyrim audience use mods! Which platform you fuckers?! Bethesda you are putting in there ALL the console gamers too! *audience* This is about PC and the team who wrote this official shit are not even good at their job! You can never be honest on this one, ever! You just see the potential income and fuck everything else! I really can't believe what I'm reading: "Opening up a market like this is full of problems. They are all the same problems every software developer faces (support, theft, etc.), and the solutions are the same. Valve has done a great job addressing those, but there will be new ones, and we’re confident those will get solved over time also." You really serious? You are confident… over time… Valve done great job... support... wtf it's like incredible to read these things. If only I was not so pissed about it, I would have laughed hard at reading this! There is no word in there that it's sincere, NOTHING! Respect is ZERO for… the audience. "Three years later and Valve has finally solved the technical and legal hurdles to make such a thing possible, and they should be celebrated for it. It wasn’t easy. They are not forcing us (we had no fucking doubt about it!), or any other game, to do it. They are opening a powerful new choice for everyone." Yes, you fuckers we are going to celebrate Valve, yeah… let's all celebrate at GOG FUCK OFF! I really have not words for these sentence put together. Then they put in there numbers the majority of us wasn't asking for in the first place since it was fucking primary to discuss if this thing was even good to exist as a concept! And what they said in the first part (supposedly in that regard) was a shameless bullshitting! Last part is about DRM, right, I would have bet on this everything! You morons read this at the very end, so you feel better and do not tell us to FUCK OFF! Shame on you, Bethesda. Now I see there is now way you are reversing back. That's what they wrote is for.

Starless Aeon Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 This means 2 things:1. Nobody bought their mods and 2. There are still people with brains. Real actual people. Now that's incredible!
bjornk Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Don't kid yourselves, this isn't a victory. They took something from you and then gave it back broken. Their experiment have failed this time but there will no doubt be a next time. At least some of you could see the true nature of these companies.

Their experiment have failed this time but there will no doubt be a next time. At least some of you could see the true nature of these companies. We understand our own game's communities pretty well, but stepping into an established, years old modding community in Skyrim was probably not the right place to start iterating. The part about skyrim not being the right place to start sounds disturbing indeed.

Always better than a BIG middle finger right in the face. It's been also very informative about Valve (let's not forget the refound shame and deleting complains) and Bethesda present management as a whole. It's certainly a victory since we are a bunch of guys standing for a passion (while intimidating with money) and we got some result. It will be back this thing, most likely. For now, let's celebrate and remember the jerk names in that workshop showcase.

This is why you rage at the machine and shake pitch forks ... If it isnt right . Now all we need to do is figure out how we can repay people who have our backs like Ashal and struggling talents like zaz ... That seems right to me . we need an easier way to say thanks with monetary recompense for those who can afford it , a few coins from many pockets adds up fast.
GrimReaper Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 It's unfortunate you resorted to name calling. I wasn't aware that 'dingus' is now considered name calling.

windpl Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Fuck me pitchforks worked ;p But I bet they will try this again. We should force valve to add donation option for mods, so valve will go fuck itself with saying "We are trying to help out moders.

I agree with bjornk, this might be a win for the first battle for paid mods. But I personally don't think this is going away. Give them some time and they will try again I believe. Hopefully this at least as slowed it down enough that for the next ES or FO game it won't be a major issue for it.
