I went to check the load order and Sexlab, aroused, and zaz are all in the right order. Then there is Devious Deviants.esp followed by Devious devices - integration.esm, and nothing else. Am I missing something?

Those two "devious" things are the only ones listed in the Data Files, should there be more?

Wait. You're using the built in data file listing in the skyrim launcher, and it only shows those two? Not even assets? Where exactly did you copy assets earlier from the core folder? If it doesn't show up in that list, it's not in the correct location.

You shouldn't copy the UNPB or Core folder to skyrim\data\, you should copy their contents into skyrim\data\.

Also, get a mod manager. Removing/updating mods properly is going to be nigh impossible without one. Except if you nuke your skyrim install every time you remove a mod and then reinstall all the others.

SUCCESS! Thanks a ton Srende. Like i said im new to modding and whatnot so i didnt think to copy over the contents. It works fine now. It took so long to reply because i got engrossed in reading the lore books LOL. Still cant seem to craft the darn things, but i'll try to figure that out on my own. I got the spell, but the Devious Smithing option hasnt shown up yet.

Re-read the book by zed curio after a save/reload (possible script lag going on can cause the quest to fail to initiate the smithing)

I did that but still no Devious Smithing. Is the Devious Devices - Expansion.esm supposed to show up as such in the data files. Assets and Integration are there but so is something called Devious Deviants.esp. Is that the expansion? or is that something different. I followed the installation instructions for the expansion (pretty sure i did everything right) but the mod "Devious Devices - Expansion.esm" has yet to appear in my data files. Im so close, i read all the lore books that got added, but still no ACTUAL bondage is going on in my game yet LOL.

I really want a pack mule of my own, so obviously these mods are a must.

Then you didn't install DDx correctly. I'd guess you made the same mistake as with DDa and installed the Core and UNPB folders into Data, instead of their contense, else you would definately see the DD-Expansion.esm in there.

Which book exactly? i read all the ones i found in the Forbidden Bookcase, but none of them gave me the Devious Smithing option.

Did you perchance read the books whilst they were still in the bookcase?

That doesen't work because.. because Skyrim is really odd sometimes and does silly things. You need to take the books into your inventory, leave the bookcase, then open your inventory and read them from there. Then it should work.

alright. I copyed over the extension properly but not the last file. idk why, just tired i guess. Ive got the extention.esm activated in the data files but still no devious smithing perk. no crashes or other oddities. Someone earlier said the tome was called "Forbidden Tome" while another said it was the Chastity belt book by Zed Curio. If its  the latter then i've read it and reread it and still nothing. If its the former then its not in my game.

I keep getting closer by smaller and smaller increments but i cant quite seem to get there. Its maddening. *wink wink*

The quest it's a part of is called "the forbidden tome", the book itself is the Chastity book by Zed.

Alas, if you can't get the perk by reading that book, then something got hosed up, you're supposed to get the perk from reading it. To fix this (assuming that reading the book directly from your inventory won't do it for some reason), open the console, type the following:

help "devious smithing"

Locate the perk from whatever list of things you get, it will have an 8-digit number attached to it, and then type:

player.addperk <insert the 8-digit number of the Devious-smithing perk here>

example:

player.addperk 0f004562

And then you'll have the perk.

EDIT: Oh, and you are looking at the correct section of the forge, yeah? All DD-items show up in the "Misc" section of the forge. Not in iron/steel/leather, only in "Misc".

The console command worked but for some reason they arent showing up on my character. Tho i think i saw a similar post about that earlier. I'll check back on that, wouldnt wanna make ya have to readress a previous issue haha

Edit: k, checked back and the problem taht guy had was due to some body slide thingy he had but i aint using one of those. Seems like a similar problem nonetheless. I would assume the items were just invisible but i equipped the ring gag and it isnt even opening her mouth or anything, so i doubt they just arent showing up visually. The mod description says that the items take up certain body slots, but i dont really know what that means. Here's hoping that this is the last obstacle.

I really appreciate yall's help up till now, tbh i was afraid that i was a lost cause but things are slowly but surely starting to come together. Thanks for dealing with my ignorance so graciously.

Check the MCM menu for devious devices and see if they aren't being auto hidden while wearing armor (last two menu tabs in the mcm) For me, the piercings tend to get hidden all the time for some reason unless I manually put it to disable for that slot. Also, get SkyUI - Show armor slots It's a must have. I don't see how I ever lived without it.

There is no menu for Devious Devices in the MCM. Is there a console command i can enter to bring that up? It should be in there, i have all the requisite files. Maybe its a similar problem to when i couldnt access the smithing perk.

Yes, thats exactly why you couldn't smith them and now that you consoled the smithing in its also why you can't see them

check for devious devicesintegration.esp in your load order, i'm guessing you made the same mistake with it as you did with the other files

I checked my load order and compared it with what coopervane said it should be: Assets, then Integration, followed by Expansion. Should i try uninstalling them and reinstalling all of them in the right order now that i know what to do? Or would that not do anything since they are already in the right order?

Alterntatively, is there a console command that i can use to bring up the menu in MCM, since the data IS in my game. Surely with the console command i would be able to access it just like with the smithing right?

i've heard of a command that could do that, but don't remember it or what thread it was on

I typed that command into the console but nothing happened. Idk if this will work but i'll try giving a follower these things to wear. Maybe its only my character that cant use it. Idk what would cause that but its worth a shot.

if the console command didn't work, you need to check the integration thread on fixing the mod or re-install iits damaged or bad install

Did you let it initialize before you opened the menus? Try a reinstall and sit there without touching anything until it says you can open the menus. If I remember, devious devices is one of those that warns you not to open menus... (don't have it installed on this playthrough, just replaced my hdd)

tried it out on a different character. Same song and dance. The items are IN the game, so i know im close.

are you sure you put the DDi scripts folder in (i remember you had an issue with the contents during install earlier on

It's got to be a load order thing if you're not seeing devious devices mcm showing up. I'm not sure what's overriding it somewhere. :/

i reinstalled Integration, set the load order, started up the game, then waited. How long is it supposed to take before it says i can open the menus?

don't know your other mods, so i'd recommend this
